Captain Collins joins Team Allsopp

I'd like a record a warm welcome to new owner Carl Collins to the team. Carl has purchased Andrees Diamond (pictured)  and Droopys Malouda. I'm sure both dogs will give him plenty of great nights out with us all.

Ace puts us in the Dollars as 6 land the odds

To get six winners on any night is an achievement but to land six on such a competitive nights racing is a credit to the dogs and all the team. Ballymac Celia was the first the land the odds when she took the Division 2 416 in 24.92. Derrynaflan Dude made it three wins on the bounce when he took the Division 1 416 in a very smart 24.35. The fast improving Fatboyz Secret made it three wins on the bounce for us on the night when she took the A6 in 29.53, there is plenty more races to win with this bitch. Ballymac Ace lead all the way when he look Division 1 480 in a rapid 28.29, this dog has some engine ! We managed to takes both divisions of the 630, Glenagower Champ took Division 2 in 38.14 and Ten Dollars More the Division 1 in 38.32.

Bull stars in Romford Final

Ballyneale Bull (pictured) registered a stunning display on Friday night when taking the Coral TV Maiden Final over 400 metres. Bull took his second race from three starts when some blistering early pace and took the race in 24.25. Daughter of Peg proved again why she is difficult to beat at Romford with a top class performance in the Puppy race. She ran away with the contest to record a 24.29 win. On the undercard Droopys Edgar was 6th, Fatboyz Romeo 4th , Droopys Tajmahal 3rd, Ballymac Rumble 3rd and Swift Tinto 3rd.

Graded round up

Two tough days for us at Monmore. Ballymac Cat made it two wins on the bounce when taking last nights A5 in convincing fashion in 29.70. He looked to stay the trip very well and will take many more races. Ballymac Annette (pictured) was our only winner today when she recorded her maiden win when taking the A9 in 30.06.There will no be any updates over the weekend however normal service will be resumed on Monday.

Bull impresses at Romford

Phil Stead's Ballyneale Bull impressed on his open race competition debut tonight when he showed some blinding pace to take Heat 1 of the Coral on TV Maiden Trophy in 24.13. This lad has some serious pace to burn and I'm sure he will win many races. Fingers crossed we get a good draw for next weeks final.

Instant Return for Johnson

Alun and Tanya Johnson got an instant return when their new purchase Lollipops Ball took this afternoons A5 in a hard fought style in 29.54. This lad will win plenty of races. Ballymac Sive continues to be in fine form and she ran away with the A3 by four lengths in 28.70. Radnor Blue has now won three of her last four races after taking the afternoons S2 in 38.45.

Blackthorn pup reports

Nigel Blackthorns litter of pups out of former bitch Blackthorn are looking very good in Ireland. Blackthorn was a super bitch which won no less than 15 races in her career. If the pups have the same heart as her they will win many races. They should be on the way over to join us very soon.

A lickin good deal for Johnson

New owners Alun and Tanya Johnson were licking their lips last night as they were looking forward to their new purchase Lollipops Ball winning his first race for them. Good luck with him and lets hope he wins plenty of good races.

We have Pony Daisy, Droopys Edgar, Ten Dollars More and Sandy Legend representing us at Nottingham whilst Ballyneale Bull will take his chance in a Maiden competition at Romford over 400 metres.

Jessica leads foursome

A stunning night for the kennel at Monmore last night. Borna Jessica got the ball rolling in the very first race when she strode to a 28.67 success when taking the Division 1 Open race. Derrynaflan Dude made it two wins from two starts when taking the Division 2 contest in 28.75. He looks to be a great recruit to the kennel. Selecta Earl then took the Division 3 race when flying round in 28.45. Fatboyz Murty clearly enjoyed the drop back to graded company as he took a tough looking A1 in 28.99.

There was another A6 on the card which was duly won by Ballymac Lucy who took the race in 29.28. Townhill Widtink stunned us all when making a remarkable return to the track as he took the A1 in 28.67. This was the dogs first race since May !

Rev Counter to stand at Stud

Our former Eclipse winner Rev Counter has mated his first bitch as he started his new career as a stud dog. Rev mated Monmore bitch of the year Raynes Park. Rev Counter who won 24 races in his career against the best in the country will be standing at our kennels and if anyone is interested in using him and please contact me on the normal number.

