Green winners continue as year draws to close

The seasonal break has enabled all the team to have a few days off which is important as we all need to recharge our batteries after a busy year.

Fridays meeting gave us two winners with Catsrock Impact winning her first race over 6 bends when taking the S4 in 39.86. She was returned a huge 10/1, that could have paid for a few presents !

Torchbearer is now moving through the grades and added an A5 to his CV winning in 29.75. This lad will keep improving with the more experience he gets.

Saturday night a few of our stars of 2013 were on show. Atouchofvenus got us rolling when she showed her class in the A1 in 29.07. The going was very slow so she had to dig on all her reserves to get up to win.

Son of Cabra Fly, Kirk Superstar, started his career with a bang when putting in a gutsy effort to win in 29.98. I'm sure this A7 win will be just the start.

Westmead Garcia followed up his debut win with another superp performance when taking the A2 in 29.34. This win was about early pace rather than staying on strong, plenty of options for this lad for the New Year.

Lucky 13 chances left

I have 13 teams left on the the football card to win a pup ! Once all sold I will be making the draw live at Monmore.

All you need to do is pick a football team which features on the football scratch card and if your team is revealed you are the winner.
This year the pup to be won is Jessies Gold. This 37kg brute of a dog is bred out of Ballymac Ruso and Borna Jessica. The 12 month old black dog was bred in Ireland by Rachel Wheeler and is Jessica's first Litter.

The Dam Borna Jessica was Monmore Green bitch of the year in 2011, she also won many opens all round the country and was a semi finalist of the Oaks at Wimbledon. Jessica is out the Borna Fence line which has thrown top class open races in every litter including, Fatboyz Romeo, Fatboyz Eagle,Borna George and Sidelight. The Sire Ballymac Ruso was a superstar on the track and he is throwing dogs with serious early pace.

Make no mistake this pup which is the only one of the litter, has had the best rearing you can possibly get and he is chasing mad keen behind the drag hare.

Teams are £25 each. If interested please call me. The following teams remain :-WIMBLEDON, SWANSEA, SWINDON, PLYMOUTH,  CHARLTON, FULHAM, WIGAN,  CREWE, BLACKBURN, BOLTON
OLDHAM,DERBY AND GRIMSBY

Lightning strikes at Monmore

Lightning Sky made a great start to his career with us on Boxing Day when impressing when taking the A4 by 1 1/2 lengths in 29.80. This son of Westmead Hawk x Ballymac Mir could be one to follow in 2013.

The young improving Takemybreathaway made it two wins from his last 3 starts when taking the A9 in  30.05. The 4 length win will no doubt result in another rise in grade but the way this lad is running I could see him winning again.

Another dog in great form is Direct Hit who was sent off a very warm 6/4 favourite for the S2. Hit was slow away from traps but stormed home when others were struggling to record his third win from four starts in 40.55

With the weather looking half decent today why not join us at Monmore for todays meeting. The action kicks off at 11am but don't leave it late to arrive as a big crowd is expected.

If More Toe can find his trapping boots he could take advantage in the A8 at 12.04pm.

Admission is totally free and the gates open at 10.00am

Happy Christmas to all

I'd like to wish all our owners, website/blog readers, suppliers and friends around the county all the very best seasonal wishes. I hope you all have a fantastic Christmas and I look forward to seeing you soon.

Finally I'd to congratulate connections of Droopys Diop who won the Bobby Allsopp Memorial race at Coventry last night.

Newcastle are crowned BAGS Champions

Congratulations to all the team from Newcastle who deservedly took the BAGS Championship yesterday afternoon at Perry Barr who hosted a fantastic event.

The format has been a tremendous success and lets hope it continues for many years.

The final score from yesterday was :- Newcastle 79, Peterboro 49, Hove 48, Belle Vue    45, Monmore 35, Swindon 23.

Seasonal thoughts and winners

The promising son of Ace Hi Rumble x Kurious Incident ,Who Thought It, made it back to back wins at Monmore on Friday when taking  the A5 in 29.34

Moving to Saturday, Goa Getta impressed when taking the 416 metre open in 25.41. Proud Darkie was sent off a warm 5/4 favourite to make amends for his near miss on debut. There were no mistakes this time as Darkie lead all the way to take the A9 in 29.98.

