In the first round of the Champion Stakes Ballymac Rumble suffered serious traffic in running when finishing third whilst Swift Tinto finished 2nd in heat 6.

4 on the bounce for Murty

Fatboyz Murty (pictured) made it 4 wins from 4 starts at Monmore last night. I can't remember any dog starting his career in such a magnificent way. Last night contest was again in A1, he was quick away to win in 28.47. We also has wins from Galtee Petal who took the A6 in 29.04 and Gforce Direct the A4 in 28.61.

Dancers will replace the recently retired Bosscroker who was a super dog. Bosscroker (pictured) only ever contested Open races or A1's. He always tried his best in ever race and lets hope Are We Dancers gives his connections are much fun.

Winners & Updates

Two winners for us at Monmore last night. Galtee Petal won her third career race when last last nights A6 in 28.91 by 2 lengths. Ballymac Celia impressed again when winning a tricky looking A2 in 28.37. Celia started in A6 and has risen through the grades. She is a typical Ballymac bitch that just need a bit of time. I have just been sent three new bitches that could be of the same class or even better. I will be adding these bitches to the sale page this week. A large number of posts were made on the blog yesterday so please use the menu on the right hand side to ensure you have not missed anything. Please remember we have the busiest trainers website in the county and we add more updates than any other site. The site gives all our loyal owners some regular contact with the kennel happenings but the updates will never be daily so I'm sure you would rather have 3/4 updates a week than not at all. The blog now has a RSS feed which gives us the Racing Post Greyhound headlines. Our Facebook page is getting very busy, if you haven't already check it out, it has videos and loads of the latest photographs.

Great Greyhound Gathering

Nottingham Racecourse has again invited the Retired Greyhound Trust to hold the Great Greyhound Gathering there on Saturday 18th September.

This will be the fourth year of the event, and 2009 was such a success: they estimated around 3,000 people and an incredible 800 dogs attended last year, travelling from all around the country.

Plans are well under way to ensure another memorable day on 18th September, and we hope you will be able to join them. There will be something there for every member of the family (and especially our four legged friends) to enjoy, with the RGT Village, trade stands, lunchtime entertainment, and of course our ever popular dog show.

See below for the dog show schedule. You will see we have special classes again this year to determine the 'Black Retired Greyhound of the Year' as well as the RGT Retired Greyhound of the Year.

Thet are honoured to have Crufts' judges along again this year .

Daisy sets tongues wagging

Pony Daisy (pictured)who was sold off our website recorded a rapid 15.26 on her first look at Monmore this week. Daisy who is a full sister of Pony Sheila who won on Sky looks to be a promising recruit for new owners Symonds, Giles, Maguire and Britton.

Bliss retires

Centaur Bliss has left us for a happy retirement. Bliss won 15 of her 62 races and went through the grades from A8 to contest open races. Bliss was a pleasure to train and she will be missed by us all.

Injury Update

Officer Donagh will sadly be off the track for three months after suffering from a strained hip. Joining him in the physio room will be Sky marathon winner Pony Shiela who has a slight fracture in a hock and will be off the track for 8 to 12 weeks.

Ted's Wave

Loyal owner Ted Megaw has secured another super puppy called Ballymac Wave (pictured). Wave is a May 2009 puppy who is bred Ballymac Kewell x Ballymac Kiowa. Good luck Ted with your new purchase.

Festival Round Up

Our hope of bringing home the Ladbrokes Gold Cup at Monmore yesterday were ended by the first corner. Hollywood Idol missed the early kick from traps whilst Ballymac Ace came out of the first corner with no chance. Ten Dollars More missed his break in the 630 Final and had to settle for a brave third place. Despite being the outsider of the field, Ballymac Dolores ran a super race to finish third in the 416 Final.

