Open Race Round Up

We continue to look for as many opportunities as we can for the open race team. On Friday night we recorded a hatrick at the local Perry Barr. Jennas Pony pinged from traps to take the sprint in 16.23. Sids Champ backed us his A2 win at Monmore to take maiden over 480 metres in 28.51. The 3 1/4 length win shows what great heart the dog is in and I can see him winning plenty more races. Goa Girl showed us all how brave she can be as she took the Stayers race in 40.59

Rusheen Major paid for the diesel on the long trip to Sittingbourne on Sunday night when he took a Trial Stake for the Kent Derby. Major had to battle all the way but stormed off the last bend to win by 1 1/2 lengths in 29.27

Judy gets the week going with another win

Galtee Judy made it back to back wins this afternoon when dropping back to four bends to take the days A5 with a promising run. Judy was quickly in front and simply powered round the track to win by a huge 5 1/2 lengths in 28.60. Lets hope she can make it a hartrick next time out.

Let the sun shine

Finally we have had a great week of sunshine at the kennels. Hopefully you guys will be able to get out on Sunday morning and take the dogs out without getting wet. Our blog man has a couple of weeks of leave at this time of year so updates will be posted normally when he gets back home.

The week at Monmore started well when two of of runners recorded wins. Whitehart Wonder recorded her second career win when taking the A8 in 29.25 and Drive on Pal made it back to back wins when taking the A4 in 28.86.

We went without a winner on Thursday however it was nice that Yorkshire Lady received her award for being the tracks Bitch of the Month. Well done to connections !

On Friday it was Whitehart Wonder who delivered the goods again for us as she didn't let the rise to A8 stop her winning again as she took the contest in 29.25. This was then followed up by Borna Line winning the second A8 in 29.28

Saturday nights card was as competitive as always and it was great to head home with three winners on the van. Hard Core Rock got us rolling when he took the opener in convincing fashion, leading all the way, to take the A2 by 4 lengths in 28.00. Shades of Dasya didn't let crowding on the final bend stope her winning her second race when she took the A3 in 28.63. Our final winner of evening came care of Head Iton Woodie who picked up the S1 when staying on with some real class to stamp his authority on the race, winning by four lengths in 38.13.

Turbo Boost!!!

I would like to offer to my web site followers a greyhound which, on his debut Friday night at Galway made an unbelievable start to his career by winning by an amazing 15 lengths.

This October 10 pup showed fantastic all round pace throughout his race and the winning time of 28.66 was the fastest ever debut run in history by an unraced pup around the Galway track.
The 79 lb fawn dog called RUNAWAY TURBO was only 29 spots outside the track record (28.34) held by the great Hillcroft Josie.
Other outstanding greyhounds to make their racing debut around Galway include,
Skywalker Ace (28.75 sold for 50k) winner of the 20k national puppy stake and also Turbos sire the great Broadacres Turbo, winner of over 90k in prize money (28.98 Galway debut).
Our very own Burnpark Champ was bought out of Galway, winning on his debut in 29.45, then 28.84, Champ is the fastest dog i have ever trained at West View Kennels.

Have a look and see with your own eyes this simply majestic running display on www.igb.ie
Make no mistake this dog will be aimed at all the major category one races.

Please call me direct to discuss this wonder pup, he can be syndicated or bought outright.

Romford Gamble Landed

Matt Garnets Doobys Gone West bounced back to winning ways over the weekend with an all the way victory by 1/2 length in 13.71 at Romford. A superb performance.

Rusheen Major (pictured) landed a huge gamble for connections in the 575 metre maiden. Connections were very sweet on his chances and backed him into 4/5 but never really had any concerns as he rose with traps and lead all the way to win by 4 1/2 lengths in 35.65

Magic night at the Green

Whilst I was away at Ascot the team back at kennels produced the dogs in A1 condition to get us among the winners at Monmore.

Marazion Magic got the ball rolling for us when taking the opening A2 in 28.38 by 2 1/4 lengths. Sids Champ took the very next race, another A2, which leading all the way to take the contest by three lengths in 28.26

Bright Sandy made a stunning start to her  Monmore career when see took advantage from her wide trap 5 box to blast away from traps and stayed on sweetly to take the race in 28.33. Such a good time and a 4 1/2 length winning margin mark us down as a bitch to follow.

Day at the races

Just would like to say a big thank you to owner John Stanaway for inviting us to Ascot for a great day out today. Sunshine, gambling, a cheeky beer and good company !

Bolt strikes in gold rush

The well named Newin Bolt stormed off the last two bends to record his second career victory yesterday. The January 2011 puppy showed some real courage to take the A7 contest in 29.22

Beauvais Belle was another one who had a stiff task to fight off yesterdays field. Belle stayed in best to record a 28.77 win in the A6.

The fast improving Shades of Zeta added another race to her growing CV when overcame early crowding to run out a 3/4 length winner in 28.63

Judy proves a point

Galtee Judy recorded her first win over the extended distance of 630 metres at Monmore on Thurday. As soon as the traps rose she was quickly in front rank and simply lead all the way to win in 38.93. The winning margin of three lengths underlines there is more to come with this girl.

