Warrior lands Boxing Day punch

A quality double from our team at Monmore on Boxing Day. In front of a bid crowd as normal, Ballymac Warrior won the big race of the day, an A1, with a superb run. Breaking quickly from trap 6 Warrior was never headed to win by 1 1/2 lengths in 28.51

Earlier on the card Luminous Walk also made a speedy exit from the traps to stretch the field in the A3. Dog Vader and Conor Legend tried to make a race of it but could only get within a length in 28.90

I would also like to congratulate Corren Prince on winning the Bobby Allsopp Memorial Race with Tullymurry Santa.

Princess and Tyler earn Mince Pie Treat

A great double for the team last night on the last evening meeting before Christmas.

Proud Pegs Tyler continued his move up and through the grades by taking a very tough A1  by a head in 28.83. Shiners Princess made it 2 wins from her last 3 starts when putting in a superb performance in the A2 to win by short head in 29.16. Princess hanging on well and holding off the late challenge of kennel mate Dacent Kacy.

Selra Pride to join team Westview

Selra Pride
April, 12 black dog, 33kg
College Causeway x Howleys Pride
This promising pup who is  bred exceptional, looks like turning into a top class stayer. His Sire, Derby winner College Causeway is starting to breed some nice pups now and his dam Howleys Pride has all ready through top class dogs such as Honcho Beag and Caesara Rocket.
Selra Pride has only had three races, in his first two he had no luck in running at all, but that all changed on December 14th when he blew holes in the opposition winning by over 12 lenghts in a stunning 29.28 at Harrolds Cross over the 525 trip.
This April 12 pup qualifies for the Monmore puppy derby in March, all though being bred out of the great College Causeway it looks like he would want a six bend trip in time.
We try to sell dogs that are value for money- e.g Five Alley Queen, Proud Pegs Tyler, Gaelic Hawk and many more, so at £3000 Selra Pride looks a real bargain.
As always first come first serve basis.

Kennel Visits Update

Please note kennels will be open as normal today (Sunday) but closed on the 29th December as I try and plan some time off for all the staff.

Review and Hawk shine at Monmore

Two nice open race winners for us at Monmore last night. Strategic Review bounced back to form by taking the Ladbrokes.com 480 with an all the way victory by 2 1/2 lengths in 28.33

Earlier on the card Gaelic Hawk continued his move up the ranks by taking the Ladbrokes.com 630 by 2 lengths in 38.87. The son of Westmead Hawk x Black Biscuit could well have a fantastic 2014.

Rocket team seal the deal

Will Adamson, Jeff Thomas, Dean Martin and Baz Kinight were first off the mark to snap up 1/4 shares in the promising Dixies Rocket.

Good Luck Boys - Lets hope you have a great 2014

Rolling back the years

Boherna Bridge rolled back the years on Monday night when bouncing away from traps to take the Veterans Open at Nottingham in 28.70. The 480 metre trip was much to short but he raced round like a young puppy to reward connections at a huge 8/1 and a winning margin of 2 3/4 lengths.

Sadly Cuxtons Free was eliminated from the National Sprint.

Kirk Superstar - Monmore 416 Final - Monmore Greyhound Stadium

Gaelic Hawk lands Christmas Bonus

No doubt Gaelic Hawk will receive an early Christmas present from his connections this morning after putting in an impressive run at Monmore last night to win the A1.

Hawk was always on terms after a solid start and led round the outer. On the turn the home the free running Tullymurry Santa made a charge from the back of the field but Hawk ran on strong to hang on to win by a neck in 28.68

New litter of pups arrive

Only this week we received charge of a brilliantly bred litter of Pups. Pups of this calibred of breeding seldom come on the open market.

Only 3 months old (Sept 2012 whelps) the litter that arrived consists of 2 dogs and 3 bitches and what fantastic bloodlines they possess by - Hondo black - who is one of the number 1 stud dogs in racing today - The  sire of such greats as 'Slippery Robert' - 2013 Irish derby winner - 'Musical Gaga' The TV Trophy winner - 'Farloe Tango' 2013 ST leger winner etc.

These pups dam line is blessed with serious breeding - Their dam - 'Raynes Park' is by 'Droopys Kewell' x 'Quare Diamond'

'Raynes Park' herself was a Major open class racer - she recorded such flying times as 29.08 at Youghal - 28.86 at Tralee she reached the final of several big 'Oaks' competitions in Ireland.

She then raced at Monmore where she won several opens - including times of 28.36 & 28.41 & 15.54

She was specifically kept for breeding as her dam line is from  the famous 'Quare' line - 'Quare diamond' is a daughter of brood bitch of the year 'Little diamond UK' who produced such legends as  'Droopys Maldini' 'Droopys Marco' - & 'Droopys Scolari'

This is a proven cross as major open racers such as the likes of 'Killieford deal' & Killieford Khali' - 2013 English leger finalist 123 rated on Data 29.64 at Notts 500m. have the exact same sire (Hondo Black x Quare deal) and dam line.

These beautiful pups can be viewed this weekend at the Kennels - dogs with their breeding are regularly sold for 5 figures when they are racing.

Why not buy one of them at an early stage at a price that wont even cost you 4 figures? - Viewing highly recommended.

Are you ready for Christmas Owners Party ?

It's full steam ahead with our preparations for Sunday.

