Shiners & Woodie shine at Monmore

Shiners Princess and Head Iton Woodie did the business for the team at Monmore last night. Shiners Princess (pictured) was first to strike when he took the A3 by 2 1/2 lengths in 29.01. Head Iton Woodie took the kennel bragging rights in the S1 when he defeated Yorkshire Lady by a neck in 38.85.

Promising Puppy Bitch heading to Westview

We are constantly offered many dogs from Ireland / England which are for sale and some we feel are not good enough and the others are way over priced.

One such greyhound that we feel fits the bill is Matildas Daisy, who is only an Feb 2011 puppy. Out of leading sire Crash x Melted Rose, which is the exact same dam line as this years Irish Derby winner Skywalker Puma & the brilliant Killahan Phanther,  exceptional breeding one must say!

Matildas Daisy was advertised on Greyhound Data recently for sale at £5,000. But thanks to our 'main mans' skills in Ireland we have negotiated a 30% reduction in the asking price.

In her short career to date Daisy has proven beyond any doubt that she is one very talented open race puppy. In her latest race at Clonmel track she was racing against all age opponents, she was the youngest and least experienced in the field but showed tremendous all round pace to record a brilliant 28.93 winning time. Please bear in mind Daisy beat 28.94 race winners & 29.22 race winners Thurles, as well as open race winners.

Some of our kennel stars have raced at Clonmel before joining us. The likes of the great Express Shuttle who ran at Clonmel & clocked 28.77 (sold for a five figure sum).  A Touch of Venus recorded 29.19 & 29.01 Clonmel. She has won at Coventry in a fast 29.25, in her last open being rated 119 on Greyhound Data, we feel she is a live contender for this years Oaks at Wimbledon. Goa Girl won at Clonmel in 29.32 she has become a top open race stayer for us.

As the above shows Daisy's winning time is as good if not better than the above top open racers. Matildas Daisy style of running suggests she will have no problem in staying further. Her form lines speak for themselves :-

6 entries on her card with 4 wins . she will be joining us Tuesday here at Westview Kennels.

She will of course make one valuable breeding bitch when her glittering racing career is finished. As please remember she has the exact same dam line as this years Irish Derby winner "Skywalker Puma".

Please contact me direct to discuss this exciting puppy further. Please remember we have already got a 30% reduction in the asking price. Like most we advertise we post on the blog this bitch will sell quickly, if interested please call today.

Price £3,500

Rover denied at Romford

Express Rover could.'t record a victory in the Category 1 Puppy Cup Final after suffering a tasty shove in the side after leaving the traps. Rover battled hard but could never get on terms with the deserved winner Glanmire Lad representing Mark Wallis.

This race was only Rover's 7th race in her career and I'm sure she will get many more chances to improve on her great record to date.

Merlot and Instinct record Monmore success

Thursday evening gave us a double at our home track of Monmore Green. Kurious Instinct (top photo) made her debut a winning one when digging deep to win by a short head in 29.69. Lets hope this will be the first of many wins in her career. Solid Merlot (Lower photo) recorded his first victory since August when he romped to a huge six length win in 28.98

Chris Akers and Neil Britton added to Staff Pages

New recruit Chris Akers and Neil Britton have now been added to the staff section of the main website. The other staff have updated their dogs to follow for the rest of the year with a few new photos. I just need to get on and do mine ! Please have a click when you have five minutes.

Legend and Dave progress at Henlow

Both our Henlow Derby contenders both forwarded their cause with solid performances last night. Fifis Legend (pictured) took second place behind Yeatsie Boy who took the race in 27.63. Legend stayed on very well, if they dogs ever got loose on the bunny he would take some catching. He will be joined in the Semi Final by Ballycowen Dave who finished third in his heat to Loughteen Blanco in 27.41

Next weeks Semi Finals promise to be some serious races.

Twitter Update

With Ballymac Ace now enjoying his time at Stud I have changed our main Twitter account name to just Chris Allsopp. The user name of @BallymacAce will stay the same but you get my name come up in your timelines rather than Ace. It would be great if you could all refer a friend to follow up to help us spread the word. Many thanks.

