Girl and Sidelight strut their stuff

Goa Girl added another open race victory to her already impressive CV when staying on very strongly over 630 metres to win by 3 3/4 lengths in 38.49.  This was the bitches 6th career win and she is the type of bitch who will continue to blossom.

The very promising Sidelight did not let the step up to A2 stop him making it back to back wins. Sidelight was quickly away and was never heading as the pup won by 2 lengths in 28.64. I do still have 2 x 25% shares or 1 x 50% share available in this quality puppy. If interested please call this morning.

100 not out.......Onwards and upwards

Peggys Style's win in Heat 3 of the gain Foods St Ledger on Friday night has helped us push up to third in the Trainers Championship.

Peggys Style was quickly away from traps in the testing race over 661 metres and was not headed over most of the race but needed to dig deep to hold off the challenge of Trickys on Fire in the last strides. The winning distance was 1/2 length in a time of 42.88

Sales Update

Borna Line has been today snapped by by Craig Bailey. I'd like to wish Craig all the very best of luck with her.  Loyal owner Rich Wood has purchased 50% of the very promising bitch Sidelight. Sidelight (Hondo Black x Borna Fence) is only a March 2011 who has already won a tough A3 in an eye catching in 28.40. I still have 50% of this future star available. I'd sell 50% for £2,000 or 2 1/4 shares for £1,000 please call if interested.

Trainers Championship Update

Last weeks win in the John Smiths Kent Derby has given us a welcome boost in the Trainers Championship standings. We have moved clear of Mr Cahill whilst we have moved closer to the Mr Lister OBE. As always I'm trying to recruit the best Irish talent at reasonable money. I'm always have an open door to new owners wishing to join our great sport or help an existing owner with a change of scenery for their dog. Please call if interested.

Flame loses maiden tag at the Barr

Express Flame recorded her maiden tag last night with a great win at Perry Barr in the Division 2 Maiden. Flame missed the kick early on but she moved her way through the field then kicked off the final bend for seal a 1 1/4 length win in 28.91. I'm sure this nice bitch will now win many nice races.

Five star performances from home team

 Drive on Pal
Driving Force
 Goa Leprechaun
 Mays Stopagoback
Newin Flutter

The team must send me on holiday more!!! Last night they produced five winners at our home track of Monmore on top of Tuesday nights Kent Derby win.

Goa Leprechaun got the ball rolling for us when she recorded his maiden win when taking the A4 in 28.93. Drive on Pal recorded his third win from his last four starts when he ran out a 2 1/2 length win in 29.01

Driving Force put his best foot forward in the S2 when running out a convincing winner by 3 1/2 lengths in 38.89. The Racing Post's decision to make Mays Stopgoback their NAP was fully shown when she romped to a nine length win in 38.50. Our final winner of the evening came care of Newinn Flutter who stayed on very sweetly to take the A5 in 28.92. Let's hope the four length victory goes unnoticed by the grader.

Many thanks to Dave Yanez for sending the photos to us so quickly.

Tiger, Tango and Sweep ready for Warhawk

Kinloch Tiger (pictured ahead of Start Itup Sweep), Valentia Tango and Start Itup Sweep will tomorrow take their chance in the Ladbrokes August Festival Puppy Final at Monmore. Whilst we are treble handed all will have their work cut out the amazing Farloe Warhawk. Barrie Drapers pup has the look of a serious greyhound. Good Luck to all our connections.

Ballycowen and Fifis star in front of cameras

Ballycowen Dave recorded our first major win of 2012 when he took the John Smiths Kent Derby. Dave who had never won an open race before this campaign in the south east has just really took to the track. The Roly Woodcock owned son of Daves Mentor simply pinged from traps and was never headed in the £7,500 contest.

There was terrible trouble on the first which Westead Adonis in which he suffered a shocking injury which did take the edge of the celebrations. We have suffered more than most this years with injuries and I'm sure the Sava team will bounce back just like we have had to do. Dave stopped the clock at 29.01. Rusheen Major battled hard in behind to take a valued third place.

Fifis Legend had earlier caught the eye when taking the dog races over 480 metres. Legend stayed on very sweetly to win by 1/2 length in 28.94

Sky double is major lift for kennel

Congratulations to Roly Woodcock and Ballycowen Dave for winning the £7,500 Kent Derby live on Sky tonight. Full report and photos on the blog as soon as we get them ! Our thoughts are with the connections of Adonis who suffered a terrible fall in the race.

Fifis Legend wins on the undercard, what a night. Full report and photos as soon as we get them.

Monday magic from Tiger

The Ladbrokes August Festival at Monmore moved into full swing yesterday with the Puppy, 630, 416 and Gold Cup all reaching the Semi Final stages.