The raffle on Sunday will have a first prize of a pick of  a litter bred in the purple pups 16 weeks old  Hondo Black x Raynes Park. Fully reared up to 12 months of age.

Raynes Park litter sister Quare Deal has through open class in every litter, including Killieford Blaze, Killieford Khali, Killieford Deal, Killieford Jazz and many more.

Come and try your luck on Sunday.

Feel free to come and walk your dogs from 10.00am and the party will follow from 11.30am

Dixies rockets into westview

At this time of year we look to bolster our open race team with emerging young talent appearing on the racetracks.

We try to concentrate on Pups Born in April or younger - so that we can aim them at Our local Midland Puppy derby at Monmore (Starts March). This is a major category one event.

Last year, we won it of course with the top class 'Cluxtons Free' - We also finished 2nd with the equally talented 'Strategic review'.

These sort of calibre of young pups are fetching big money - For example, only today we tried to buy a June 2012 whelp who won in 27.36 for the 460 metres - However the current owner has already refused £35,000 for him!

Our Main man in  Ireland whose record is second to none in buying major classic winners as just landed us a massive coup.

A lot of the major owners and trainers were after this young pup with his top class pace & breeding.

'Dixies Rocket' is only a May 2012 whelp - By 'Droopys Kewell' x 'Pedro on air'

Only last week - this brilliantly bred pup made a phenomenal racing debut.

Badly Drawn in trap 6 (Wants the rails) - he showed electric early to easily make the 1st bend in front and from here it was all one way traffic as he ran right away from his field to win by 6 lengths in a flying time of 28.82.

       *****1st in 28.82 525 yards race Limerick*****
(Major open class run) for a pup of his age

A real top class display from this hugely exciting puppy - All he can do is improve further.

Just take a look at his breeding and judge for yourself - By 'Droopys Kewell' who has of course produced major classic winners.

However this pups dam line is equally special - His dam 'Pedro on air' - was major open class in Ireland - By - 'wheres Pedro' who of course was one of the worlds greatest stud dogs - Sire of the likes of 'Coolavanny bert'

Pedro on Air - is out of 'Always on air' who produced the legendary - 'Barnfield on Air' - one of the fastest dogs ever seen in the UK

The Select stakes winner - Broke 4 track records.

She is also the dam of the likes of 'Boherna best' - All England cup winner. English Laurels winner. This is also the exact same dam line

as the likes of 'Lenson Joker' - The Cesarewitch winner - Greyhound of the year in the UK - & 'Elwick Chris' - The Laurels winner.

As the above shows this young pup is classically bred.

A pup with this winning time and proven classic winning breeding is simply in scarce supply at the moment. If & when they do win they are asking huge five figure sums for them.

This pup was actually bought straight after he won in the parade ring that night - several other leading owners & trainers were trying to buy him even days after the race.

This pup has yet to mature fully and has yet to shed his puppy coat He has huge scope for improvement. - He arrived this week at the kennels after passing a thorough veterinary certificate from a leading vet in Ireland.

He can be viewed at the kennels anytime.

Dixies will be aimed at all the major puppy open competitions starting with the midland Puppy derby at Monmore - We negotiated a price for this pup which we feel represents a very reasonable price compared to with what some other young 12 whelps are making.

Please contact me direct to discuss this exciting pup further

Lawrence Jones Memorial Festival

As always the Lawrence Jones Memorial provided greyhound fans a feast of racing at Monmore.

Proud Pegs Tyler was our only survivor in the Puppy competition after finishing second in Heat 3 to Jaytee Seville. Tyler was on the wrong end of a short head defeat in 28.65 but will be hoping for a clear run in the Final.

In the main competition Strategic Review ran the best to finish 3rd but was eliminated along side Ballymac Warrior and Daddy Knowsbest.

Afew Dollarsmore battled on well in the Stayers Competition over 684 metres to finish second in 41.89 but will have it all to do again in a very hot looking Final.

Our only winner of the day came care of Cape Impact who is having a great second half of the year. Impact took Heat 3 from an unfavourable trap 4 to win in 24.56. Impact will be joined in the Final by kennel mate Kirk Superstar who finished second in 25.03. Don't rule either of these two out in Fridays Final.

Saturday Night Moment

Pleasant Moments recorded her first win for connections at Monmore last night when making the most of a drop into A3 graded company. The daughter of Head Bound x What A Diva led all the way to win  by 2 1/4 lengths in 29.08.

Shades of Zeta is a bitch needing a break from the grader, but that break won't be coming now as she took a tough looking A2 with a convincing 1 1/2 length win in 29.15

Super Sky does it again at Monmore

Lightning Sky recorded his 13th career last night at Monmore when taking the evenings A2. Sky burst clear from his trap 6 berth and then to build up a clear lead. Off the final bend Lightning Sky needed to dig deep to hold off a late rally by Wally Billy to win by 1/2 length in 28.64

Exocet becomes first Irish winner

Roly Woodcock's Exocet became our first Irish winner last night when producing his customary top class performance to take the 575 Dandelion Night Club Night of Stars Open at Shelbourne Park.

Exocet bombed from the traps and made all to win by a length in 31.59. The win was one of the protest of my career. I would like to thank Declan Carey the racing manager for giving us the opportunity to take part in a brilliant nights racing. I also can't say enough for the superb sponsors of the night and a special mention to Pat Curtin for putting on a great show.