Fifis and Dave head to Henlow

The Primus Telecom Henlow Derby commences tonight with all the action available on Racing Post TV. It looks like a great competition and lets hope we are heading home tonight with two qualifiers. A quick preview :-

Heat 1 - I fancy Droopys Reason to make the most of the inside draw.
Heat 2 - Taylors Sky once again gets a peach of a draw and should win well.
Heat 3 - Bush Bandit looks like a serious recruit and trap 6 should suit.
Heat 4 - Fifis Legend takes on Gymcrack hero Taranis Rex. Run to corner will be be crucial.
Heat 5 - Ballycowen Dave has plenty to contend with as there is plenty of genuine early pace in the race.  Early break is essential.
Heat 6 - Farloe Warhawk steps out of Puppy class, looks a certainty.

Hanks buys last share in Baileys

Norman Hanks has snapped up the final 1/3 share in Baileys Quest. It has always been Normans ambition to own a serious greyhound. Lets hope Bailey live up to his reputation and give Norman and his other owners some historic nights at the track.

Dora snaps up Athena

Dora McCarthy has took the other half share in Westmead Athena. This bitch ran a blinder on Sky at Yarmouth last Thursday and I have no doubt she will give her new connections plenty of great nights out.

This bitches sale is a first for us in that we only mentioned that she was for sale and the phone started to ring. The advert for the blog had not even been completed ! Many thanks for your support.

Venus shows her class in the mud

Mick Giles's Atouchofvenus showed her class last night when showing her liking for the heavy going when romping to a 7 1/2 length win at Coventry in 29.55. The going was like clue and it was a credit to all the dogs who ran through such tough conditions. Some of our younger pups just got lost in the going will be fine next time out. It was just one of those evenings.

A real Thunder Bolt

Dave Yanez took this image at the kennels yesterday of Andrew Winter's young pup Thunderbolt. I'm sure agree its a stunning piece of art.

Jenkinson is back for Baileys

I would like to offer a warm Westview Kennel welcome to Howard Jenkinson. Howard is a new owner to us but over the years he is owned some fantastic dogs including Kylegrove Top (Laurels Winner & triple Scottish Derby Finalist), Lunar Vacation, Droopys Sami and Meenala Cruiser who is now at stud.

Howard has been out of the game for a couple of years but is back with a bang by purchasing a 1/3 share in Baileys Quest. (1/3 share remains available - please call to avoid disappointment)

I'd like to wish Howard all the very best of luck and it's great for the sport that he is back with dogs.

Nicholls breaks transfer record to land Senor George

The much talked about Irish puppy Senor George will be joining the team at Westview Kennels after being purchased by Roy Nicholls.

The exciting puppy who is a Rising Star Nomination was a late withdrawal from the 2nd round of the Kasco Novice Open Stake at Thurles after being snapped up by the kennels Irish Agent John O'Sullivan.

The October 2010 puppy out of Ace Hi Rumble x Hondo on Air posted a mind blowing 28.74 on his racing debut in the Stake first right catching the eye of everyone both sides of the Irish Sea. O'Sullivan also purchased Baileys Quest who landed with us after his first round win in the same competition.

After a very difficult start to the year its really starting to turn round. I'd like to thank Roy for having the faith to purchase Senor George.

Get involved with Turbo action

I've just added a nice young March 2011 pup called Farloe Turbo,to the sale page. He would be perfect for any owner looking to get involved in our kennel. Please call if interested. I'd be happy to give any new owner a tour of the kennels and an introduction to Turbo.

