Derby Round 1 - Thursday

Bosscroker made it through in heat 5 as the English Derby kick started at Wimbledon. He had disputed the lead from half way before before being caught in the shadow of the line. To finish second was a great run. Bandicoot Tipoki looked very impressive in a 28.55 win. Fingers crossed for Eye of the Storm who looked to have suffered a nasty injury when looking sure to qualify.

Going Going Gone

Gary Thompson and friends have purchased Kentori Girl whilst Will Adamson has purchased Bawna Gayle. Good Luck and many thanks to the new connection.

Bounding on

Ballymac Bound ended a winless run of ten races when taking this afternoons A4 by 3 3/4 lengths. Sadly no times are available for the Monmore races at the moment.

LuLu Strikes

Dromana Lulu (pictured) put a couple of poor runs behind her when storming to a 2 length win in last nights A6 in 29.14. Spruce Storm took the A1 in 28.81.

Edgar Strikes Gold

Droopys Edgar took this evenings Abbey Stadium 509er Final at Swindon this evening. Quickly away from traps he simply hugged the rail and showed cracking pace to win by a stunning 5 3/4 lengths in 29.92. Highview Rocket stayed on well to finish third.

No luck

No luck at either Nottingham or Sheffield with the open runners. Officer Donagh was 4th in the Northern Sprint Final. We can't seem to get his front this year, hopefully a win is around the next corner. Fabulous Voyage ran a brave race to finish 4th in the Grand Prix Final at Nottingham getting beat by a very smart bitch called Beautiful City.

Outsiders roll in

Four winners for us this afternoon, none of them featuring among the favourites. First to oblige was Ballymac Siobhan won the A8 in 28.99 at 4/1 showing some great early pace. Bawna Gayle (currently for sale) went round in 28.58 when taking the A4. Ballymac Celia took the very next race, another A4, in 28.76. Our final winner was Dadleys Storm who is still improving and took a tricky looking S3 in 38.59 at a juicy 8/1. I hope the regular followers of the dogs had a few doubles and trebles.

Busy week ahead

We will be busy on road this week as we kick out the 2010 Derby campaign. Monday night we will be at Nottingham where Fabulous Voyage contests the Grand Prix Final whilst Broad World runs in a supporting open race. I'm hoping Officer Donagh can ping from traps in the Northern Sprint Final at Sheffield on Tuesday. Bosscroker has been drawn in heat 5 of the Derby so will run on Thursday night. Friday it be the turn of Ballymac Rumble, heat 16, and Ballymac Ace, heat 23.

Jig Retires

Little Jig has retired to the breeding paddocks following picking up a minor injury this week. Jig has had an amazing career winning 18 of her 61 races, winning at 5 different tracks, track record at Swindon and also taking the Pride of the West title and the Warwickshire Oaks in 2009. Hopefully her pups will be as quick and gutsy as her. She has been a pleasure to train.

Sheila Stars

Pony Shiela (pictured) made it three wins from just four starts when taking Ladbrokes.com Bitches 630 last night at Monmore. Last nights performance was similar to her running style in Ireland, slowing start and storming home in 38.22. There were also winning performances from Synone Billy (A3) 28.38 and Borna Jessica (A3) 28.55.

Saturday, 24 April 2010

Rocket and Edgar to clash in Final

Highview Rocket and Droopys Edgar both qualified for next weeks 509 Final at Swindon next week. Highview Rocket was first to qualify when winning Heat 1 in 30.36 beating ex-kennel mate Nats Jedi. Droopys Edgar is showing some nice form of late and that told when he took Heat 3 in 30.23. Hollywood Idol was unplaced. Sadly that was the same for Little Jig who ran into trouble on the turn for home.

There are are total of 215 entries which include 29 from Ireland and one from Hungary.

Officer makes Final

Officer Donagh finished a good second in last nights Northern Sprint in 16.17 to progress to next weeks Final. Sadly Micks Ginger found traffic at the first corner and was eliminated. We didn't have any luck with our other runners, Spruce Storm was a good second whilst Rackethall Hero and Prodigy Vampire were both unplaced.

