Exocet fails to fire in Eclipse Final
Mixed fortunes for us at Nottingham last night. Sadly Exocet left his trapping at home so missed out in Final of the Betfred Eclipse as once behind on the first corner he had an impossible task. Disppointment for connections now in successive finals but lets hope we can final another Final for him before the year is out.
Daddy Knowsbest put in a wonderful run on his comeback to take Betfred Double Delight 480 Trophy when pinging from traps to lead all the way and then hold on when a late challenge came to win by 2 lengths in 28.67. He will now head to Poole on Tuesday where he holds the track record.
Cluxtons Free added another win to his amazing CV when taking the Sprint Trophy in 17.67 by 3/4 length.

Bolting in at Notts
Two winners for the team at Nottingham last night to keep us in touch which the Trainers Championship.

This was our 150th and 151st open race winners of the years. A great credit to how hard to all the team have worked.

It's on a Hatrick for Cracker
Ballymac Cracker made it three straight wins at Monmore this afternoon. Cracker had to concede the early pace but way always in a challenging position. Off the last bend she kicked hard to seal a fantastic hatrick of wins in 29.03 for a short head.
Change leads a five star night
Five winners on a Thursday night gave us all a big boost going into a busy few days.
Minnies Botanist got the ball rolling when recording her first win in the A3. Staying on very sweetly to take the race in 29.38. Then litter sister Minnies Bolbina recorded the same feat when taking advantage of a drop to A5 to win in 29.23.
Start Itup Sooty made it four wins from his last six races to take a competitive looking A2 by two lengths in 28.89.
Loose Change then lost his maiden tag in open race company to take the Ladbrokes.com 480 maiden, Change had to over come crowding throughout the race but stuck to his task well to win by 1/2 length in 29.03.
Finally Ballymac Warrior ended a fantastic night for kennel when taking the A1 in great style. Breaking well then leading all the way to win in 28.61.

Only way is Essex
Pending how Exocet comes out of the Eclipse at Nottingham but we could well head to Romford for the Coral Essex Vase.
Exocet really enjoys his racing and seems to take well to plenty of trips to the track. His natural speed could be a real tool at Romford and he has some top class form over 575 metres already when racing in Ireland.
Don't be surpassed if he makes the entries along side our super bitch Sidelight.

Dogs heading all over
It's not worth me saying its a big few days for kennels as I've been saying that for months now.
Tonight we will be double handed in Monmore Sprint Open with the inform Phoenix Bolt and Conors Legend whilst Loose Change and Start Itup Sweep will represent us in the 480 Maiden.
Tomorrow is the Semi Finals of the Betfred Eclipse at Nottingham in which Slippery Sooty and Exocet both represent us.
On Saturday it will be a long trip to Crayford as they host a good stayers race ideal for Boherna Bridge and Cape Impact will run in the Sprint.

Afew Dollarsmore got back to winning ways at Coventry last night at Coventry.

Ballymac Ace x Daughter of Peg Pups
Dave Yanez was on hand this morning to take some photos of one of Ballymac Ace's first litters. As you know Daughter of Peg was an outstanding bitch when also racing here. The pups will be posted for sale very soon.
It's a Cracker
Ballymac Cracker didn't let a two grade hike stop her last night at Monmore.
Cracker romped to a huge six length win to win in 28.25. Cracker bounced out of the traps again from her wide position and was never headed in the A4 contest.

Exocet sets Eclipse standard
As the team were recording a hatrick of winners at Romford the team also headed to the East Midlands to start a campaign for the Eclipse.
In Heat 1 Exocet didn't have everything his own way as the early pace was made by Mileheight Alba. Exocet stuck close to the leader then powered off the final bend to win by 2 lengths in 29.68.
Joining Exocet in the Semi Finals will be Slippery Sooty who snatched the third qualifying spot in Heat 2 in 30.17.

