Scott moves in for big puppy signing

We are delighted to announce that "Pots & Pans" who last Friday night became one of the youngest winners in Ireland this year is going to be joining us at West View Kennels.

Naturally their was huge interest in this young baby after her debut win at One of Ireland's Toughest and slower tracks - Thurles.

However our 'main man' in Ireland who has proved invaluable to the Kennel in securing us top open race talent - was quickly into his stride to secure us for loyal owner Paul Scott.

She was Passed 100% sound and fit by one of Ireland's Leading vets on Monday - Pat Dunne and will be arriving with us Friday morning.

"Pots & Pans" - is Only an April 10 whelp - and is brilliantly bred she is by "Ballymac Maeve" x "Minnies Miranda" - who has already produced the likes of "Tyrur Quinn" - 28.28 & 28.26 at Shelbourne Park.

We wish Paul Scott all the luck with this highly exciting puppy - and hopefully she can go on to become another "Mashed Potatoes" (pictured) - who was also owned by Paul.

Hawk and Park light up Puppy Classic

After some great performances we headed up the M42 hoping for a big night at Nottingham in the Caffreys Puppy Classic. Ballymac Park proved to be the fastest of the three semi-final winners.Park made the most of a fast start to dominate heat three from start to finish and record 30.08 for the 500-metre trip.

Maireads Hawk produced a game front-running performance to land the second semi-final beating the strong-running Freedom Cache by 1 1/4 lengths in 30.21.
Monday's £7,500 to the winner final: 1 Skywalker Teddy 2 Maireads Hawk 3 Farloe Iceman 4 Swift Frogma 5 Ballymac Park (m) 6 Freedom Cache (m)

Jason, Rocket and Champ all win and progress to Gold Cup Final

It's Charlie Listers Taylors Sky who  goes into Friday's £10,000 Ladbrokes Gold Cup final as the one to beat following a professional performance in Monday's semi-finals. The Derby champion did all that was asked/expected of him - leading into the first bend and railing superby to turn a one length lead into a four length advantage before they hit halfway. He held the gallant Longwood Fantasy by a shade over one length in 27.96. We had no less than four runners in the second semi final and it was his Freds Champ that made full use of a dream run to the turn to sprint clear and record a decisive 28.25 success. Brittons Empire just missing our on a place in the final by a short head. Bolt Ya Rocket (3rd) and Southern Dooey sadly both missed out in the third semi final.

Head Iton Jason had to dig deep to hold Inmperial Boy in the second heat of the Stayers' competition. However, his time of 37.75 suggested this was a very hot heat with the first three home all breaking the 38 second barrier. Fatboys Slim will join Jason in the Final after he was good second in the first heat in 38.39.

In the 416 competition Fifis Rocket was back to his superb best as he took heat three with a superb 24.28 .

Draws for Friday's finals:

Gold Cup: 1 Tonbrie Ji, 2 Ten Large Down, 3 Taylors Sky, 4 Ballymac Well, 5 Longwood Fantasy (m), 6 Freds Champ (m).

630m: 1 Fatboyz Slim, 2 Maxines Fancy, 3 Head Iton Jason, 4 Imperial Boy, 5 Glenbane Mile, 6 Minglers Sal.

Puppies: 1 Farloe Kraven, Bucks Blade, 3 Cleveland Peter (m), 4 Farloe Luigi (m), 5 Brave Display, 6 Share The Spoils (w).

416m: 1 Daisyfield Finch, 2 Droopys Wilson, 3 Fifis Rocket, 4 Cotswold Flash (m), 5 Frido (w), 6 Target Brett (w).

Going for Gold On Monday

It's a stunning card at Monmore tomorrow afternoon with four top class competitions taking place. In the Puppies 480 we have Shiners Princess and Barntick Cove. In the 630 we have Head Iton Jason, Fatboyz Slim, Skyine Amber and Head Iton Woodie. The 416 sees the return of Fifis Rocket who will be joined by  the inform Gforce Direct and Bandicoot Fionn.