Monmore aiming to maintain BAGS crown

The annual Bags Track Championship has been unveiled, with a new format for its big-money event. Total prize-money, including travel allowances and trophies, will be in the region of £160,000, up from the £150,000 on offer in the inaugural event.
This year’s renewal will involve six groups of three tracks that will race each other on a regional basis to determine a qualifier that goes forward to the Grand Finals on Sunday, December 23 at Perry Barr.
The inclusion of Peterborough in this year’s competition has helped make the numbers and geography fit better – generally reducing the distances to be travelled at the qualifying stage.
As was the case with the first event, staging the finals two days before Christmas offers an unusually high profile as there is no UK horseracing.
This year it falls on a Sunday, so Bags had the choice of four venues racing that day, opting for Perry Barr due to its central location and good motorway connections.
Each of the tracks will stage one qualifying match consisting of six races, with teams supplying two runners per race. There will be a sprint, standard (for dogs, bitches, pups and unrestricted) plus a stayers. If a track does not stage sprints an additional standard race will be held.
Similar to last year, competing greyhounds must have had at least five graded races at their home track, and be open-race maidens before the start of the event at Belle Vue on Wednesday October 31, when the Manchester track hosts Nottingham and Sheffield.
Different to last year, however, is runners are eligible if they win an open after the event kicks off.
The last qualifier before the final will take place at Romford on Thursday, December 6 when Peterborough and Yarmouth are the visitors.
Graham McLennan, Bags general manager, said: “It will be interesting to see how the dynamics of the new groups work. Also, team managers have six weeks to think about it, and discuss with trainers whether to risk a progressive greyhound winning an open before the championship starts – rendering it ineligible.”
Reigning champions Monmore will begin the defence of the title at Perry Barr on Tuesday, November 6 when Hall Green will be the third participating track. The other three groups comprise Kinsley, Newcastle and Sunderland; Oxford, Poole and Swindon; and Crayford, Hove and Sittingbourne.
At the end of the group stage, the highest points-scoring team in each will advance to the championship final. This year’s finals will comprise ten events, rather than last year’s six, with the six tracks providing one runner in each race.
This will involve two staying races, and two each of the standard unrestricted, dogs and bitches, plus one sprint and one standard puppy race.
The qualifiers have been spread as evenly as possible over the period, which is slightly longer than last year, to allow for recovery time between races. There will be only one be one qualifying event on any given day.
Points are scored 10, 7, 5, 3, 2 and 1 in order of finish. Heats are worth £200, runner-up £100, others £75; the final race winners get £500 each, second £200, others £100.
Winning group teams receive £1,500, runner-up £750, third £500, while the overall winning team picks up £6,000 and trophy, second £4,000, others £2,500.
Team purses are split at the discretion of each team manager. A travelling allowance of £1,000 per team is being made.
In addition the overall winner will see £12,500 added to Bags prize-money at the track in the following period, with £5,000 to the runner-up.
Groups (with dates of matches):
A - Belle Vue (Oct 31), Nottingham (Nov 13) and Sheffield (Nov 29).
B - Kinsley (Nov 4), Sunderland (Nov 20) and Newcastle (Dec 5).
C - Perry Barr (Nov 6), Hall Green (Dec 3) and Monmore (Nov 23).
D - Swindon (Nov 2), Oxford (Nov 16) and Poole (Dec 1).
E - Sittingbourne (Nov 1), Crayford (Nov 15) and Hove (Nov 28).
F - Peterborough (Nov 9), Yarmouth (Nov 21) and Romford (Dec 6).
Grand final 23rd December at Perry Barr

Special first winner for Mallot's

With all that has been happening in the last few weeks its been hard to keep you all informed with all the news.

I wanted to congratulate Brian and Janet Mallot from Corby, Northamptonshire who own a share in Dixies Craft. When Dixies Craft won a Romford recently it was the couples first ever winner as owners. There is no better feeling. Let's hope I can get them a few more. Well done and thank you for your support.

Saturday night home double

We continue to string good performances together at Monmore. Last night Shades of Zeta (pictured at kennels) took the evenings A3 with some great early pace taking the race in 29.31. This promising bitch is still very much on the upgrade.

Vedfield Solid (pictured in action) recorded his first win since June when recording the fastest time of the night in the A1. Solid was quickly away from traps and never headed in the 3/4 length win in 28.75.

H'away the lads

Paul made the long journey to Newcastle yesterday as we continue to prepare for their big competitions of the year.

Express Flame seemed to take well to the Newcastle track as the fawn bitch took a Northern Puppy Derby Trial Stake when beating kennel mate Joscar by 3 1/2 lengths in 28.69

Welton Arthur took revenge on our Peggys Style in the Great North Run Trial Stake by beating her a neck in 41.12. Peggys will improve for this outing and will hopefully not run so wide when the competition starts. Farloe Luigi ran on very late in the All England Trial Stake to take a good second in 29.08

Express Rover records Semi Final romp

Express Rover (Hondo Black x Express Mist) made it a magnificent four wins from just six races when taking the first Romford Puppy Cup Semi Final last night. Rover showed the early pace that was needed as he flew round to win by 1 3/4 lengths in 24.47

Friday's final (with Coral betting): 1 Ballymac Josh (8-1) 2 Oscars Goodbye (4-1)  3 Glanmire Lad (m) (6-4) 4 Express Rover (m)  (11-4) 5 Lenson Champ (w)  (10-1) 6 Blackrose Eve (w) (7-1)

Jennas Pony is fast becoming a legend at Romford. She recorded her 8th win round the Essex circuit when winning one of the supporting open races in 25.54 over 400 metres.