Sidelight shines in spotlight
As hoped, Sidelight delivered one of her fine running displays at Romford last night in the Final of the Coral on TV Stayers. Sidelight was quickly away from traps and once on the rails she was always going to prove difficult to pass. The Mark Wallis trained Reel Trickyone chased her down hard but couldn't get within the one length winning margin. The winning time was 35.55.
On the supporting card Creamery Empire recorded his second win for the kennel in the Maiden Stayers in 35.91. Empire really needed to dig deep to win by a neck.
Boherna Bridge then showed once again what a super dog he is when winning the marathon over 750 metres. Bridge overcame a real rough race to prevail in 47.78 by 1/2 length.

Sidelight back on song at Romford
Sidelight returned to winning ways last night with a superb performance at Romford.
Running in Heat 1 of the Coral on TV Stayers race, Sidelight was always in charge as soon as the traps had risen. Showing great early pace and clear the pace and then go on to win by 1/2 length in 35.88.
On the downside Sidelight has drawn a shocking trap 5 in Fridays Final.

Quest for winners
After last nights disappointment it was great to get back among the winners at Monmore this afternoon.
Baileys Quest has been an expensive dog to follow since his arrival in England so I hope connections took advantage of his huge odds of 10/1 when taking the A2 in 28.84 by 3/4 length. This lad deserves a change of luck so lets hope this was the start of it.
Local punters sent Ballymac Cracker off a warm 7/4 favourite to win the A6 and were rewarded when she recorded a smooth 1 1/2 win in 28.98.
Start Itup Sooty added another win to his growing record when he took the A3 in 28.79. Sooty over came early race traffic problems to get up where it mattered most to win by a neck.

Ellas Undecided - White/Blue Bitch - August 2012 - Moes Tavern x Ickledo Miranda
Last week I watched several of them being put through their paces at one of Irelands toughest tracks Clonmel. It was a wet windy night and the track was definitely on the slow side. One young potential top class act that caught my eye is only barely 14 months old baby. An August 2012 whelp showed some serious all round pace for one so young. Having only qualified last week in a super fast 29.16 at Limerick(her identity card was only issued last week the day of the trial!(qualifying time is 30.40) in her very 1st 525 yards, it was obvious that she had huge potential.
I asked the current owner to trial her at Clonmel last night and she did not disappoint. A big white and blue bitch she rocketed from traps to win by over 8 lengths in a tremendous winning time of 29.15. What also attracted me to this young pup is that her dam line breeding is the very same as our own 'Pots and Pans' who in my belief was going to be one of the best bitches in the UK until she got injured. This was only this pups 2nd ever 525 yards and make no mistake all she can do is improve greatly. If this pup was with one of the major breeding establishments in Ireland she would be costing well into the five figures such is the potential she has already shown.

However I have struck a deal with the current owner and she will cost no where near the five figures bracket. He had several enquiries after she qualified last week from leading owners and trainers here in Ireland and the UK as pups of her age and potential are a rare commodity at the minute.
With natural improvement and more schooling it is our belief that she will go on to win countless of major opens. Ideal for next years Midland Puppy Derby. Remember she can run in puppy class until next August 2014.

Fireworks leads to disaster
Last night Henlow Derby Final was ruined by a local protester by setting off fireworks as the dogs paraded for the big race. I'd like to congratulate the connections of Shaneboy Spencer who was a deserving winner. Smart Bid's third was a great achievement but I do really feel for the dogs and connections.
On the supporting card Gaelic Hawk recorded his first open race success when taking the 550 maiden with a superb all round performance. Taking the race by 3 1/2 lengths in 33.74.

Treble handed in Henlow Final
Tonight we travel to Henlow for their RPGTV Derby with three runners. You couldn't rule out any of our three runners, as all are very capable pending how the race is run. Shaneboy Spencer is very much the one to beat and we certainly not want to see him leading coming out of the first bend or our task will be even more difficult. Good luck to the connections of Cluxtons Free, Smart Bid and Strategic Review.
On the supporting card Gaelic Hawk goes in the 550 maiden and Incitatus goes in the Stayers.
Don't forget you can watch all the action on Racing Post Greyhound TV from 6.15pm.

Shiners Princess returned to winning ways at Monmore yesterday when taking the A4. Quickly into her stride, she showed good all round pace to win by 1 1/4 length in 29.13.