The Gold Cup Semi Finals look very tough with 2 qualifing from each race. Semi Final 1 will see Buzz Doc taking on Derby Champion Taylors Sky. Semi Final 2 will see us have 4 of the six runners, Brittons Empire, Ballymac Ace (don't forget to see his views on Twitter), Freds Champs and Fifis Whitesox. Finally in the last Semi Final Bolt Ya Rocket clashes with Southern Dooey.

Good luck to all connections.

Don't forget both Maireads Hawk and Ballymac Park are in the Puppy Classic Semi Final at Nottingham in the evening.

Saturday Night Dancer

Are We Dancers (pictured) added career win number twelve to his CV last night when taking last nights A2 in 28.42. Quickly into stride he led all the way to take the contest by 2 lengths. A very nice performance.

Friday Monmore Double

After a quiet Thursday it was business on normal yesterday. The day started well with us featuring on the front of the Greyhound Section of the Racing Post. At Monmore Scratchcard recorded his first win when taking the A7 in 28.92. The 3 1/2 length win will no doubt result with a rise in grade but this is a nice well bred pup that should win plenty of races for connection. Another young pup who recorded her first win was Goodbye Mary who took the A6 in 28.81.

Derby class sprinter to join team but who will own him ?

Our 'main man' in Ireland has done it again - He has quickly secured a deal and beat a lot of other leading owners and trainers to land a smashing open racer for us at Westview Kennels.

"Drumcove Lad" has been competing in the £25,000 Bar one National Sprint in Dundalk. This competition contained some of the fastest greyhounds in Ireland or the UK. The Likes of "Cracking Man" - £100,000 refused - "Spearhawk" - 28.47 Clonmel - £40,000 refused - "Mozzletoff" - 28.30 Shelbourne Park - Irish oaks 2nd.

Despite being very inexperienced compared to the rest of his all star opponents - "Drumcove Lad" produced some brilliant displays. In Round 2 of the Competition - he showed lightning early pace and came home to win his heat beating "Shoemakers lad" (sold for £25k) In the £25,000 Final only last Sunday - "Drumcove Lad" was drawn in Trap 1 - In trap 2 was "Shoemakers lad" - Trap 4 - "Cracking Man" and Trap 5 was "Yes boss" - voted Irish Sprinter of the year."Drumcove Lad" showed massive early to the corner where he was denied racing room by "Cracking Man" and "Shoemakers lad". Up the home stretch these 3 flying machines battled it out - "Drumcove Lad" had to eventually settle for 3rd behind "Shoemakers lad" and "Cracking Man" in an aeroplane winning  time of 21.10 - Irish sprinter of the year "Yes boss" was back in 5th. He was only beaten 2 lengths by "Cracking Man" - They have refused up to £100,000 for him - "Cracking Man" has 28.05 for the 525 yards and 28.40 Shelbourne park.

Yes -"Drumcove Lad's" form is certainly from the top draw - It is extremely rare that we are able to offer you a recent classic finalist who is very lightly raced.

"Drumcove Lad" - with his early gears is ideal for all the major category one events in the NGRC racing calendar. He has done 21.30 at Dundalk regularly which is serious top class pace.

This lad can be bought ourtight for £10,000 or I'd consider a syndicate. Like all the dogs I post they do tend to sell very quickly so if you are interested please call straight away.

Shuttle on easy list

One of our Kennels stars "Express Shuttle" ,The Blue Riband winner and Midland Puppy Derby Runner Up, is on the easy list at the moment after suffering a set back.

He was sent back to our man in Ireland and has been operated on both his flexi tendons on either wrist. Both flexi tendons have been removed by leading vet Dennis Beary and Shuttle is now recuperating in the heart of Tipperary.

Shuttle should be back with us in two weeks time. Hopefully he can continue to be one of the best open racers in the country and land another category one event for is owners.

