Although Romford isn't a great journey from the Midlands you have to support a great track. Their open race programme is superb and they host a number a cracking small competitions.
They Maiden Stayers event over 575 metres looked ideal for a couple of our kennel and so it proved. Joscar ran on very strong in Heat 1 to take second place and seal a place in the Final. Sidelight went off a warm 5/4 favourite to take Heat 2 and he ran out a convincing winner by 1 1/2 lengths in 35.69. Fifis Legend lead early but finished unplaced. The inform Sharp Bullet took Heat 3 with a very brave performance to beat the fancied Caesars Rocket in 35.85.
Jennas Pony took the Bitches supporting open over 400 metres in 24.23. This ultra game bitch has now won nice races at Romford and is a real local favourite.

Taking our breath away
I love starting the week with a couple of winners and the team duly delivered today.
Newinn Flutter continued his consistent start to 2013 when taking the afternoons A3 in 29.37. Flutter stayed on very sweetly in the final straight and could be worth a chance over six bends.
Takemybreathaway is a different dog when he gets on the bunny and once he cleared the traps in front today there was no catching him as he strode to his first A8 success in 29.03 by 2 3/4 lengths.

Pups star as conditions thaw
Thankfully the cold snap started to relent over the weekend as two of our younger recruits landed the odds at Monmore.
The superbly named Fifis Wii Pal recorded his first career win when taking an A10 at the 4th attempt. Fifis blasted away from traps and then held on gamely to win in 29.82.
Ballymac Pixie made it two wins from four starts when putting in a strong front running performance to win by two lengths in 29.18.

Dara has some Ego !
Loyal owner Dara McCarthy was fastest out the traps to secure Larky Ego after I posted the capture on the blog. He was so impressed with her debut run and even more when he found out how reasonably priced she was.
I'd like to wish Dara all the very best of luck with her.

Bullet takes A1 in sticky going
On another cold night at Monmore the going was favouring the inside throughout the night. We had to settle for one winner which was Sharp Bullet who took the evenings A1 in 28.76. Bullet was never headed after a speedy exit from traps. This was Bullets sixth career win from 32 starts.

Larky Ego to land a Westview
As we are all aware we are constantly offered numerous exciting young racers that emerge on the Irish race tracks some which we feel are not quite good enough while others are simply way over priced.
Here at Westview Kennels we pride ourselves on being able to source young majestic racers. One young pup emerged over the weekend on the Irish tracks, she quite simply produced a breathtaking display which has made her hot property. It had a lot of the leading owners and trainers in the Emerald Isle and the UK looking to secure her.
We have acted fast to acquire her as the display she produced was simply top drawer for one so young. Please bear in mind, it was achieved in freezing conditions and the track was anything but running fast. Her winning time was 3 lengths quicker than the top open race of the night!
'Larky Ego' was backed into a 4-7 Fav on the basis of her schooling trials, 28.68 at Limerick. She never gave her supporters a moments worry as she rocketed from traps and simply spreadeagled the field to leave them chasing shadows. In a class of her own from the word go she won by a massive 12 lengths in a majestic winning time of 28.89.
Yes a quite brilliant run for one so young. If we take into consideration her age, breeding and the fact that the track was anything but fast on the night. All this precocious puppy can do is improve.****1st in 28.89 525 yards race Limerick****(won by 12 lengths - Major open class run)FASTEST TIME OF THE NIGHTWINTER GOING
A 2 1/2 year old open race (Selinas Dahilia) dog who had previously won in 28.67 at Limerick led from trap to line the same night and won in 29.01, so the track was at least .30 spots back from a fast track.
Make no mistake this young pup has it all. Top class all round pace as well as top class 'Classic' winning breeding.
Her sire 'Express Ego' was a champion. Its the same breeding as our own brilliant 'Express Shuttle' , 'Express Ego' - won the Juvenile invitation at Wimbledon, Irish Derby finalist.
Her dam - 'Moneygall Lucky' has already produced this years 25,000k Irish Produce stakes winner - 'Power of God' trained by Owen Mckenna, 28.44 Shelbourne - 28.30 Tralee.
This is also the exact same dam line as the legendary bitches 'Shelbourne Becky' - Irish Oaks winner & 'Hillcroft Josie'- Munster oaks winner - Champion bitch stake winner Thurles - Track record holder Galway - 28.33. These 2 bitches have won over 120,000 in prizemoney alone.
As the above shows this pup has a sensational dam line that has proven 'classic' winning breeding.
Naturally we are delighted 'Larky Ego' will be joining us here at Westview as the performance she produced on such cold winter conditions she can only improve further.
It is our belief if she was running on a summer 'fast track' she would have recorded a 28.50 - 28.60 run such is the class and pace she possesses. Once here we will give her time to settle in and will then aim her at all the major open race puppy competitions including the Puppy Oaks.
Please phone me direct to discuss this exciting young talent further.
Mac just denied in Worthingtons Final
Roy Nicholl's white and fawn Whitefort Mac put in a super performance on Monday evening in the Worthingtons Standard Final. Mac lead every where except the line as he showed his fabulous all round pace. It was only track record holder Sawpit Sensation's last lunge that took the race from Mac. It was a great run and I'm hoping I can win Roy a big Final in 2013.