Fancy a Flutter

Newinn Flutter lost her maiden tag this afternoon when she took the the A6. Flutter was behind in the early stages but started to pass the opposition turning for home. Flutter caught long time leader Farloe Lynx is the shadow of line by a short head in 28.88

Legend kicks clear at Coventry

Fifis Legend recorded his 4th career victory last night at Coventry when showing some blistering all round pace to take the Division 3 Brandon Standard. In what looked a very competitive race on the card Legend just looked every bit of a top class dog should be winning by 5 1/2 lengths in 29.35

The Final Three

On Saturday at Monmore it was a case of playing the waiting game. Our first winner came three races from the end of the meeting and then followed that up with another two !

Sharp Bullet got us moving when he got the better of Landown Lenny in a ding dong battle in the A2. Bullet staying on well to win by 1/2 length in 28.34

Skyline Amber proved again why she is the tracks leading bitch over 6 bends in graded company when she added another S1 to her CV when she stayed on very strongly to win in 38.09. This was her 17th win of her career.

The very promising puppy Start itup Sweep made it three wins from six races when he took a competitive A2 by 1 3/4 lengths in 28.50. What I did like about this performance was how well he stayed on. I'm sure connections are really the great start this dog has made.

Driving in a Friday winner

The striking Drive on Pal added another win on his record yesterday when he took the A5 in 28.83. Pal over came traffic problems round the first bend and then stayed on sweetly to win by three lengths. With such a comfortable win not doubt Pal will be upped in class next time out.

Peggy turns on the style

Peggys Style (pictured) made it two wins in a week on Thursday when digging deep in Heat 1 of the Ladbrokes 630 to take the contest by a head in 37.79 with Goa Girl back in third. Peggys Style is a very consistent bitch who is rarely out of the first two.

Trainers Championship Update

Hats off to Mark Wallis and his team who are leading us all a merry dance in this years Trainers Championship. You would have to say the title looks its in the bag with such a big lead.

Whilst we have had a quieter year than last we are still 4th and going strong. We have suffered some bad injuries to leading dogs which ended our chances of retaining the title. We have recruited some very nice young dogs and team and I intend to keep pushing on.

I am as always looking for new owners and if you are a regular blog reader and fancy getting involved please call me. Any new owners are very welcome to come and meet us all and tour the kennels.

Wolvertans debut win with Dasya

The Wolvertans Syndicate recorded their maiden with today when Shades of Dasya ran away with the A4 staying on strongly to win in 28.55. I'm very confident with a fair share of luck this girl will give the syndicate plenty of great nights out.

Start itup Sooty recorded his second win when storming clear round the third bend to come home clear by 3 1/4 lengths  in 28.55. Direct Angie is in great heart at the moment and she recorded another win this time in A8 company in 29.03. The last winner to report from today is Agony Aunt who blasted out of traps and led all the way in the A7 winning in 28.96

It's Tiger time again

Kinloch Tiger made it 2 wins out of two after putting in another impressive performance on Saturday when taking the A2 in 28.32. This lads looks to have all the attributes of a top glass dog and we are all hoping he can stay sound and fit.

Shades of Kara made it 2 wins out of 3 when taking the A6 in 28.68. Kara kicked clear round the last two bends to win by 1 1/4 lengths.

Loyal owner James Edwards has suffered a nasty fall whilst working on a roof at work. All the team at Westview would like to wish James all the best and a speedy recovery. See you at the track soon.

New arrivals heading to Westview

I am pleased to announce that we have two promising pups coming to West View Kennels. Express Rover has been purchased by James Edwards and Express Flame by John Nokes. Both pups are bred Hondo Black x Express Mist. Express Mist is of course the dam that produced Blue Riband winner Express Shuttle. Good Luck to both sets of connections and thank you for your continued support.

Peata gets match point

Paidis Peata gave the locals at Monmore a great show this afternoon when coming from last to first to take the S3 today. Slowly away, Peata picked off the opposition one by one to get up in the final stride to win by 1/2 length in 39.66

Lucky 13 for Angie

Double for the team last night as both Sams Dee and Direct Angie (pictured) recorded wins on a super night of racing at Monmore. Angie and Conger Star did battle from the moment the traps rose going head to head round every corner. Angie stayed on bravely to take the A9 contest in 29.53 giving the bitch her 13th career victory.

Same Dee got just reward for his recent consistency when he took the A2 in 28.87. Dee really had to dig deep on the run to the line and just got up by a short head.

Golden Creat Final Trap Draw

Tiger strikes on debut

Peter Symonds and Phil Steed's latest recruit Kinloch Tiger stayed on very sweeting at Monmore last night when winning on debut in the A3. This promising Kinloch Brae x Jeffys Brindle pup looks like a very useful addition to the kennel. Any 28.47 win on debut should always be noted.

Yorkshire Lady recorded her 10th career win last night when she took the S2 by three lengths in 38.43

No luck at Coventry

Sadly our two runners in the Maiden Final at Coventry last night finished 3rd and 4th. Joscar came away slowly from traps whilst Hard Core Rock swept wide round to first two bend to give vital ground away. Both dogs battled well to line and I'm sure both will have plenty more opportunities in the future.