Westmead Garcia made a stunning debut in typical Westmead fashion when storming home in the A3 by a length in 29.41. This lad looks to be a great addition to the team for 2013.

Day of reckoning for BAGS Championship

This Sunday sees Perry Barr host the BAGS Championship Finals. It has been a fantastic competition once again and Monmore will start Sundays racing as favourites as bid to retain last years trophy win.

Representing us first will be Droopys Julie who looks to have a stiff task in the Bitches race. Farloe Gambit takes his chance in the Stayers race over 660 metres whilst Sidelight will try to continue to build his reputation in the Puppy race.

Try and come along if you and support the might Monmore, come on the Green !

Early Christmas present

The team were on fire at Monmore on Thursday night as we returned home with a bag full of winners.

First to obigle was Farloe Turbo who took advantage of the drop to A4 by winning in 29.67. Shades of Kara is sneaking up the grades and she took the A5 by staying on sweetly to win in 29.92. The pictured Paidis Peata really showed her gutsy spirit when digging deep to take the stayers S2 by a neck in 40.03.   Bawna Major was our final winner of the night when he took the final A4 in 29.39.

Much to look forward to

We are heading to Wimbedon on Thursday evening as we have two runners on the supporting card for the Oaks Final. Peggys Style goes in the Stayers event at 9.10pm whilst Drumcove Lad tries to put a difficult hear behind him in the Sprint at 8.35pm. Make sure you cheer on the team on Sky.

On Sunday at Coventry, Joscar represents us in the Bobby Allsopp Memorial Puppy Trophy, sponsored by myself in memory of my late father Bob.

Hats off to Wallis team

I'd like to congratulate Mark Wallis and his team on another big final win after picking up the Golden Muzzle at Coventry on Sunday.

Mark has had a unbelievable year and is the worthy champion trainer for 2012.

Running a stormer in Sprint title

Goa Storm was always going to struggle upon reaching the National Sprint Final at Nottingham and was rated a 12/1 chance by the local bookmakers.  In Mondays Final Storm was crowded badly on the first bend but battled on well to take third place in 18.13 behind Jumeirah Dubai. A very pleasing performance and we are proud of his National Sprint campaign.

Queen shines on Monday BAGS

Proud Eds Queen made it two wins from just three starts when taking Monday A5 in 28.89. This young bitch out of Westmead Hawk x Proud Eds Queen looks like a great recruit to the kennels and connections have something to really look forward to in 2013.

More Toe is one of the best bred dogs in the kennels and it was great to see the young son of former kennel star Droopys Ivanovic lose his maiden tag when beating kennelmate and brother Takeyourbreathaway by 1 3/4 length in the A9, stopping the clock at 29.54.

Shout the boys home in the Darts

It's that time of year when we all get gripped by the PDC Darts on Sky. Our very own Will Adamson from the Cleveland Arms has tipped up Phil Taylor at 5/2 and Garry Anderson at 16/1. As most of you know Gary has been linked to the kennels for many years. G Force Direct was his last good dog with us and I know he has eye on something for the New Year.

Wayne Jones currently has a leg in both Take Your Breath Away and Direct Hit. Whilst Brendan Dolan is involved in the Daughter of Peg pups and keep an ear our for the name Historymaker in 2013 !

Christmas Owners Morning Part 2

Christmas Owners Morning - Part 1

Who would have thought it

Who Thought It made it two wins from his last three starts when taking last nights A6 at Monmore. He was well away from traps but could have easily been put off with the trouble on the run to the bend but he fought his way clear and recorded a 1/2 length win in 29.39

The July 2011 pup Strategic Review caught the eye in his trials so it was no surprise to see him star on debut. Quickly away from the traps he was never headed in the A3 contest winning in 28.44.

Santa's five star team

A massive afternoon for us at Monmore on Friday as we registered five winners. Old girl Rosmult Plover didn't let a rise in grade stop her winning again as she took the A7 in 29.66. The consistent Shades of Kara is a very consistent bitch who always gives her all and she got a deserved seasonal win in 29.49

Head Iton Mags romped to a huge 5 3/4 length win in the S5. Her pace pace built up a huge advantage that could not be reeled in, the winning time being 40.33. Farloe Rihanna lost her maiden tag when taking the A8 in 29.86, hopefully this will be the first of many. Our final winner of the evening came from Direct Hit who had to fight all the way to line to win by a short head in 40.03 over the extended distance to land her first S3.