Kick start Monday
Two winners on a Monday afternoon always starts the week off well. At a snow bound Monmore the going was slow due to the amount of salt that was needed to be placed on the track to make it rateable.
Paidis Peata ran out a very convincing 4 1/2 length winner of the S2 with an all the way victory in 38.79. This honest bitch has now won 8 races from her 47 races. I have no doubts she will be a bitch that always picks up her share of wins.
Proud Darkie showed some real courage when the young pup suffered a hefty heave on the first bend only to recover to take his second career win taking the A7 in 29.83.

Ace's pups arrive at Westview
Our very own Ballymac Ace first pups have settled nicely at kennels and were certainly enjoying the snow this morning. These pups are eight weeks old and are really thriving. Lets hope they turn out well and give Ace a great start to his stud career.
Gould's Reward
Despite the serious weather loyal owner Mike Gould missed the cancellation notice that kennels were closed and turned up. With the lanes frozen we put him to work around the kennels with Big Steve. Never one to turn down a free pair of hands, Steve rewarded Mike with his very own tin of Chicken Noodle Soup ! Thanks for your help Mike and hope you enjoy your soup !
In the bleak mid-winter
Shades of Daysa recorded her first win of 2012 when she took last nights A2. After a burst of early pace she needed to dig deep off the last bend to hang on by a short head in 29.36. This bitch has some real guts and you couldn't ask any more of her on such a horrible cold night.
Westmead Sheba didn't let the rise in grade stop her winning again as she ran out a 3/4 length winner of the A7 in 29.81. This is two wins and a second place from just four races, she is shaping up to be a nice bitch.

Ballycowen's welcome return
It was great to get Ballycowen Dave back on the track last week, he was one of our star performers of 2012. Henlow played host for his comeback and he did not disappoint. Dave was quickly away from his trap 5 draw to his genuine all round pace to take the 460 metre contest in 28.16. Lets hope he comes out of the race well and we can start plotting some competitions with him.

Kennels Closed
Due to very poor road conditions we have had to make the decision to close kennels to all owners tomorrow on Sunday 20th January. Sorry for any inconvenience but I've tried to leave it as long as we can.

Woody takes S1
Wood Lee recorded her first Monmore win last night at a very cold Monmore Green. Making her debut over over 6 bends she stormed to a 3 3/4 length win in 38.78. This lass had some smart form in Ireland with wins at Galway, Dundalk and Drumbo Park so I'm really hoping we can unlock her potential at Westview Kennels.

Sidelight stars at Notts
The stunning brindle Sidelight put in a stunning run at Nottingham on Monday evening to take the 480 metre maiden at Nottingham. Sidelight was quickly away from traps and was never headed taking the race in 28.72.
Whitefort Mac will contest our first final of 2013 as he reached the Worthington Standard Final over 500 metres when finishing second to Sawpit Sensation in 30.10. Sensation will be tough to beat next week however I sure Mac will run a very big race indeed.

I have four super dogs to blog for sale tonight. All are available for inspection and will be sold on a first come first served basis. Please note their particular young ages and the times they have recorded already.

Ballymac Clara (Westmead Hawk x Ballymac Dot) September 2011. This young bitch has finished runner up on her two runs in A7 and A6 at Monmore to date. Looks to have a great attitude and could well be one to fly through the grades. £2,000
Ballymac Pixie (Burnpark Champ x Ballymac Cait) September 2011. This girl took a competitive A7 on the 10th January at Monmore in 29.69 staying on very sweetly and really catching the eye. Her mother was a multiple winner in Ireland which included a 28.77 win round Tralee. This bitch would give any new owner at great deal of fun in the coming years.
Farloe thekid (Tyrur Lee x Farloe Reserve) June 2011. This lad has just taken a few weeks to settle but I feel he is now ready to win. He is a very well bred dog who will win plenty of races in 2013. £1,500.