Cabra Fly and pups in great heart

Former kennel hand and now Irish based trainer Racheal Wheeler phoned in a up beat report of Cabra Fly's litter in Ireland. Fly was mated to Westmead Joe and has a superb looking litter of 3 dogs and 3 bitches. All are growing really well and they look fantastic. The litter are now 7 months old, before we know it they will be off schooling and then racing.

Busy day but no winners

No winners to report from Monday's racing sadly. Sandly Legend came closest to hitting the target when he finished second at Nottingham last night. He went down by just a length in 28.89. We was as busy as always looking after the dogs, taking a few new photos for the website and making entries for Belle Vue on Thursday. I'm also pleased to report "owners favourite" Matty Webb started back with us yesterday.

Battered and bruised

Just to let all our bloggers know that Ballymac Ace did not suffer any serious long term injuries when falling in the Final at Oxford on Saturday. He is however battered and bruised. We will let him recover in his own time. He has never been a great fan of the cold weather and most of the competitions for the rest of the year are strong staying races which in a way will decide future plans.

Hey Dude !

The Neil Britton owned Derrynaflan Dude (pictured) made a stunning debut on Saturday when he took the Ladbrokes.com 480 Novice. Quickly away from traps he took account of the hotly fancied Ballymac Jackon in 28.86. This concept of race is great for us trainers and connections and the Monmore Racing Office should be applauded. Our first winner on the card was Stop and Pop who recorded her second career victory when taking the A5 in 29.40. Ballyneale Bull caught the eye on his debut, mark my words he will step up even more on this in the next few weeks. Glenagower Champon the massive upgrade and he proved this when putting in a stunning run to take the S1 by 6 1/2 lengths in 38.33. Our final winner to round up a good night came care of Ballymac Away who took the closing A5 in 29.67.

Up and down at Oxford

It was a mixed night for us last night across the cards of Monmore and Oxford. At Oxford Ballymac Rumble was an impressive two length winner of the Windmill Road Trophy over 595 metres in 36.58. Daughter of Peg's decisive early pace decided the Puppy race as she won by three and three quarter lengths in 27.05. We did suffer disappointment in the Blanchford Gold Cup Final when Ballymac Ace fell when crowded and Droopys Tajmahal finished third. We will post an update on Ace tomorrow.

My name is Earl

Selecta Earl put in a impressive run last night when he ran out a 2/4 length winner of the A1 in 28.97. Despite running well after coming back from injury this was his first success since June. Lets hope he goes on to win many more races as he deserves.

New Photos

There are some great new shots in the gallery "On the Track" taken by Steve Nash. I will be updating the sale page today when I get a gap in the schedule. Highlights include a middle grader that will make open class ! (Droopys Edgar pictured)

Murty is the man

Fatboyz Murty (pictured) won for us last night when he took the Maiden 480 at Nottingham in 29.23. In the Maiden Trophy Final over 500 metres Sandy Legend ran a stormer to finish second behind Slick Boy whilst Pony Daisy finished in 5th.

Flowering Petal

Galtee Petal (pictured) led us to an impressive four timer at Monmore this afternoon. Petal who was winning her 5th career race led from start to finish to record 29.09 when taking the A5. Psychotic Silver made the most of a drop in grade to A3 when recording a 29.07. Ballymac Hilary recorded yet another win when producing a gutsy effort when she took the A7 in 29.44. Our final winner of the afternoon was Fatboyz Secret won first maiden race which was the A9 in 29.16.

Golden double at Oxford

Any open race is great but I was really pleased that both Ballymac Ace and Droopys Tajmahal both won their heats of the Blanchford Gold Cup at Oxford last night. Ace took his heat in 26.48 whilst Tajmahal won his in 27.02. Winners are tough to get at the moment at Monmore. Bookem Lass proved to be our only winner at Monmore when she took the Division 1 630 open in 38.34. Ten Dollars More was sadly eliminated from the St Leger at Wimbledon when he finished 5th in Heat 8. Our runners at Hall Green were unplaced.

