Ballymac Pups heading to Westview

My visit to Ireland this week has turned out very successful, I have negotiated to bring in some outstandingly bred May 11 pups. These 11 month old pups will be ready to be schooled in 8 weeks and there prolific breeding suggest they will be ideal for the major puppy races in the back end of this year and up to  April of next year.

Lot 1

W/BK Dog, May 11

Westmead Hawk x Ballymac MIr

The Hawk doesn't need any introduction and The dam Ballymac Mir has bred some great dogs including our very own Ballymac Ace, Ballymac Rumble, Ballymac Eugenie and many more.

Lot 2/3

Two brindle dogs, May 11

Ballymac Meave x Ballymac Penske

Ballymac Meave needs no introduction. He is one of the leading sires in Ireland.

Ballymac Penske was one of the best bitches Liam Dowling has ever trained, She is superbly bred and her very first litter have just reached the track. A daughter of Penske, Ballymac Floreck has already done a 28.60 around Shelbourne Park and Ballymac Eske is flying around Peterboro in preparation for the Puppy Derby.

I have been going to the Ballymac kennels for many years now and I have never seen pups as stunning as these. They will be perfect for the major puppy races. The end of this year and the Monmore Puppy Derby for next year.

The reason for me buying these pups so young is purely down to value, as they are at least
a 1/3 of the price now of what they will be in 3/4 months time.

Do not miss out on these lovely pups.

Please phone for prices and as always,  first come first serve basis.

Angie and Blue on song

Direct Angie (pictured) took advantage of a drop to A8 last night when recording her 11th career victory. Angie was quickly away from traps and showed some super pace to win in 29.67 by 6 1/4 lengths. Corrig Blue added another win to her CV when she dug very deep to win a hard fought S2 in 39.46

In Land of the Ballymac

I'm currently in Ireland at Liam Dowlings Ballymac Kennels. Liam has asked me over as he has a couple of special pups to show me. Liams kennels have produced many champion dogs over the last two decades including our own Ballymac Ace. If you fancy getting involved or purchasing one of these nice dogs please call me on my mobile.

Pony stars at Romford

We headed to Romford on Monday and duly returned with a winner care of Jennas Pony. Romford were holding another one of their great competitions. Jennas Pony took with an all the way success in Heat 2 of the Coral on TV Trophy. Pony took the contest by 1 3/4 lengths in 24.02. Brittons Empire just missed out on a place in the Final by a short head after finishing third in Heat 3.

Up at Nottingham Jason Hawk could only finish second in the Maiden Final. Hawk chased Firecracker Jack hard but couldn't quite get on terms, going down in 30.38.

The buzz of a winner

We are now edging towards the lighter nights at Monmore so its a great opportunity to bring all you families upto Monmore.

We were back among the winners last night which was pleasing. Broher Buzz recorded his first win when he took A1 Owners Series Heat with an all the way victory in 28.39. Another dog recording his first win was Lexies Rock who took the opening A7 in 29.10

Now the Trainers Championship is complete we should be able to start targeting a few more competitions.

Betfair Trainers Championship Review

I hope you all enjoyed last nights action from Perry Barr. The support we had trackside was amazing and all the team are very grateful. Once again we held a lead going into the last race and we were caught in the shadow of the line, finally finishing third.

Final standings: 1st Nick Savva 41pts, 2nd Charlie Lister 38, 3rd Chris Allsopp 37, 4th = Seamus Cahill & Dean Childs, 6th Mark Wallis 30.

We managed to record two great winners on the night. Sprinter of the Year Drumcove Lad took the Sprint in 15.95.  Given this was his first run of 2012 I couldn't have been more pleased. He will now head to Shawfield for the sprint competition.

Our loyal supporters didn't have to wait long for their second victory as Smart Bid took the Puppy contest for the Stables Tavern Syndicate. Smart Bid beat the very highly touted Farloe Tango in 28.41.