The above photographs were taken by Steve Nash during Mondays heats.
Top Left - Ballymac Dolores
Top Right - Ten Dollars More
Bottom Left - Andrees Diamond
Bottom Right - Borna Jessica

Festival Success for Romeo

Fatboyz Romeo recorded his first Final success yesterday at Monmore as he took the Ladbrokes August Festival 480 Puppy Final. All credit to his owner Anthony Cameron who has been very patient with the two dogs he bought known then as Direct Dan and Direct Bob. Bob is now in Ireland with Racheal Wheeler whilst Romeo (ex Dan) was only having his second run since being injured. The son of Westmead Hawk pinged from traps and never saw another dog in the contest as he took the £1,000 prize in 28.52. Borna Jessica finished a honorable third was Andrees Diamond was 5th. Anthony also owns Fatboyz Diva who reached the Gand Prix Final at Sunderland and Fatboyz Murty who has won his first three races.

Rumble Denied

Ballymac Rumble (pictured) was denied in the Final of the Coral on TV Stayters Trophy at Romford. Rumble slightly missed his break forcing him to be checked on the first bend. He challenged throughout the race but he had to settle for second place behind Borna Payment. I'm sure his day will come in a Final.

Coming Open Racing ?

How do you fancy joining our open race team. If you do I have a dog perfect for the job. His name is Ballyneale Bull ( Premier County x Rhincrew Zara). This November 2007 dog is blessed with great early pace. A winner at Shelbourne Park on Saturday over 550 yards in 30.01. Just check out his sectional time of 3.42. This dog has been running in the highest company and also reached the Semi Final of the 21,000 euro Cox Cup at Newbridge. This lad is priced at £3,000, I would love to get this dog in the kennel. Please call if interested.

Champ on song

Glenagower Champ made it back to back wins when taking the Hall Green Division 1 Stayers on Tuesday over 645 metres in 39.81. Best of our other runners was Droopys Edgar who finished second in the Standard Division 1.

Bolt in Classic action

Mahogony Bolt is representing us in the Puppy Classic at Nottingham. Despite his lack of experience he ran a stormer on Monday to finish third after revieving a serious bump around the first bend. He stuck to his task well and qualified for next weeks Semi Final.

Rumble at Romford

Paul Scott's Ballymac Rumble was back to his sizzling best at Romford when taking Heat 2 of the Coral on TV Stayers Trophy when running out a 1 1/2 length winner in 35.61. The trap 1 draw in Fridays Final should suit.

Ladbrokes Summer Festival Final Draws

Here are the draws for Fridays Finals at Monmore. In the Gold Cup, Idol looks to have a difficult task from that wide but I'm pretty happy with trap 3 for Ace.

3.58 - Ladbrokes August Festival Puppy 480 final: 1 Lookoutforjethro, 2 Andrees Diamond, 3 Fatboyz Romeo (pictured), 4 Little Cash, 5 Droopys Luisao (m), 6 Borna Jessica (m).
4.18- Ladbrokes August Festival 630 final: 1 Crown Rover, 2 Lorrys Options, 3 Razzmatazz, 4 Anfi Gem, 5 Bodell Clare, 6 Ten Dollars More (m).

Gold Medals ?

Mondays Gold Cup Festival of racing on Monday proved to be as competitive as always. In the Ladbrokes Puppy 480 Andrees Diamond finished second ahead of kennel mate Lively Mondays to make Finals day. Joining Diamond in the Final will be Fatboyz Romeo who finished second in heat 2, this was Romeo's first run for 4 months, so it was a fantastic effort. Making it a hatrick of runners in the Final is Borna Jessica who took the final heat in an impressive 28.40.
In the Ladbrokes August Festival 630 Ten Dollars More proved local knowledge is best as he beat the highly touted Crown Rover in 37.87. He he comes away from traps well in Fridays Final he could have a great chance.
In the 416 competition Ballymac Dolores got rewarded for her consistency when she finished second to make her first Final appearance.
Finally in the Ladbrokes Gold Cup both our contenders finished second both qualifying for Fridays Final. The ultra consistent Hollywood Idol finished second to Bucks Honcho who was the fastest winner in 28.17. Pall Mall winner Ballymac Ace chased home Blue Artisan in the 2nd Semi Final, stealing a lead after the early crowding but was over powered at halfway.