Sales Update News

John Nokes has today purchased a 1/3 share in wonder pup Baileys Quest. The phone has been busy all day with enquires about this fella. If you are thinking of buying a share I would urge you to call and seal the deal or risk missing out.

In further sale news Neil Dean and Mike Gould have bought a half share in Westmead Athena. I would like to send Neil a special get well soon message who recently underwent heart surgery.

Good Luck boys with your new purchases and thank you for your continued support.

Lady leads the way

The ever reliable Yorkshire Lady (pictured) landed the odds for her Monmore supporters this afternoon when adding another S2 to her CV by 2 lengths in 38.80. Galtee Judy was our second winning favourite when she took the S3 in 39.47.

Goa Girl Sky Night photos

Steve Nash has kindly forwarded the two above photos from Goa Girl's win at Yarmouth last night.

Couldwell and Murphy join Kennel Team

I'd like to offer a warm kennel welcome to new owners James Couldwell and D Murphy who have kindly sent me the stunning bitch Ferndale Twirl to train. This nice bitch should a strong addition to the team. Good Luck chaps !

Youngsters hit target at Monmore

Lynns Blackie (pictured) stepped up to A5 last night and added another victory to her promising young career. Quickly into stride in this competitive graded contest she also stayed on sweetly to win by two lengths in 29.07

Direct Hit recorded his first win when he lunged late to get up by a short head to win in 29.36. Hopefully the young dog can build on this success.

Goa Girl is Sky Star

Goa Girl sparkled in front of Sky cameras last night at Yarmouth when taking the Stayers race over 659 metres. A 6/1 chance at the off, Girl showed some real courage and guts to kick strong off the last bend to win by neck in 40.55

Fifis Legend trapped well in the final but a bump into Pennys Midas when leaving the traps realistically ended his chances. He chased hard but no dog could could have caught the deserved winner Bubbly Phoenix. Congratulations to Paul Young and the Champagne Club.

Westmead Athena ran a stormer in the bitches race and will be suit by a bit further.

Legend bid for Yarmouth glory

We head to Yarmouth tonight hoping Fifis Legend can defy his odds and land another televised Sky Final for us. As always he will need to overcome a poor draw and some serious top class opposition. Despite this if he could break like he can he could prove tough to pass if getting in front.

On the undercard Westmead Athena (for sale if you fancy an instant Sky runner) is in the bitches race, Skyline Amber is in the Marathon, Goa Girl in the Stayers, Ballycowen Dave in the invitation.

Good luck to all connections !!

Yan is at Kennels this Sunday

Dave Yanez will be at kennels this Sunday to take any photos for owners. Dave does a fantastic range of products and was responsible for all our framed jackets and photos in the kennels. One of my favourite products he does is a a montage of shots of a dog from kennels and at track. Please have a chat with him on Sunday or drop him an email if you would like to place an order in advance.

Fancy a Baileys ?

We had a new dog arrive yesterday morning at West View Kennels. I bought this dog Saturday morning but have kept the deal under wraps until I had him safe and sound in the kennels.

This dog has been hot property since his remarkable debut run on Friday night and all the leading trainers in England and Ireland have been after him. This is the reason why I had to keep the deal very quiet because of the massive interest in him and i didn't want to count my chickens.

My main was simply once again in the right place at the right time and secured the deal.
Over the years we have sold Category 1 winners on my website and many other great greyhounds. This dog really excites me and I have no doubt he will be a real live English Derby contender.

I am pleased to offer you Baileys Quest, February 2011, 32kg, Blue dog out of Scorlari Me Daddy x Slaneyside Kelly. This dog on Friday night at Thurles was making his racing debut in the Kasco Open Novice competition, an event over the years attracts all the very best unraced dogs around the country and is a massive competition in Ireland. The great Milldean Panther started his racing career in the very same event last year, and went on the win the comp, becoming one of the fastest dogs ever seen.