Wrap up for a Ninja Christmas

I am please to offer you a serious early pace puppy, which is good value for money and showing signs of becoming a real top class pup for 2013.

Blue Ninja is available for sale, he is the last pup remaining to sell out of the fantastic litter, that includes Strategic Review all ready done sub 29.00 at Monmore in trials, Sids Ninja 4.29 split Monmore and 29.10 and also Mosca Flyer 16.11 at Coventry in his second look around.

This pup is bred in the purple with sire Ninja Jamie who was an aeroplane on the track and is throwing great dogs including our very own, Smart Bid, Sharp Bullet and the dog we all miss who would of been a superstar Rooneys Lad.

Cabra Fly was one the fastest bitches I have ever trained and her dam is proven to throw the very best. Blue Ninja certainly looks the real deal and his times around Clonmel suggest to me that he will definitely turn out into a open racer and with his early pace he is a perfect pup for the upcoming Monmore Puppy Derby in March.

He has had three looks around the Clonmel circuit, 16.68 in his first sprint then a superb 16.49. In his first ever 525 last week Ninja did a fantastic 29.38, which is a great run for a young July 2011 pup. That time would compare to a sub 29.00 run around
Shelbourne Park and Monmore Green.

He is priced fairly and only to stay in the kennel.

£4500

As normal call me, first come first serve basis.

Storm surprises all in National Sprint

Goa Storm shocked every one on Monday evening when taking the 1st Semi Final of the National Sprint at Nottingham.

Reigning champion Drumcove Lads and Little Reindeer broke moderately but a surge from Comeragh King took hold of the race early one. Goa Storm simply took off to fly up against the running rail to win in 17.90 and take a place in the prestigious Final next week.

Back at Monmore Proud Eds Queen recorded her first success when taking A6 with an assured performance to win in 29.04

Mac takes golden route to Muzzle final

The Roy Nicholls owned Whiteford Mac took the first Golden Muzzle Semi Final on Sunday to defy his huge 10/1 odds at Coventry.

Mac was up with the pace throughout the race and then kicked clear rounding the turn for home to record a 29.31 success by two lengths. Sadly Fifis Legend and Joscar won't be in the Final with him as they were eliminated from the second Semi Final

Across the card winners

Seven winners across the cards at Coventry and Monmore was a great reward for the team who have been working so hard of late.

Sarasota Nelson got us up and running when romping to a 5 1/2 length in the D1 Sprint over 263 metres. Nelson simply pinged from traps and was never headed to win in 15.93. Tae Mills proved our decision to switch him to Coventry was right as he landed the A3 in 29.63. Another dog who looks like he had adapted to Coventry is Moscaville who showed plenty of promise when taking the A6 in 30.34. Go Leprechaun made her grading debut a winning one when taking the A5 in 29.80.

Over at Monmore Blue Hurricane recorded his first victory when he took the A10 in 29.59.  Galtee Judy has been a model grader though out her career and she added another win to her CV when adding a S2 win this time in 38.38. Our final winner of the night came care of Aphrodites Touch who was sent off a warm even money favourite by the bookmakers. The punters had no worries in truth as Touch made the most of her rails position to lead early in the race and stride to a 28.40 success. This bitch should win plenty of more races.

Decision denies us in Bitches Final

Despite being treble handed in the Monmore Festival Bitches Final on Friday we had to settle for a 3rd, 4th and 5th place. Mutual Decision who is a proven performer around Monmore took the race with a very polished performance to win by 2 3/4 lengths in 28.34

All owners current and old are welcome to come and share a drink with the team. There will be loads to look forward to including the raffle of a pup, good food, refreshments, selection boxes for the kids and a great winter walk with your dogs down the lanes.

Pair progress in National Sprint

Whilst we left Nottingham without a winner both our National Sprint contenders qualified for the Semi Finals.