Miles and miles

Just to keep the miles going round on the van, the team will head to Hove in East Sussex with Mashed Potatoes and Fatboyz Gracie. Gracie will be running in a very hot Recency competition.

Swindon on Wednesday

Swindon have put on a nice 3 heat competition on Wednesday evening so we have entered Droopys Edgar, Hollywood Idol and Little Jig who loves the track.

Sprint up north

Tonight sees the start of the Northern Sprint at Sheffield. We will be taking in the inform Micks Ginger and Officer Donagh. Fingers crossed they can both come away from traps well.

Trainers Special catches the eye

Fatboyz Jade, currently our April Trainers Sale Special, ran out a 3/4 winner of the Maiden Standard over 500 metres at Nottingham last night in 30.89. Fabulous Voyage took Heat 2 of the Grand Prix in 42.81 and will represent us in next weeks final. Voyage took the scalps of both Pony Sheila and Swift Tinto. Highview Lace finished 5th in heat 1.

Monday, 19 April 2010

Heading to Notts

We are heading north tonight for the Grolsch Grand Prix. Highview Lace contests Heat 1 whilst Pony Shiela meets kennel mates Swift Tinto and Fabulous Voyage in Heat 2. Also on the card we have entered Fatboyz Jade and Ten Dollars More.

Monday Treble

It is always nice to feature a new dog on the site. Today it is the turn of Miss Everdean (pictured) who won her first race this afternoon, an A6, in 29.00. Everdean is a full sister to promising pup Lively Mondays. Murrman produced a flying finish to take the A5 to win in 29.68. HiHo Harry had his trapping boots on today as he led the field from start to finish to win in the A3 in 28.42.

Tip Top Form

The dogs continued to show they are in great heart with some super performances at Monmore last night. Both Droopys Glen (2nd) and Centaur Trader (3rd) both made promising debuts. Lively Mondays was unlucky after showing some great early pace. We had three open race winners on the night. Micks Ginger landed the Racing Post NAP when taking the 416 in 25.20. Fatboyz Gracie (pictured) confirmed my belief she is really developing fast with a 38.01 win over 630 metres. I was really pleased for the connections of James Flight who took the British Bred Open in 28.44. On the graded scene there was an impressive win for Ten Dollars More who took the S1 in 38.46.

Return to Coventry

It was great to hear Coventry has received its licence from the Gambling Commission and, GBGB approval permitting, intends to hold a microchipping and registration evening next Friday. Fingers crossed we will back back having runners there very soon.

Just Diamond

Andrees Diamond made it back to wins on Thursday night when running out a two length winner in 28.44 in the A3. After a slow start to her career she looks to be maturing very well.

Job Opportunity

I am looking to recruit an experienced kennel hand to our team. They must be a good driver, have a genuine passion for the sport and prepared to graft. The successful candidate will be paid well and have the opportunity to work within an established team and a strong kennel of dogs.

Hitting the Crossbar

Three seconds for us tonight on the televised card from Hall Green. Ballymac Ace ran an awesome race to finish second to Eye onthe Storm in a track record time of 28.02. Brosscroker lead everywhere but the line as he went down by under a length in 28.41. Officer Donagh finished 4th whilst Little Jig was unplaced.

Live on FB

We are now live on Facebook ! For those who use the social networking site just search for Chris Allsopp 4 Racing and join us on line. Look forward to seeing you there.

Winners continue

Borna Jessica made her 4th start a winning one when running out a 28.59 winner of this afternoons A4. Jessica is a full sister to Fatboyz Eagle and Romeo. I'm very luck to have so many nice pups in at the moment. Bawna Gayle ended four months without a win when taking the A5 in 28.80.