Finally I like to thank Neil & Dave Yanez for the great photos and Twitter feed throughout the night.

Vedfield Solid Images

With a lack of winners to report I thought I post a few nice photos of Vedfield Solid taken at Monmore by Yan Photography. We have been using Dave Yanez's images more of late as he has been covering the Sky meetings and is now a regular at Monmore. I know he has undertaken some photography shoots for owners producing some fantastic montages which have been very well received. If you ever fancy having some shots done of your dog just drop him a line. (He will be a Perry Barr tomorrow)

It's a Question of Sport Tonight

Drumcove Lad and Steve Masters feature on tonight's Question of Sport on BBC1 10.35pm. He is first live animal to appear on the show since the great Red Rum. Please let me know what you think.

Scotts win creates quite a Flutter

I'd like to congratulate Paul Scott on his victory in last weeks Monmore Puppy Derby. Newinn Rocket gave Paul a real boost after losing both Pots and Pans and Rooney Lad. Rooneys Lad had beaten Newinn Rocket in the weeks leading up to the big competition, makes you realise what a talent this dog was.

Paul was a tremendous owners who supported me with a ling of great dogs and bitches to train. The victory was just reward for what he has put into the sport over the years.

I still have one share left to two of next litter for Newinn Rockets dam Little Flutter. This is a great opportunity to have a share to two great pups from a superstar dam.

Four Top Class Pups to land at Westview

Our main man in Ireland has today secured four top class young pups at Westview Kennels.

He has been involved in Derby winners, Oaks winners, track record holders and numerous Category One event winners. His record is second to none. This deal took over two weeks to complete. Here at the kennels we pride ourselves on trying to buy at value for money prices. Our mans instructions are now to try and spot top open race talent at the very early stages before they get too 'dear' in price. As we all are aware top class dogs are making serious money.

The first two dogs are 2 Jan 2011 whelps  and on the very 1st time in traps, they clocked brilliant times of 17.02 and 17.07 for the 300 yards. These quite simply could be anything.  They are by a Derby producing winning sire and the sire of latest super pup to emerge in Ireland (Ballymac Vic) £70,000 refused. These pups dam has produced top open racers in previous litters including 28.60 winners Waterford, 28.42 open race winner Swindon and a 28.55 winner at Wimbledon in the English Derby. The pups are called  Mays Turbo and Mays Kinloch.

The next pup is called Valentia Tango, who is an unraced pup. Only a Sept 2010 whelp. He is by Kinloch Brae whilst his dam has regularly thrown top open race talent including 29.75 for the 550 yards at Shelbourne and  a 29.90 500m open winner Notts - rated 129 on Data. 28.84 winner Clonmel.  This pup despite very little schooling flew in his latest trial where he clocked a fantastic 28.86 for the 525 yards. He has improved with every run and will easily do a 28.60 in his next few runs. A dog who clocked 28.40 at the same track was recently sold for £17,000 to a leading trainer here in England.

The final pup, Mays Stopgoback, is only a Sept 2010 bitch by Droopys Vieri. She comes from the exact same dam line as such greats as "Like a Shot" - Irish derby winner - "Blackstone gene" - "Catunda Harry" (Irish Laurels winner) Only on Friday, this young bitch showed brilliant pace for one so young to clock a fantastic 28.97.

None of the above young pups will cost anywhere near the 5 figures. Such is our mans negotiations skills he has agreed a fantastic price for all 4 to come to us at Westview kennels. We confidently predict that, on what these 'raw' pups have shown already that they will develop into hugely exciting open race talent.

Please contact me direct to discuss these pups further, as these pups will sell fast at their prices.

No luck in Easter Finals but double landed

Johns Classic cames closest to taking one of the Easter Bunny Finals at Monmore today but was sadly denied in the 630 Final.