We will have three runners in the Puppy Final after some fine performances. Kinloch Tiger beat Start Itup Sweep in Heat 1 in 28.48 by 2 1/2 lengths. Those two will be joined by Valentia Tiger who chased the highly touted Farloe Warhawk who stopped the clock at  a mind blowing 27.97

Sadly Boris Johner and Proud Patsy both suffered early crowding in the heats of the 416 competition so were both eliminated.

Sky night at Sittingbourne

Tonights Sky card at Sittingbourne looks to be a great night of racing. In the John Smiths Derby we will be double handed with Rusheen Major and Ballyowen Dave. Both have had great campaigns to reach the Final and it would great if they could both get great starts and make the field really go.

On the supporting card Joscar goes in the Puppy race and Fifis Legend is in action in the 480 standard for dogs.

Fingers crossed to all connections.

Normal service at Monmore

Lynns Blackie got us back to winning ways at Monmore tonight. Blackie recorded her first career win when taking the evenings A8 in 29.05. Sent off a warm 6/4 favourite Blackie never gave her supporters any worries as she lead early and stayed on to win by three lengths.

Promising recuit Sidelight also lost his maiden tag when running out a 3 3/4 length winner of the A3 in a rapid 28.40. This lad has some genuine all round pace and I can see him winning plenty of races throughout his career.

Quiet days Home and Away

Sadly we drew a blank on a competitive night of racing at Hove on Thursday. I'm sure all the runners who were unplaced will bounce back on their next runs.

It was unfortunately the same story at Monmore on Thursday evening and Friday afternoon. Some weeks you just have these types of results. Fingers crossed we will be back among the winners on Saturday.

Rusheen & Owen reach major Sky Final

Rusheen Major (pictured) and Ballycowen Dave reached their first major Sky Final last night when taking a Semi Final each of the John Smiths Kent Derby at Sittingbourne.

Rusheen Major was first to strike when he took the first Semi Final in 28.80. Major pinged from traps and stole an early lead. Westmead Adonis gave us a real fright as he chased Major hard but Major held on to take the race by a short head.

Ballycowen Dave was very brave in the 2nd Semi Final as he rode a bump on the first corner to steal and lead coming out of the second bend. The strong field gave chase but despite their best efforts that could catch him. The winning margin was just a hard fought head in 29.09

Tuesday week's live on Sky decider, winner £7,500: 1 Westmead Adonis 2 Cash Game 3 Rusheen Major 4 Westmead Shaw 5 Helenas Sailor (w) 6 Ballycowen Dave (w)

Deal struck to bring Proud pups to Westview

Our 'main man in Ireland who has provided us with such legendary greyhounds as Burnpark Champ, Express Shuttle, Brittons Empire, Proud Berry, Drumcove Lad, Rosshill View, etc has just completed the deal for us on three hugely exciting young pups.

Two of these pups are only May 2011 whelps -

They are classically bred as they are by WestmeadHawk x Proud Pegs Gift - which is the dam of "Proud Berry" (one of the best pups in the UK) - who had the world at his feet until he was tragically injured.

These 2 pups have only been in the 'boxes' 3 times. Their names are "Proud Barney" & "Proud Eds Queen"

"Proud Barney" is a white & Black dog (same markings as "Proud Berry" - "Proud Barney" in his latest trial at Waterford clocked 16.81 for the 300 yards (To put this into perspective) Proud Berry clocked 16.77 on his 3rd trial at Waterford - (He was sold to us for a large 5 figure sum).He went on to win his 1st 4 open races beating the likes of "Ballymac Eske"

"Proud Barney" quite simply could be anything. His litter sister "Proud Eds Queen" has all the hallmarks of a Major open class stayer. She is a beautiful looking 65lbs White/Brindle bitch - In only her 2nd 525 yards. She showed 'huge' pace to clock a time of 29.09.

The 3rd puppy is a Black April 2011 dog 'Proud Darkie". He is by leading sire - 'Hondo Black x 'Proud Pegs Joy' - who has produced major open race winners. This pup looks to have top class early and in only his 2nd 525 yards of his life clocked a hugely promising 29.12 at Waterford. Like all the 'Proud' dogs that have come to the UK - these pups will improve lengths with more schooling and age.

They are all tailor made for the 2013 Midland Puppy Derby competition and all the other major open class puppy comps. None of these outstanding young prospects will command five figures. They are very reasonably priced for dogs of their breeding and age.

Please phone me direct to discuss these super pups further.

Boris makes it back to back

The fast improving Boris Johner made it back to back Monmore wins last night in a very competitive A1. The son of Dave Mentor was never headed in any part of the race but needed to stick to his task well as Cape Maldini chased him hard all the way. The winning margin was one length and the time was 28.38

Tiger roars to Perry Barr success

Promising pup Kinloch Tiger roared to another win last night when impressing at Perry Barr. Tiger was never headed in the Tom Daley Puppy Stake contest running out an impressive 3 1/2 length victor in 28.43. Tiger should be able to keep picking up these type of races until he loses his puppy status.

