In Heat 1 of the Grand Prix recent festival winner Afewdollarsmore qualified in third place behind the highly rated Droops Xavier who took the race in 39.79. Sidelight finished in the same position in Heat in 40.32 but should come on for the experience.
In the Classic competition Smart Bid tried to capitalise on his recent top form at Monmore. Bid was badly crowded on the second bend but still battled on well to seal a qualifying berth in 27.51.