Rosmult Plover took the A7 at a huge 8/1. The bitch was quickly away and was never headed, taking the contest in 29.37. The rise in grade to S5 didn't stop Homestead Speck from winning her third race in her last four starts. She stayed on very strongly to win in 39.68

Easter Bunny Competition at Monmore

It's great to lock horns with the other Monmore trainers in a competition format. The new SIS Easter Bunny competitions should be great fun for owners. In the Sprint competition Doobys Gone West was eliminated in Heat 1 whilst Edgars Champ sealed a place in Fridays final as he finished second.

In the 630 competition recent recuit Johns Classic took Heat 1 in a pleasing 39.28 getting up in the shadow of the line and joining him in the Final with be Lough Master who took Heat 2 by storming from last to first to take the contest in 39.00.

Competition dog for Sale - Now !

Well our man in Ireland has been at it again beating off the competition to enable me to offer you another fantastic open race dog.

Murlens Mossy made a brilliant racing debut at Drumbo Park recently. He comes from the same team that produced the likes of "You Mind Me" -16.05 at Sittingbourne (Track record holder, rated 155 on Greyhound Data)

"Murlens Mossy" recorded 17.92 in a trial at Drumbo Park before he raced. Drawn trap , he was backed if defeat was out of the question. Totally Missing his break he soon showed racegoers is undoubted pace as he went past his opponents as if they were standing still. Taking the lead before the 1st bend, he showed outstanding pace as he quickly went 4 lengths clear up the run in. Flying home he won by 7 lengths in a top class time of 18.01. Only for missing his break he would have done a 17.80 run.

Last week, he went to Lifford track to see if he would stay the 480 metres. He certainly didn't dissapoint as he showed fantastic pace to stop the clock in a brilliant time of 28.75 on a trial track.

This dog has the all round pace to win major open races, he comes from a major open class litter as his sister "Express Madrid" clocked 28.71 Shelbourne & 28.83 at Clonmel - £12,000 was refused for her.

Murlens Mossy has the all round pace to compete and win major open races. He was 4-5 months younger he would be making at least £8,000. He is ideal for the likes of the Pall Mall at Oxford & The Sunderland Classic.

I think this lad will be snapped up within hours of going live on the blog so please ring to avoid disappointment.

Greyhound Online Auction.com ready for bid impact

The GOA Syndicate (Greyhound Online Auction.com) will be aiming for a big 2012 with their recent additions. The syndicate have purchased three fantastic prospects Highview Dusty, Colmyaro Rebel and Mays Leprechaun. All will be renamed and run under the GOA banner.

Their website and syndicate are managed by Nick Bestwick. I'd urge you all to have a look at their exciting new website. I'll be posting a number of our dogs on the site. I know Nick is planning to syndicate some of the dogs so you could well be on the rostrum with Nick over the coming months. I'll be adding a link on the blog so you can find it quickly all the time.

Solid performance from home team

Vedfield Solid (pictured) win his first race for his new connections last night when making the most of the step into graded company. Solid make a great start in the A2 race and showed the pace we know he is capable of to win in 28.58

Skyline Mohican made it back to back wins when he won the A6 in 29.19. Big Gud recorded his first win since his switch to Monmore when he blazed a trial from pillar to post to take the A5 in 28.93

Friday, 9 March 2012

Great start for weekend

After a disappointing Thursday it was great to be back with a couple of winners at Monmore. Bawna Major recorded his second win for us when storming to a 6 1/2 length win in 28.99. Our second winner was Head Iton Mags who stunned everyone when taking the S6 in 39.67 at the very rewarding odds of 8/1. I hope a few of you had a bet, if so your crystal ball is clearly working.

Sids Arc Dream End in Final

We had to return back to kennels last night disappointed. Sids Dream fluffed his lines in the Ladbrokes Arc Final and simply couldn't get get back on terms in such a strong race. The best of the rest of our runners was Boherna Bridge who was nailed on the line and Jasons Hawk who also finished second in the opener.