Ballymac Park scores in Classic

Ballymac Park made is five category one winners in one day for the kennel when taking Heat 5 of the Puppy Classic at Nottingham. Park showed some nice early to lead all the way to take the contest in 30.30. The four length winning margin will make him one to fear in the Semi Finals. Joining him in the Semi Finals is Maireads Hawk who finished 2nd beaten by 1/2 length after finding trouble on the first bend. I'd be hopeful of turning this form round when Hawk and the winner clash again.

Four Timer in Gold Cup Heats

2011 has been a fantastic year hovever this afternoon created another fantastic few hours at Monmore. The day to remember started with Bolt Ya Rocket taking the opening heat at 8-1 in a time of 28.32. We made it a quickfire double in taking heat two with 5-2 chance Brittons Empire (28.42, Buzz Doc qualified third) before a hat-trick of wins was completed by Fifis Whitesox (4-1) who made the most of a dream run on the outside to land heat three in 28.12.

Amazingly we nearly made it four on the bounce when Southern Dooey sprinted clear in heat four but was eventually reeled-in by Pat Rosney's Ballymac Well who got up to score by half-a-length in 28.33.

However we managed to have the last word when kennel legend Ballymac Ace stormed to an easy victory in heat six clocking a superb 27.93 (Freds Champ third)  and completing a 432-1 four-timer for the kennel. Don't forget to follow Ballymac Ace on Twitter !

Draw for next Monday's semi-finals.
First: 1 Rith Agus Rumble, 2 Mutual Decision, 3 Taylors Sky, 4 Buzz Doc, 5 Longwood Fantasy (m), 6 Destroy The Camp (w)

Second: 1 Brittons Empire, 2 Tonbrie Ji, 3 Highview Shadow, 4 Ballymac Ace, 5 Freds Champ (m), 6 Fifis Whitesox (w)

Third: 1 Ten Large Down, 2 Bolt Ya Rocket, 3 Ballymac Well, 4 Little Sensation, 5 Bright Redcliffe (m), 6 Southern Dooey (w).

Mary and Lady in great heart at Monmore

Head Iton Mary recorded her second win at Monmore last night when taking the A6 in 28.80. This well bred bitch is currently for sale, I'm sure she would give any owner a great deal of fun. Yorkshire Lady added another win to her CV when she took the S2 in great style winning in 38.48.

Classic encounter at Nottingham

Ladbrokes Gold Cup Entries

We have had not less than 11 dogs accepted to run in the Ladbrokes Gold Cup at Monmore on Monday. Given the £10,000 first prize the competition looks to be very tough. The first 3 across the line qualify for the semis on Monday 22nd when 1st and 2nd go through to contest the final on Friday 26th August.

Esteemed Australian vet and Greyhound Star columnist Dr John Kohnke BVSc RDA, will be visiting Monmore on the 22nd to meet trainers and volunteers from the Retired Greyhound Trust in the restaurant bar throughout and after the meeting. Monmore Round Up

Gforce Direct continued his fine run of form when making it three wins in succession at Monmore on Thursday. The 28.53 win by 2 1/2 lengths makes this lad the most inform dog on the card at the moment. To win A3, A2, and A1 in successive runs anywhere is difficult but Monmore is close to impossible. Walkaway Tyson provided us with our second winner of the evening when he took the A3 in 28.74 by a comfortable 1 3/4 lengths. This was Tysons 6th career victory.

Rose score in Brighton Belle

Tullna Rose (pictured) proved be our only winner down at Hove this evening in a highly competive Brighton Belle. Rose led all the way to take Heat 4 in 30.36, which was a super performance. Daughter of Peg snatched a third qualifying in Heat 5 whilst Borna Jessica, Shiners Princess and Fatboyz Diva were all sadly eliminated.

Also today Phil Steed has snapped up the final share of Boherna Bridge. Many thanks and all the very best of luck with him.

Boherna Bridge on his way

Boherna Bridge will be arriving at Westview kennels in the morning. Sadly Boherna Prince won't be as we were beaten to seal the deal. The good news is that I have one remaining share in Bridge @ £2,000. The other three owners that have snapped up a share are regulars Peter Symonds, Brian Gillespie and I'd like to welcome new owner Jon Stabler.