Joscar loses maiden tag

Joscar got his just reward for a very consistent start to his career when recording a 1 /2 length win in 29.98 at Hove. Joscar showed some nice early pace round the first two bends and then showed the field a clean pair of heels as he kicked clear to take the race in comfortable fashion.

A Glass to celebrate

Solid Merlot recorded his first victory since March when running out an impressive 4 1/2 winner of Thursdays A6. Merlot hasn't been having the clearest of runs recently so it was great to see him show some early toe and record a great time of 28.74. Onwards and upwards now for Merlot hopefully.

Monday 6 August 2012

Sweep and Mags star at Monmore

Start itup Sweep took advantage of a drop to A2 this afternoon at Monmore. Sweep was very quickly into his stride and there was no stopping him as he won by two lengths in 28.74. Head Iton Mags went off a very warm favourite in the S6 opening race. The local punters looked worried on the turn for home but Mags stayed on best to take the race by 3/4 length in 40.02.

Kent Derby kicks off in style

Ballycowen Dave lost his maiden tag in style last night by taking Heat 1 for the John Smiths Kent Derby at Sittingbourne. In Heat 1 Dave showed some nice early pace and got the better of Westmead Shaw by 3/4 in 29.05. Fifis Legend started his campaign well by staying on very strongly to take Heat 6 by 29.14. Rusheen Major snatched a place in the Semi Final by finishing third in Heat 2.

Goa Girl put her early pace to good use in the super stayers race. Girl paced out well and whilst the field chased hard Girl hung on well to take the contest in 44.61

Trainers Championship Update

We continue to travel the tracks nationwide in search of opportunities for the open race team. A solid 5th placing shows how hard we have had to work for our 91 winners. Given our continued luck in Finals this year we are one one winner winner from a real push up the table.

Adamson Syndicate extend team

The Adamson Syndicate have added to their portfolio of dogs when yesterday stepping in quickly to purchase Direct Hit, More Toe and Takernbreathaway from the blog page. I'd like to thank Will and his syndicate for his continued support. Hopefully these pups will give them plenty of great nights out and hopefully land a few gambles. Good Luck boys !

Boris proves he is just A1

Boris Johner proved he was King of the A1 grade at Monmore last night when taking a very competitive looking race which contained our own Marazion Magic and Sharp Bullet. It was Boris who stole an early lead and was never headed. The field chased hard but the closed they came was in the shadow of the line. Boris taking the race in 28.63

Garnets Barr Double

Some impressive performance for the team last night at Perry Barr. Matt Garnet recorded an open race double care of Doobys Gone West and Sids Champ. Doobys Gone West showed his blistering early pace to take the Division 2 Sprint in 16.23. Sids Champ made it three wins on the bounce when going off a warm 5/4 favourite when taking the Standard over 480 metres in 28.77

It was a cracking mixed card at the West Midland track it was great how they named the open races after the GB Olympic stars.

Jennas Pony ran a great race in the Division 1 sprint to finish a game second. Goa Leprechaun caught a flier in the stayers open. Leprechaun ran very well but the field had no answer to Ballymac Sandra who set a new track record in 39.88

Richard Wood going for gold with Torchbearer

Loyal owner Richard Wood has added the adaptly named Torchbearer to give string to dogs this week. This young Ballymac Penske pup has just finished her schooling in Ireland and will be joining us very soon. I'd like to thank Richard for his continued support and wish him the best of luck with the pup.

Friday Double at the Green

We recorded a pleasing double at Monmore on Friday. Pugs Escolade (pictured) got us out the blocks with an impressive performance in the A4. The son of Vans Escoldade was quickly away from traps and never headed as October 2010 pup went on to win by 3 1/2 lengths in 28.91

Hidden Trend became our second winner when she recorded her second career in the A3. Trend flew round in 28.88 by a margin of 4 1/4 lengths. Both these improving prospects will be expecting a rise in grade next time they visit the track.

Bridesmaid role continues

All the dogs ran there hearts out again tonight at Hove but once again with we were the bridesmaids. With the dogs running so well yet still no big race success, surely our bad luck must end soon!!

Judy goes in again

Galtee Judy seems to be dominating the blog at the moment and once again yesterday she caught the headlines with her second win in succession at Monmore.

Judy dropped back to four bends to take the A5 by a convincing 5 1/2 lengths in 28.60. Before these two recent races the bitch had won 2 races from 27 starts so to win two back to back is a great effort. She could well be a later developer.
