Rare Opportunity

At some time this evening after 8.00pm I will posting a rare opportunity to purchase something very special. To make it fair on all my owners, I haven't phoned any individually so this is only way they have been advertised, so it's on a first come first serve basis. (These pups have been added to the for sale page)

Up & Downs at Trials

Today's trials at Coventry brought bad news as Bawna Boy sadly broke his hock. Bawna Boy was a great dog to train who reached two Category 1 Finals, the Brakes Food Puppy Cup at Nottingham and Ladbrokes Monmore Gold Cup. This brave fella had previously come back from two tendon injuries as a pup. He will now be retired to a luxury sofa. Some good news to take away from the session was Rackethall Hero who clocked 29.43, Hollywood Idol 29.85 and Head iton Luke 17.22. This was Head iton Luke's first look at the track and looks ready made to win a sprint opens. This lad is for sale at just £1,000. I'll hold that price for now but he could well increase in price.

Quiet Days

Two meetings without a winner is very rare for us whilst very tough it is one of those things you have to accept occasionally. Things just didn't click from our first runner last night. All came back in one piece which we have to be grateful of as a couple had rough races.

New photographs have been added to Facility Gallery, Racing Gallery, Current Stars, Future Stars and we have also added a couple of presentation photographs.

Early Strike

The kennel struck early last night when winning the first two races of the meeting at Monmore. First to strike was Scotties Eric who appeared to appreciate the drop back to graded company when showing some superb early pace to win the opening A3 in 28.93 (+30). Bourne Walk then won her 15th career race from 82 starts. After following the early pace leaders round the first two bends she ran on very strong to win the following A3 in 28.79 (+10).

SIte Updates

We have recently updated a number of pages on the site - Welfare, History and Sale are all worth a second look. We are currently working on adding some new photographs for the gallery pages. We would like to do a develop a "Meet the Owners" section on the site, where we inform the readership about you and your dogs. If you would like to feature in this section please give me a call and we will make the necessary arrangements. Just a final reminder to keep checking the sale section of the site. Since we launched the site we have sold high profile dogs including Bawna Elsa, Ceroc Locomotion (ex Head iton Tyler) and Officer Donagh.

Attention for the Officer

Officer Donagh landed the Ladbrokes Spring Festival 264 Final this afternoon when running way with the £1,000 price in 15.45. This lad was up for sale on the website just under a month ago and was purchased by Gary Allsopp (Allsopp Allsopp Dubai Syndicate) of Allsopp & Allsopp . What a fantastic introduction to sport. I hope to be training many more winners for Gary in the future.

Open Race News

Officer Loving the Spring

Officer Donagh took the scalp of Boherduff Monti when taking the Heat 2 of the Ladbrokes 264. He has drawn Trap 5 in the Final. Sadly that was our only dog that reached the Finals on Friday. Up at Nottingham it was a case of near misses. Rackethall Hero putting in a stunning performance to finish second to Farloe Lee. Turur Abit also finished second in the Standard Open whilst Vancouver Dylan suffered plenty of early crowded which prevented him showing his best form in the Guineas Final.

Cabra Fly - Pall Mall Non Runner

Cabra Fly, one of the leading fancies for Tuesday's William Hill Pall Mall final at Oxford, was withdrawn from the big race on this morning after bruising a hip in her kennel.

"She's a fiery bitch, and that well in herself she must have been jumping up and down in her kennel. We found a bruise on her hip, and took her to the vet's. She must have banged the hip some time. She can't run on Tuesday - it's as simple as that."

"She'll be fine in five or six days' time. I feel absolutely wounded. We had plenty of Category One finalists last year, but this was the first time I genuinely thought we had a real, real chance of winning one. She's definitely fast enough to have won it.

"Cabra Fly is too good a bitch to take any chances with. Hopefully, that's all her bad luck out of the way for this year, and we can focus on her long-term target, the Oaks at Wimbledon."