Goa Storm finished second to Oscars Cobra in 17.84. Storm stuck to his task very well after suffering crowding on the first bend.

Reigning champion Drumcove Lad (pictured) is still very much a real contender despite spending a lot of the year on the sidelines. Lad came to win Heat 6 but was forced to check approaching the line which cost him his chance of winning. He was involved in the photo put the print showed he had finished third.

The pair have been drawn together in Mondays Semi Final.

Mac shows his class in the Golden Muzzle

It's great to be going to Coventry for competitions again. On Sunday night the Golden Muzzle got going with six competitive heats over 485 metres.

Whitefort Mac (pictured) showed his class by taking Heat 1 by 3/4 length from in form kennel mate Joscar in 30.40. Rusheen Major will go into the draw for next round as he finished second in 30.09

Well done to all at Coventry.

Lawrence Jones Festival swings into action

The pre-xmas Christmas Monmore Festival started this afternoon with some fantastic competitions gracing our home track.

We started very well in the Bitches competition with Sidelight chasing home Atouchofvenus (pictured) who took Heat 2 and both clinching a place in the Final with a 28.11 win. Joining those two in the Final will be Weadmead Athena who took Heat 3 with a very gutsy win in 28.53

We were out of luck in the Dogs competition as Sharp Bullet was unplaced. Peggys Style, Yorkshire Lady and Mays Stopagoback suffered the same fate in the stayers.

Goa Getta will be out for revenge in the 416 Final against Lil Risky as he finished second to Mark Wallis's great open racer in 24.53.

Sky Video Clip from Leger Final night

Having a Barney

Two of newest recruits clashed at Monmore last night. Proud Barney took the honours beating Proud Eds Queen who finished in third in the A6 contest. Both are very nice pups and I'd urge you to follow them over the coming months as they could quickly move through the grades. Last nights winning times was 28.44

Who thought it had be fancied strongly on his his first two runs but had to settle for place money. The local punters were in no mood to miss out and backed him once again to send him off a warm 7/4 favourite again. The punters had no such worries this times as Who Thought It was never headed to win in 28.80

Droopys Julie warmed up the BAGS Final with a super staying performance in the A2. Julie suffered traffic problems off the second and third bends but stayed on strongly to win in 28.37.

Kennel Hand Needed

I currently have a kennel hand position to fill. The new member of the team must be experienced with dogs, be able to drive and understand the needs to work hours to support our growing business.

Please call if interested.

Shades of Yeah

The ever improving bitch Shades of Daysa (Pictured) added another win to her record with a 3 3/4 win on Friday afternoon at Monmore. The daughter of Scarty Lad made the most of her fast start from the five box to lead all the way to win in 28.41

Another bitch taking advantage of a wide draw was Paidis Paeta who took the S3 by leading all way to win in 38.19. This was the bitches 5th career win.

The young Ladie Sadie made it a real ladies afternoon for our team when she took continued her progress up the grades by taking the A5 with a real gutsy display to win in 28.46

Torchbearer leads the team to night of glory

Five fantastic winners for kennel last night at Monmore.  The young bitch Torchbearer recorded her maiden win when running away with the A7 by 3 1/2 lengths in 29.05. The ultra consistant Farloe Turbo overcame crowding on the first bend to take the A4 in 29.13. The odds of 6/1 surprised us all !

This followed with a victory when Farloe Hawk stayed on very strongly to win the A5 by a comfortable 3 lengths in 28.97. Solid Merlot put his early pace to good use when recording an A4 win in a very pleasing 28.79. Goa Storm put in the performance of the night when the son of Express Ego took a very competitive A1. Storm blasted out under traps and built up an a lead what was never closed until the closing stages. Storm took the race in 28.38

Monday, 26 November 2012

Missy's early pace does the trick again

Miss Capulet once again put her early pace to good use when recording her third victory from her last six starts. The A8 victory in 29.57 shows how something has really clicked for this bitch. If she keeps trapping like this I can see her adding to her total of wins quickly.

Bawna Major finally got a break from the grader and duly took advantage of the drop to A5 by taking the contest in 28.74 by 3 1/4 lengths. Lets hope the dog doesn't have to wait six months for his next win.