Who wants the last share then ?

Away and sold

Daniel Smelt aka "Clipboard" is the new owner of Ballymac Away. All the very best of luck with her.

Boherna Delight

I've just posted the Boherna pups on our website sale page. I'm looking to syndicate the two pups together for £16,000. Syndicate of 8 @ £2,000 or 4 shares @ £4,000. Please remember some of the big names and category 1 winners sold from the page. Its a good opportunity to have a share of two top class pups.

Ballymac Ace recorded an impressive 15.25 in his sprint work out at Monmore ahead of the Ladbrokes Gold Cup. Other trials to note was Bandicoot Fionn 28.51, Express Shuttle 28.59, Fifis Whitesox 28.28, Millridge Sonic 28.99 and Fred Champ 28.47.

Sky night out at the Don

I'm sending four runners to Wimbedon tomorrow for the under card of the WilliamHill.com Puppy Derby. Buzz Doc goes in the opener at 7.40pm, Fatboyz Slim over 687 metres at 8.00pm, Brittons Empire in the Division A 480 8.50pm and finally Head Iton Jason who enjoyed his small break, 9.10pm.

Amber is charge at the Posh

The long drive to Peterboro on on Saturday was well worth while when Skyline Amber took the Marathon Open Race over the extended 790 metres. She led from traps and took the contest by 1 1/2 lengths in 49.91. We will try and keep aiming her at these types of races however opportunites are limited over these extreme distances.

Ace heading for Ladbrokes Gold Cup

Ballymac Ace will trial tomorrow at Monmore in the trials session. Ace will have a sprint work ahead as he prepares for a tilt at the Ladbrokes Gold Cup.

High Class Puppy Prospect

Like - "Boherna Bridge" - "Boherna Prince" - has been racing at the toughest and slowest track in Ireland - Kilkenny, From the exact same dam lines and Kennels that produced wonder dogs "Barnfield on air" - "Lenson joker" - "Elwick Chris" "Boherna Best" - English Laurels winner - All England Cup winner.

"Boherna Prince" - is a beautiful looking 77lbs Black Pup whelped in FEB 2010. He is by "Head Bound x Hondo on air (28.70 at Thurles)

Last week - this majestic young puppy made a sensational racing debut. Racing against all age greyhounds who had already ran races - he shrugged this handicap aside with an emphatic display of pace and power.
Drawn in four - he showed excellent early pace up and spreadeagled his field to win by 7 lengths in an excellent 29.46

Please note this would be a 28.86 - 28.96 run around the likes of Clonmel or Shelbourne Park & a 28.66 run around the likes of Tralee.

This brilliant pup has 4 entries - 4 wins on his card - He has huge improvement to come due to his age and size
He will easily do a 29.20 run at Kilkenny and better once he gets more schooling and is allowed to develop - due to his age he has had very little schooling and that was only his 3rd 525 in his life.

This young pup can run in puppy opens until Next Feb 2011 -  He is ideal for all the major open puppy competitions in the NGRC Calendar. Both these lads will sell quickly so call me straight away if interested.

Bridge looks the real deal

Our Main man in Ireland who already has supplied us this year with the 2011 Pall Mall Winner - 2011 Midland Flat winner - The Coral Puppy trophy winner - Track record holders etc has just secured 2 hugely talented pups for us at Westview Kennels.

These brilliantly bred pups come from the same kennels that Produced the Legendary "Barnfield on Air" - "Lenson Joker" - "Boherna on Air" - last years Laurels winner "Elwick Chris" .

These Pups have also got the exact same dam lines as the above superstars so they are undeniably classically bred. Not surprising a lot of the leading trainers in the UK & Ireland have also been trying to buy them.