Busy Days

The Open Race scene takes us to Monmore and Nottingham tomorrow. In the Ladbrokes Spring Festival at Monmore Officer Donagh represents in the Sprint, Bourne Breezy and Head iton Paddy in the Stayers, Scotties Eric and Brett Time in the 416 competition. Fingers crossed a couple of the team make the Finals. At Nottingham Rackethall Hero takes on Monmore joint track record holder Farloe Lee. Hero looks a smart prospect for new owners Mick Giles, Paul Wilde and Steve Dingley. Turur Abit takes on the Caffreys Standard whilst we are hoping Vancouver Dylan get a clear run in the Guineas Final.

Fighting Fit

Our Open Race Team will got further boost this week when Droopys Ivanovic (pictured) had two nice gallops and looks to be coming back. Her work has been gradually increasing and she should be ready to trial in the next two weeks. There is encouraging news of Burnpark Champ who has responded well to treatment and fingers crossed could be back soon. Bawna Boy will also back in action as he has recovered from a slight knock that has kept him out of action for a number of weeks.

Hall Green Mothers Day Presents

A very rewarding afternoon at Hall Green as we recorded an Open Race Double. The opening race saw the debut of Hollywood Idol. Idol came away very slowly yet made rapid inroads against much more experienced pups. He ran on strong to take second place, a very promising debut. Rev Counter bounced back to form in the Veterans race when winning in 28.99. This was his first win of 2009 and we are sure he should have a great campaign with veterans. Bourne Cruiser and Nifty Farloe were out of luck to tough races and finished unplaced. The afternoon finished with Centaur Marine (pictured) taking the Division 1 Open in 28.61.

Saturday Night Fever

Our great form continued last night as we recorded a impressive graded treble at Monmore. Ten Yards obliged first when making it two wins from three starts when taking the A4 in 28.81. Tyanas Boy proved his is on top of his game at the moment when winning a tricky A2 in 28.73. We didn't have to wait long to record the final leg of the teble as Bettyville Dove won the very next race, an A3 in 28.94.

Cabra Fly - Pall Mall Video Action

We have justed added the videos of Cabra Fly in Pall Mall action. In the first round she in in Trap 3 and misses the break then shows simply amazing pace to qualify in third. In the Semi Final she is Trap 3 again and finishes 2nd. She came out of the race very well and it's all systems go for Final live on Sky on Tuesday.

Double Time

A tidy double for us this afternoon at Monmore. Blue Fox Nicky won her 17th career when taking the S2 in 38.60. Annasprida Vieri, who is currently for sale, proved her well being when landing the A8 in 28.50.

Pall Mall Bound & Jervis Takes Off

Cabra Fly finished second this evening in the Pall Mall Semi Finals and has qualified for Tuesday nights live Final on Sky Sports. After suffering crowding on the first bend she ran on strong to clinch a place in the Category 1 Final. Cabra Fly has drawn Trap 3 in the Final. Joining Cabra Fly on the supporting card at Oxford there will be Ceroc Locomotion and Bookem Danno. The achievements of Cabra Fly were made all the sweeter as we landed a Monmore treble. Droopys Jervis scorched round when winning the Division 1 Open in 28.24, Nifty Farloe the A1 in 28.90 and Micks Cool who won the A8 in 29.54. Congratulations to Charlie Lister and Ray White who won the Puppy Derby with Bandicoot Tipoki.

Mothers Day

Mothers Day will see the team head to Hall Green for a cracking looking Open Race Card. We have entered Hollywood Idol, Rev Counter, Bourne Cruiser and Centaur Marine.

Caffreys Anyone ?

Vancouver Dylan recorded his third Open race success of 2009 when taking the opening heat of the Caffreys Guineas Trophy at Nottingham last night. Dylan was in front before the winning post first time around and was never heading recording 30.30. He has drawn Trap 3 in next Mondays Final.

Bullseye

Two nice very pleasing winners for the kennels today. First to oblige was the Hawaii 501 syndicate owned Highview Gold (pictured in field). Despite suffering early crowding he ran on very strongly to win in 29.06. We didn't have to wait long to notch the double as Liscahane Mavis (pictured in paddock) proved yet again she is one of the nicest young bitches at the track when recording her second win on the bounce for Wayne Pinnel and Mick Giles in 28.67.