Back at Monmore our remaining Puppy Derby were sadly eliminated however Newinn Diva took the closing A4 in 29.02

Big week ahead for team

It will be another busy week for kennel in the days ahead. Following tonights meeting at Nottingham we will be heading to Perry Barr tomorrow as the the team for the Trainers Championship will have their second workout around the Birmingham circuit. On Thursday we have two runners in the Puppy Derby Semi Finals at Monmore whilst Swindon host the Arc Final in which we will be represented by Sids Dream. Also appearing on the evening is Jasons Hawk, Boherna Bridge and Peggs Style. Good Luck to all connections.

Monday Monmore Double

Two winners for us this afternoon at Monmore. Cerrise followed up her promising debut with a smooth success in todays A3. She was quickly away from traps before showing some superb back straight pace before staying on to win by 4 1/2 lengths in 28.59. Daleroad Canter recorded his 5th win for us when he took the final race of the day, an A4, in 28.93

Sunday, 4 March 2012

Peg reminds us who is Number 1

Queen of the kennel, Daughter of Peg, won her 22nd race last night when she ran out an impressive 2 1/4 length winner of the A1 in 28.41. I think her asking price of £2,500 is very reasonable and will include a free mating to Ballymac Ace. The priced is based her staying in the kennel.

Edgars Champ took advantage of a drop in grade to take the A5 in 29.07 whilst Skyline Mohican gave her owners some great fun when coming from last to first to take the A7 in 29.54

Top class pups for sale - Schooling

I've secured today two very nice pups that will be joining us when there schooling is complete. There is one dog and one bitch out of Hondo Black x Little Flutter. Little Flutter is a proven dam and threw Slick Santiago and Thursday nights Monmore Puppy Derby Heat winner Newin Rocket. These pups were only born in January 2011 and could be anything. The first time at the track at Clonmel the dog recorded 16.70 and the bitch 16.90. They are priced at £6,000 for the pair.

A Touch of Frost for Sale

I'm pleased to offer you for sale What a Frost who is an Shelbourne Park winner in 28.91.

This November 2009 dog by Westmead Hawk x Boin Dee only has nice races on his card and I'm sure he could be a great addition to the kennel. I'm very confident on him stepping up well to six bends and will give any new owners a great deal of fun with his running style.

This lad is priced at £3,000 and is available to seen at the kennels or call me to avoid disappointment.

GBGB to meet GOBATA over prize-money

I'm very pleased to hear the GBGB have agreed to meet Martin White from GOBATA to discuss the possibility of more prize-money coming into the sport. Martin has tried for two years to meet with GOBATA without success. It took a very brave stance from some trainers to all stick together and threaten a strike action.

We all put our jobs at risk to help trainers up and down the country. Hopefully in the meeting the GBGB will listen to our cries of help and take notice how bad things are in the sport. Trainers are going bankrupt every day, can't afford to feed their dogs and themselves properly. Owners are walking away from our great sport duck to the lack of prize-money in open and graded racing.

I would just hope something comes out of the discussions and I would like to thank my fellow trainers who stood firm under the immense pressure. We have all learnt from the experience and stance and it has shown the true colours of certain people you can trust. Unfortunately there are certain trainers and media representatives who only think about themselves.

Sids keeps Arc Dream Alive at Swindon

Sids Dream followed up his track record run a week earlier with another impressive success in the second Semi-Final of the Ladbrokes Mobile Arc over 480 metres at Swindon this afternoon.
Dream made another rapid start from trap six and quickly settled the issue although Droopys Loner chased hard for a long way before Ballymac Cryan came through to claim second on the line. Sids Dream posted 28.22 just two spots outside his record.
The draw for Thursday's live on Sky Sports £8,000 final is :-
 1 King Jaffa, 2 Ballymac Cryan, 3Jazz Apollo, 4 Droopys Loner, 5 Sids Dream (w), 6 Mays Gold (w).