Sticking your neck out

Bosscroker proved to be our only winner at Swindon on Saturday after Officer Donagh and Killough Quinn could only be placed in their respective races. Bosscroker dug very deep to hold on by a short head to record a deserved open race win over 509 metres in 30.36.

Murtys the Man

Fatboyz Murty proved his debut win was no fluke when stepping up in grade to win a very tough A2 by 2 3/4 lengths in 29.07 (-10). A run in open race company beckons for this son of Royal Impact. Ballymac Sive landed the very next race on the card when taking the A3 in 28.98.

Heading to Swindon

Our open race team will head to Swindon this evening looking to record us some more wins. Officer Donagh looks to have a strong chance in the sprint as he looks for his 37th career win. Bosscroker will need to have his trapping boots on to feature in the open over 509 metres whilst I fancy Killough Quinn to take the final open on the card.

Everdean Strikes

Miss Everdean recorded her third career victory this afternoon when taking a trappy looking A5 in 29.38. She stole a quick lead on the run to the corner and was never headed.

Towel Appeal

Calling all owners ! We are desperate for any unwanted towels at the kennels to use on the dogs. It's not something you can go and buy second hand so any towels would be most welcome. Many thanks in advance.

Team performance at Hall Green

A super night for the kennel runners at Hall Green with two winners and two second places. The ultra consistent Officer Donagh kicked off with evening with a 2 1/2 length win in the Sprint, 15.52. Lively Mondays then took the very next race which was a Puppy Open in 28.81. Also on the card Swift Tinto ran a stormer to finish second in the Maiden Stayers in 40.16, whilst Garrons Lass caught the eye when chasing home the smart Jomi Style in 40.34.

Bolting in.....

Mahogany Bolt looked like a dog to follow on Monday evening at Nottingham when running out an impressive 3 length winner in 30.47. This was just his second race since joining us, I'm confident he will win many opens over the extended distance.

A6 to Open Race Winner

Ballymac Celia (pictured) completed her rise from A6 grader to open race winner when she took last nights Ladbrokes.com 416 in 24.96. She has now won 6 for her 10 career starts and five from the last six ! Another dog on the upgrade is Lively Mondays. Lively took the second open race over the same distance in 24.60.

Tinto takes Final Prize

Swift Tinto took this evenings £1,000 Coral Maiden Final at Romford. It was a stunning display by Hondo Black as he strolled to a convincing eight length win in 35.96. Tinto has been a model of consistency throughout his career and I'm overjoyed for the connections.

Friday Hatrick

A hatrick of winners for us this afternoon at Monmore. Ballymac Master made the most of his early pace when taking the A6 in 29.37. Borna Jessica has risen to A1 from A4 since joining us and today she took a very competitive A1 in 28.61. Another bitch flying through the grades is Psychotic Silver who made it four wins from five starts when taking the A6 in 29.23.

Murty Debut

Fatboyz Murty made a super debut last night in an A3 last night. Considering Murty had previously won the Future Champion Unraced Stake in Ireland he went off a generous 5/2 for his first race. Quickly away from traps he simply led all the way to win in 29.33.

Thursday, 5 August 2010

Gold Cup Team

Our Ladbrokes Gold Cup team will be ready and set to give their best as we try and win the biggest competition at our home track of Monmore. Of course all eyes will be on Ballymac Ace after his eye catching year but I hoping for a big show from all our entries. The entries are as follows - Heat 2 Hollywood Idol, Heat 3 Bosscroker, Ballymac Ace & Killough Quinn, Heat 6 Droopys Edgar.

Wheelers Wonder

I thought I'd let you all know former kennel hand Racheal Wheeler trained Inshaarla to 2nd place in the Final of the Southern Oaks at Youghal. Congratulations to all. Racheal has a wealth of experience and will be training many winners.