Win 6 for Locomotion

Ceroc Locomotion (ex Head iton Tyler) recorded his 6th win of 2009 when taking the scalp of Horseshoe Ping at Coventry this evening. Rackethall Hero finished a very promising second on debut after suffering crowding in running. Turar Abit was unplaced after receiving a bump in running.

The week ahead will see us head to Nottingham tomorrow with Vancouver Dylan, Tuesday we will be at Sheffield where Head iton Paddy runs in the Queen Mother Memorial Cup , Centaur Marine runs in a standard Open and Recondite in the Stadium 480.

Friday, 13 March 2009

Red Hot Idol

Hollywood Idol recorded 28.51 in a trial at Hall Green this evening. That is a great run for this new pup, I have never had a dog gone round Hall Green so fast first time. Very pleasing. Cabra Fly came out of last nights race very well and it will be systems all go for the Pall Mall second round. On Sunday we head to Coventry with Ceroc Locomotion and Tura Abit.

Ups and Downs

Three graded wins this evening did not make up for disappointment for Droopys Jervis and Bawna Elsa both getting knocked out of the Puppy Derby Semi Finals. Tonight the track record was broken and then equalled highlighting the quality of this years Puppy Derby. Both dogs will have plenty of good days ahead, both came off sound which was good news considering they had rough rides in their respective races. On the graded scene there was wins for Liscahane Mavis (A4 28.69), Officer Donagh (D1 15.23) and Head iton Paddy (S1 37.85)

Cabra Fly made up for a slow start and qualified in third place in the first round of the William Hill Pall Mall at Oxford. She should improve for again for the experience at track and we hope for a good draw next week.

Hollywood Bound Scott

Loyal owner Paul Scott looks to have another nice dog on his hands care of new recruit Hollywood Idol. Idol was bought out of Tralee by Paul and Ted Megaw when winning his novice race in 28.88. He has already recorded 15.40 and 28.70 at Monmore and we are looking for a suitable race for him to make his debut. Paul currently owns Nottingham Guineas bound Vancouver Dylan (recorded 30.57 first look before racing tonight), Ballymac Bound and Head iton Nick. Paul has had some super dogs with us over the years including Clydeview (winner of a number of Open races and made Derby winner Westmead Lord pull out all the stops in the Final of the Greyhound Stud Book Final), Marlow Gamble (multiple winner, beating St.Leger Winner Bubby Totti) and Hammerjack Boy (won Open Races at 4 different tracks). Paul's son Nick also owns Scotties Eric who has won 10 times. Paul's loyal support has been integral to our success over the last three years and we hope to have a long association with him and son Nick.

Pall Mall for Cabra & Marine

Cabra Fly and Centaur Marine have been drawn against each other in the William Hill Pall Mall which starts this Thursday. Cabra Fly recorded an impressive 26.90 and was the fastest of the trial session. Centaur Marine took the scalps of Oaks winner Meenala Amy and Arc Finalist Mistley Colonel in his trial. Sadly given the very high quality Ceroc Locomotion was not accepted.

Seeing through the Mist

Kiverton Mist recorded her 16th career win this afternoon when taking the afternoon A5 in 28.82. Highview Hondo made it a kennel double when taking the A4 in 28.64. It's great to see all the dogs running so well, its just reward from all the work the staff are putting in at the moment.

Turar to Rivals

Turar Abit made a stunning debut for us last night at Coventry as we recorded another Open Race Double. Turar Abit was running against the highly rated Centaur Decree in a very tough Division B Open. Turar Abit was always in contention and kicked off the last bend strong to win in the fastest time of the night, a very pleasing 29.41. Congratulations to Alun Johnson. Bookem Danno is turning himself to Coventry specialist. Last night he recorded his third win on the trot at the track when taking the Stayers race in 39.62. Congratulations to the Wayne Mardle syndicate, this dog is really hitting the bullseye for them. (+20).

Bounding Success

Ballymac Bound (pictured) notched her 8th career win this evening when taking the A2 in 28.71. Tipperary Dalhia had earlier won the A7 in 29.71. We also has three near misses, Bourne Walk (1/2 length A2), Liscahane Mavis (Head A4), Blue Foxy Nicky (1/2 length S2) and Recondite (Neck A1) in the Rob Pomroy Memorial Kennel Sweepstakes Final.