Kara is Queen in Bonus Final
Shades of Kara took the £500 first prize in the Owners series Final at Monmore today with a polished performance. Showing some good early pace from her wide position she avoided the trouble behind her as she went on to take the A3 Final in 29.63 by 1/2 length.
There was a good first win for Sids Ninja who put in a super display to win by 1 1/2 in 29.63. This lad is a handy sort and will be another pup to follow this year. To win an A3 at this young age can't be underestimated.

Razor Sharp
Copeland Razor defied his tender age and experience last night to make it two wins from his last three starts at Monmore. The March 2011 pup out of Collision x Copeland Poppy simply pinged from traps and was never headed to take the A4 in 28.85 by two lengths. Dogs with genuine early pace can win so many races at Monmore, this lad looks promising.
Speaking of very young pups Westmead Sheba was only born in July 2011. She recorded her first win when showing some genuine all round pace to win in 29.44. This type of girl could be one that just keeps improving with every run.

Jessies Gold meets new owners
Proud new owners Peter and Linda Symonds met up with their latest signing this morning at kennels. Jessies Gold is a super well bred pup who they won in the Christmas Football Card raffle. I'd like to wish them all the very best with Jessies and thank every one for having a go. See you all Sunday.
Team on fire at the Green
A fantastic five week winners for our home team at Monmore last night. Kirk Superstar got us on the scoreboard when the young son of Ninja Jamie x Cabra Fly made it two wins from three starts when taking the A5 in 29.79.
Ballymac Pixie recorded her maiden win when she stayed on best to take the A7 in 29.69, a promising career beckons.
In the S2 race 9.30pm we had the first three past post with Galtee Judy taking the kennel bragging rights by winning in 39.32. Yorkshire Lady provided the class performance on a competitive evening of racing by making it back to back wins in S1 winning by 3 3/4 lengths in 38.68. Shiners Princess rounded off a great night by taking the A2 in 29.01.

Options for Bullet
Sharp Bullet lost his maiden open race tag over 550 metres last night at Henlow. The interesting Bedfordshire circuit always proves a good test for a dog as you need all skills to win there. Bullet started well and stole a lead round the third bend. His work was not complete there though as he had to fight off a late challenge of Westmead Meteor to win in 34.08.

Kick start to week
A flying treble at Monmore today to start us off well for the week. Newinn Flutter opened our account when making it two wins on the bounce taking the A4 in 29.19. Flutter stormed clear coming out of the third bend to win by 3 3/4 lengths.
Catsrock Impact recorded her first win in the S3 with a super staying performance in 39.53. Judging by the winning distance of 5 1/4 lengths she could well be troubling the judge again even with another rise in grade.
It looks like the penny is now starting to drop for young bitch Blue Hurricane. She got up where it mattered to take the afternoons A9 in 29.85 by a neck.

Mills and Pony produce the goods
Tae Mills is definitely enjoying Coventry more than he did at Monmore and last night he recorded his third graded win there taking the A1 with an all the way victory in 29.42. Hopefully this nice dogs will keep producing the goods for his connections.
Jennas Ponny recorded her 17th career victory when taking the D1 sprint with a gutsy effort over 263 metres taking the race in 15.94.

Proud Peformances
The very promising Prous Eds Queen made it three wins from just six starts when taking this afternoons A3 in 29.24 by a hard fought 3/4 length. The bitch was a very big future over four bends and then six bends as she matures.
Ladie Sadie took the honours in todays first race which look a very competitive A4. Sadie was well away from traps and was never headed taking the race in 29.42.

Track Craft
Good work to report from Monmore Green last night. Dixies Craft put in a top class performance when recorded a huge six length victory in the A2 in 28.65. The 5/4 starting suggests Dixies landed the odds for plenty of the local punters. Dixies Craft became our first win of 2013.
Yorkshire Lady added another win to her super career when taking the S1 with a very strong staying performance. Lady stayed on where in mattered most to take the contest by a head in 38.97.

Happy New Year to all
Happy New Year to all our owners, blog, Twitter and Facebook followers. Lets hope we all have plenty of winners in 2013 and the dogs can come home injury free.
Have a great New Year !!!
New Years Eve Party
We finished 2012 with a handful of winners at Monmore. Copeland Razor didn't let the step up to A5 stop him winning again as he stayed on strongly to win in 29.20. Newinn Flutter was another dog who showed his staying power when he stayed on best to take the second A5 in 29.54 by 2 lengths. Bradgate Star who suffered a rise in grade despite winning since he joined us from Nottingham but thankfully he proved the grader was right as he recorded a neck victory in the A6 in 29.48.