Rumble at Romford

Ballymac Rumble (pictured) put in a stunning performance last night at Romford when taking the Romforddogs.com Stayers overs 575 metres. Rumble showed excellent middle pace to record 36.12. In the two supporting open races Daughter of Peg was third and Miss Everdean was second. We had to wait to the second from last race at Monmore yesterday to record our only winner on the graded card. Direct Angie recorded her third career win when taking the A6 in 29.31.

Thursday graded

Radnor Blue proved to be our only winner on Thursday nights graded card. Radnor Blue recorded his first victory since joining us when taking the handicap over 630 metres in 39.11.

Heading in all directions

This weekend we have runners all round the country. Friday it will be graded at Monmore and then Romford in the evening with Ballymac Rumble, Daughter of Peg and Miss Everdean. Saturday will see the team head in all different directions as we have runners at four different tracks. Monmore will see us run Ballymac Celia, Fatboyz Romeo, Bookem Lass and Swift Tinto. The Blanchford Gold Cup starts at Oxford and we have entered Ballymac Ace and Droopys Tajmahal. Droopys Edgar and Glenagower Champ will represent us at Hall Green. Finally we will be hoping Ten Dollars More can ping from traps in a difficult looking heat of the St Ledger at Wimbledon.

RIP Rapid Ranger

We don't generally report general greyhound news on the blog however we did think the readers would be interested to know that Rapid Ranger the dual Derby winner passed away after suffering a stroke this week. He was a truly magnificent greyhound  who also reached the Scottish and Irish Derby Finals. Off the track he was very much in charge and didn't like any other dogs. A wonderful dog.........R.I.P Ranger

Monday round up

Ballymac Lucy (pictured), currently for sale, was our only winner on Monmore graded card yesterday. The 29.05 win by 2 3/4 lengths was the pups third win and I'm pretty sure she will continue to creep up the grades. Up at Nottingham Sandy Legend qualified for the Maiden Final when finishing second in Heat 2 in 30.44. Hollywood Idol was 4th in the standard open.

Monday, 4 October 2010

Open race check

We will have runners tonight at Nottingham and also tomorrow on Skys TV card from Belle Vue. Tonight will see Sandy Legend and Pony Daisy in a 500 metre Maiden competition whilst Hollywood Idol contests the 500 metre standard open. Tomorrow Swift Tinto will be our TV representative when taking in a competitive race over 470 metres.

Gallery Update

We have been updating the galleries over recent weeks. We have that many photos on file it's difficult to ensure we included every dog we have a picture of. We do still have a few to go on however if you see your particular dog has been excluded by mistake please drop me a mail and we will have a look to see if we can add him or her.

Bookem a winner

Bookem Lass (Garrons Lass) made a pleasing debut for new connections when taking last nights Divsion 2 Open in 38.32. This was her 6th win since joining us and I do expect her to win many more. Ballymac Rumbles attempt to win the Peter Chinn Memorial ended care of serious traffic problems all through the race, very frustrating second place.

Saturday, 2 October 2010

It's Hilary again

It's 3 wins from 5 starts for Ballymac Hilary after impressing again yesterday as she took the A8 in 29.65 by 1/2 length. Remember this bitch is still for sale and I'd urge anyone to meet her at kennels on Sunday. Our other winner came care of Ballymac Sive who ended a run of unplaced efforts when winning the A4 in 29.28.

Greyhound Girls

I'd urge all our bloggers to check out the new Greyhound Girls website. A real effort has been made by the girls and the supporting team to produce a great calender for 2011 that would be a great Christmas present which will in turn support the wonderful cause of the Retired Greyhound Trust. Get placing those orders now !

Matty heading home

After five months away from the sport top kennel hand Matthew Webb will be rejoining us in a few weeks time on a full time basis. Matty is a hard grafter and goes out of his way in helping the owners. We are all looking forward to having him back on board.

Draw proves costly

A frustrating night for us at Belle Vue with both Fatboyz Romeo and Ballymac Ace being eliminated from the Laurels. Well gutted but that's racing. It will be a case of dusting ourselves down and get among the winners at Monmore tomorrow. Back at Monmore it was nice to see pup for sale Report Clear win his first race in 30.39 (A10).