This video shows Head iton Tonge taking the 835 metre track record at Monmore back in June 2007.

Week Ahead

Many thanks to Steve Nash who captured these fantastic photographs of Droopys Jervis and Bawna Elsa from the Puppy Derby last night. Both have come out of the race well and will return for the very tough Semi Finals next Thursday. It was nice to see Peter Meldrum rate Cabra Fly's run at Wimbledon as the third best run in the country this week, the only dogs ahead of Cabra Fly were Fear Zafonic and Ninja Jamie who head the betting for the English Derby. On Sunday we are heading to Coventry with Booken Danno and new recruit Turar Abit. Monday will see the debut of Rackethall Hero at Nottingham.

Double Please

The kennels great form continued this afternoon when we recorded a nice double care of Ten Yards, A5 29.09 winner, and Highview Chief, A7 29.07.

Jervis & Elsa Qualify

Droopys Jervis scorched around Monmore in 28.19 this evening to establish himself as a contender for this years Puppy Derby. He never saw another dog as he lead all the way and in to the Semi Final Draw. This was a stunning debut by this young pup. Joining Jervis in draw is Bawna Elsa who flashed out and looked as she had stole the race only to be run out in the closing strides, finishing third.
Draw for next Thursday’s semi finals: 1st semi final: 1 Lethal Ace 2 Greenwell Cool 3 Centurion Enry 4 Droopys Kez 5 Freedom Emma 6 Magna Venturer.

Swift Tinto

Loyal owner Rob Bayliss has successfully purchased Swift Tinto from the Ian Greaves. Tinto is out of All Magic that has thrown high quality dogs including Blackmagic Guy, Swift Blackfoot, Blonde Zak, Swift Pawnne among others. Ian's record as a breeder is second to none and his high profile successes include Top Savings (pictured), Greenacre Lyn, Smiling Man and Toms the Bet. We have had great wins with dogs off Ian in the past, the best being Swift Blacktom. Good Luck Rob with the new purchase.

Flying Cabra

Steve Nash the photographer of the Racing Post kindly forwarded this photograph of Cabra Fly winning last night at Wimbledon. She was in great order this morning and we will have a look at Open Race Calender where she heads to next.

Cabra Flies on Sky

Cabra Fly showed the whole country her true form tonight live on Sky TV when pinging out the traps to win the Wimbledon Bookmakers Association Stakes in 27.50. I'm very pleased for the connections of the bitch who have been very patient with her.

A Big Welcome

A very warm welcome to owner/breeder Gerald Golledge who has send us some pups out of his super bitch Moscow Sandy. Sandy was an Open Race bitch of the highest quality and reached the Final of the Arc in 2006. Her first litter by Honcho Classic thew 7 dogs that contested Open Races around the country including Blues Wish, winning over 280 races between the litter! The latest litter is by Droopys Vieri and Gerald is very hopeful there are some really nice dogs in the litter. The dogs will be trialling at Monmore in the next 2/3 weeks and will be priced accordingly.

Let's do the Locomotion

The Dave Smith owned Ceroc Locomotion (formerly Head iton Tyler) won the William Hill Poker.com Open Sprint at Nottingham this evening in 18.01. He ran two great bends to record a one length win. Borna Trick ran a stormer and was just caught in the shadow of the line, going down by 3/4 length. Head iton Tongue could only finish 4th in the distance race of the evening.

Kennel Sale

The success of the website has given me other problems which are actually great to have. The phone and the email inbox continues to be busy for us to take on new dogs. For this reason I have four dogs to sell out the kennel at just £250 each. The four dogs are Ballybough Lady, Annasprida Vieri, Great Jess and Highview Chief.

Monmore Puppy Derby Team

Droopys Jervis (pictured with Chris) and Bawna Elsa will represent the kennel this years Monmore Puppy Derby. This years competition looks as tough as ever and no doubt which ever dog lifts the crown will be a dog to follow. I'm very disappointed for the connections for Hollywood Idol, Liscahane Mavis and Hollywood Idol who only made the reserve list for the competition.