The 1st outstanding pup is "Boherna Bridge"

A Brindle dog 71lbs weight - By the great "Westmead Hawk" x "Princess Pacific" (Sister to "Barnfield on air) This Precocious pup comes from a phenomenal litter - His 2 litter comrades were sold for £38,000. They are called "Longwood Hawk" (Chris Callow) & "Boherna Hawk" - (Martin White). "Boherna hawk" -won in 29.23 at Kilkenny - and "Longwood hawk" - won in 29.30 Kilkenny - This pup (Boherna bridge) actually beat "Boherna hawk" in a trial (On Igb site). (Boherna Blackie) is another outstanding bitch from this line - she won in 29.56 - and 29.60 at Hove - was Fav for the Brighton belle final -injured afterwards.

"Boherna Bridge" in his very 1st race at Thurles ran as 'green as grass' - with little or no schooling he showed tremendous courage and pace to come from behind to win in 29.88 - In this race he actually beat a dog called "Airforce roger"  who has 28.69 at Shelbourne and was sold for £15,000! "Boherna Bridge" - was then switched to Kilkenny for a £2,000 Competition - Owners please note Kilkenny track is rated the slowest running track in Ireland - (please check with anyone) it is rated .60 spots slower than the likes of Tralee - Waterford - & .50 spots slower than Shelbourne or Clonmel - dogs just dont do flying times there.

In his latest run this majestic talent - demonstrated to racegoers his brilliant all round pace. Drawn 4 - he showed good early pace to take the lead from traps and once in front he left his all age opponents trailing behind with his breathtaking gears.Leaving his field way behind he powered home to win by over 6 lengths in a brilliant time of 29.26. (easily fastest time of the night)

Their is a lot more improvement to come in this pup (as he has just had his tonsils out)  he will definitely go near doing a 29.00 run at Kilkenny - which would be a 28.50 run Shelbourne or Clonmel.

To give you a guide on Kilkenny - this years Sussex cup winner ("Longwood days" made his debut there) he won in 29.94 and 30.09 at Kilkenny -he has obviously improved since but he was still .70 spots slower than "Boherna Bridges" time.

The great thing about this pup is that he can win from the front or behind - his breeding and his style of running suggests he will have no problem in staying up to 700 metres

This pup has the whole complete package - sensational breeding - Brilliant all round pace & a fantastic temperament. Please bear in mind the major category one event winners that have come from this dam line including 2 greyhounds of the year.

His  2 litter brothers were sold for £20,000 & £18,000 with the same winning times as this pup - he wont cost anything near them prices because we pride ourselves on getting value for money.

Please call immediately if interested !

Ace rolls back the years

Ballymac Ace's pre race tweets proved correct as he recorded another win in front of the Sky cameras last night.  Outpaced in the first strides of the race he fought back up the inner to take second place coming out of the second bend. He ducked inside the Skywalker Gold approaching the third bend and then stayed on well to win in 28.95. Our other runners ran with a lot of credit without troubling the score sheet. Head Iton Woodie was 5th, Ballymac Park 5th, Bandicoot Fionn 6th and Fatboyz Slim 3rd.

Watch Ballymac Ace win again

Big race winners of 2011

We had a great morning on Saturday when our photographer came up to kennels for a couple of hours. We always have a plan to make the most of the time but there is always to many shots to shoot. We finished we a nice shot of our our five big winners of 2011. (Left to right - Fifis Rocket, Express Shuttle, Head Iton Jason, Maireads Hawk and Brittons Empire). I never underestimate the great dogs the owners send me to train. The other two pictures are of Bandicoot Fionn and our kennel favourite Ballymac Ace. (Make sure you follow him on Twitter @ballymac ace). The photos taken will be used in various disguises over the coming months. I will post a few on our Facebook page. Many thanks to Neil who came along on Saturday as I know he spends many hours edited the photos when he gets back to his base.

Away and gone

Ballymac Away recorded her 9th career victory on Monday when she recorded a massive 9 1/2 win in 28.93. Away escasaped most of the trouble on the first corner which no doubt helped to win by such a massive margin.