Baileys Quest went round Thurles on Friday in a fantastic 28.99, recording a 1.79 split and a unbelievable 15.71 to half way. Milldean Panther on debut done a 28.83, 1.79 split and 15.70 to half way and the great Droopys Jet only done a 29.60 on his debut. Thurles is one of the most toughest tracks in Ireland and a track  here the form always stands up and a track we love to buy out of.

Baileys Quest was only running over the 525 trip for the 3rd time ever on friday, having only had 2 trials over 525 prior to the event. His raw early pace and the way he attacks a bend is simply breathtaking.

There is no substitute for early pace in this game and this fellow has it in abundance with age and experience and in professional hands he will get stronger and I have no doubt he will be major player in all the big events in England.

Dogs like this do not come round very often, I'd strongly advise you to watch the race in question on www.igb.ie

I will sell this dog to one owner or to a small syndicate, he is priced to stay in the kennel.

Matthew Oliver joins Team Allsopp

I'm pleased to welcome new owner Matthew Oliver to Westview Kennels. Matthew has purchased the promising puppy Proud Darkie. It's great to still be attracting new owners to the kennel. I'm sure our track success, warm welcome at kennels, great staff and social media all combine to this.

Good Luck Matthew !

Leading Puppy stars clash at Romford

The quickest early paced pups in the country headed to Romford for the start of their ultra competitive Puppy Cup. Jim Reynolds's Ocars Goodbye put down the marker in Heat 1 when romped to a 24.22 success. Our own Express Rover looked ready for the step up in class and so it proved as he took Heat 5 by three lengths in 24.24. Shades of Daysa was unplaced in 4th place.

Joining Rover in Fridays second round is Kinloch Tiger who clinched second place in Heat 6 with a gutsy effort in 25.54

Draw for Friday’s semis – first: 1 Jaytee Hellcat, 2 Droopys Felton, 3 Bens Angel (m), 4 Express Rover (m), 5 Gurtmullen Penny (w), 6 Lenson Champ (w)

Second: 1 Kinloch Tiger, 2 Blackrose Mia, 3 Fahy Pine, 4 Ballymac Josh, 5 Oscars Goodbye, 6 Droopys Derek (w)
Third: 1 Unique Woe, 2 Severn Bolt, 3 Paulees Stevie (m), 4 Glanmire Lad (m), 5 Yahtzee (m), 6 Blackrose Eve (w)

Girl hits the target at Coventry

Goa Girl recorded her 10th career win from just her 26th start last night when running out a convincing four length winner at Coventry. Girl was in charge from the moments the traps opened and showed some fantastic pace to take the 672 metre contest in 41.82.

Sunday 16 September 2012

Having a Barney

Since posting on the sale page three shares of Proud Barney have been snapped up by John Nokes, Dave Patridge and Mark Glastonbury. Thank you for your continued support.

One share remains available in this puppy prospect so if interested please call. The cost is a very reasonable £1,750.

Home town Hatrick

Saturday nights performances round the country were all the sweeter as we recorded a hatrick at our home track of Monmore Green.

The well bred Westmead Athena recorded her first win since joining us when she ran out a comfortable two length winner of the A2 in 28.82. This girl is well worth following in the coming months. Broher Buzz took advantage of the drop down in grade from A1 when he lead all the way to win in 28.90.

Its not just about the open race superstars here at Westview and I was really please that Miss Capulet recorded her first win in the A10 in 30.27.

Boherna take Dual Distance Final

Boherna Bridge (pictured) fought off a late challenge of Conkon to take last nights RGT Dual Distance Final at Nottingham last night. Bridge was quickly into his stride over the extended 680 metres and did very well to stay on to take the £500 contest by a short head in 41.90

On the supporting card Shades of Dasya recorded her first open race win when she took the RGT Maiden Sprint Trophy with an all the way victory in 18.12. It would be great if she can build on this success and compete with the open race sprinters.

Drumcove Lad missed his engagement in the Sprint Final with a very minor injury. He will continue his comeback in a couple of weeks.
