Superb work from all the team at Henlow last night, where all three of our runners qualified for next weeks Derby Final. 

Smart Bid was as usual very brave when taking second place in the first Semi Final. After being outpaced to the corner, Smart Bid took advantage of a gap on the running rail to force his way through to move into a clear second behind Thinking Big. Whilst he couldn't close the gap on the early leader he still fight off the closing pack behind including Farloe Warhawk. The clock stopping at 27.76. 

With both Cluxtons Free and Strategic Review still very much on the come back trail we couldn't be confident in whether the dogs would run as well again. Cluxtons Free had a very easy week on the build up but impressed in a gallop on Friday morning.

As the traps rose Cluxtons Free missed the early kick and was out trapped by Benkaat Blue. However approaching the winning post for the first time Cluxtons showed an out of this world turn of pace to burst from last to first and actually go round the first bend in front. As Cluxtons Free took hold of the race, Strategic Review out battled the rest of the field to get clear in second place and then to chase Cluxtons. Review rallied all the way to the line and got with 1/2 length of Cluxtons in 27.73.

Daddy stars in Yarmouth Derby first round

Daddy Knowsbest continued his tremendous season on Saturday night when booking a place in Wednesdays second round when taking Heat 4 of the East Anglian Derby at Yarmouth.

Daddy showed some blistering pace from traps and rounded the first two bends superbly to help him force his way clear of the field. Daddy maintained his pace to win by two lengths in 27.72. 

The competition is very competittive as always with Daddy set to clash with Bubbly Phoenix on Wednesday.

Gaga is to classy for brave Incitatus

Well it was a long drive back from Yarmouth last night but you have to take your hats off to TV Trophy winner Musical Gaga and the Dean Childs team. Incitatus ran a very brave race to finish 3rd in a quality field. 

On the supporting card Sidelight suffered a sharp shove in the wrong direction on the bend and couldn't make up the ground lost whilst I thought Kirk Superstar certainly ran better than his 3rd placed suggested.

Afew Dollarsmore is Super Hove Stayer

On the supporting card at Hove Afew Dollarsmore added another win to his growing CV. 

Dollars missed the kick early on but followed the field closely. After a couple of failed attempts to push through the field he moved up a gear to show a great turn of pace to force his way up the inner and then force himself to the front round the final two bends. Dollars kicked clear off the last bend to win by 1 3/4 lengths by 41.52. 

Express Master denied in South coast classic

Express Master finished a brave second last night in the £10,000 Coral Sussex Cup on Hove. Master broke ok but it was Loughteen Bandit who came from from traps like a sprinter to lead into the first bend closley followed by Express Master. Master battled throughout but could never quite get on terms. On the final bend Master pushed again to challenge by Bandit closed the door again to deny our boy by 1/2 length in 29.58. 

Finishing runners up in Finals is always tough but congratulations to all the Cahill team.

Master recoups Sussex hopes after a shocking journey

Hove is always a long trip at any time of year but a serious accident on the M40 unfortunately meant kennelling time for the sprint so Drumcove Lad missed his engagement.

In the first Semi Final of Coral Sussex Cup, Express Master broke well and held his rails position well round the first two bends. Master showed some super back straight pace and then kicked further clear in the some straight to win by 6 lengths in 29.45.

We were hoping for Trap 1 once again in the Final but we can't be to disappointed with trap 2.

Drumcove Lad takes Festival Flyer

Drumcove Lad rolled back the years one more time for connections tonight by taking the £3,000 William Hill Flyer at Sunderland. Quickly into stride he needed to be brave around the first bend but as soon as the dog on the outside of him moved toward the middle our Lad was away and gone to win by 2 lengths in 15.61. What a dog !!