Trainers April Special

I've twisted for arm of Anthony Cameron to give our website readers an April Trainers Special offer. I pleased to offer Fatboyz Jade at a discount of £750 ! This bitch will be winning very soon, mark my words. I think tracks like Nottingham and Sheffield should be perfect for this galloping bitch. Full details on the sale page shortly. As always first come first served.

Sky Night Tuesday

I hoping Ballymac Ace can find his trapping boots tomorrow in the Final of the Blue Riband at Hall Green. He doesn't seem to like the curved traps at the Birmingham track. He is very well in himself so fingers crossed, we have to accept it looks a very tough race. Also on the card Droopys Edgar takes his chance in the Geoff Demulder Memorial Final. Also on card will be Little Jig, Bosscroker and Officer Donagh.

Battered and bruised

Anthony Cameron suffered a typical day in a greyhound owners life when suffering a big win and two injuries. Fatboyz Eagle hit the rail so hard on Saturday he actually broke it when running at Monmore. Thankfully it is just a case of a few bruises. Fatboyz Romeo was within a millimetre of going round in front at Peterboro in their Puppy Derby only to have his back legs taken away. He has fractured his shoulder and will be off the track until he fully recovers. Back at Monmore Fatboyz Gracie ran out an impressive winner in the 630 open race. I think this bitch is now really starting to find her feet and I'm very hopeful we can get Anthony a few more nice wins with her.

The Monmore 8

A mighty eight winners for the team last night at Monmore Green. Pony Sheila was first to oblige when making it 2 wins from 2 starts when staying on well to take the 684 open in 41.65. She couldn't have started her career any better. Ballymac Sarah took the very next race, an A5, in 28.89. Kennel-hand Mat Webbs dog to follow, Lively Mondays, made it three wins on the bounce when taking the A2 in 28.52 by 5 1/2 lengths. A stunning performance by such a young pup. Fatboyz Gracie got just reward for some recent good performances when she won the 630 Open in 37.92. Micks Ginger made it an Open Race treble when securing the 416 in 25.06. Swift Tinto then won the S1 in 38.13 by 6 1/2 lengths. This was his third win on the bounce, a return to the open race scene beckons for this son of Hondo Black. Bunas Ginger then recorded his first win when taking the A8 in 29.36. Spruce Storm was our final winner of an amazing night when taking the A1 in 28.69.

Friday, 9 April 2010

Friday Double

A nice grading double for us at Monmore. Ballymac Siobhan put in a super display when running away with the A8 in 29.40 by 3 lengths. Dadleys Storm is loving the step up to six bends and made it 2 wins from 3 starts when taking the S4 in 39.16.

Celia off the mark

Ballymac Celia (pictured) took Thursday evenings A6 in 29.07 as she was our sole winner on the card. We just missed the target with Ballymac Dolores and Mallogs Toby.

Ace storms to Riband Final

Ballymac Ace finished second in the Stan James Blue Riband Semi Final to progress to next weeks category one Final, live on Sky. With only Jogadusc Ace pinging from traps the rest of the field had to battle hard to make the corner. Ace stuck to his task well to deny Fear Zafonic second place. I am really pleased for loyal owner Ted Megaw. Bosscroker ran his heart out in the other Semi Final but could only finish 4th. The Mark Glastonbury owned Droopys Edgar ran a stormer to take Heat 1 of the Stan James Geoff DeMulder Memorial Stakes to win in 28.31.

Thompson steps in

Gary Thompson is the new owner of Molljoise after agreeing a deal with me this morning. Good luck to him with his new recruit.

Officer Denied

Officer Donagh was denied his first win of 2010 when he finished a brave second behind the smart Corby Glen in the Betfred Sprint Final at Nottingham last night. Cohen Silver was a little better than the finishing position of third after suffering traffic problems on the first bend.

Sale Update

The easter sale brought new owner Daniel Smelt "aka Clipboard" in to the kennel as he purchased Yasmins Joy. Mick Giles stepped in to take the very promising Mallogs Toby. Good Luck to both set of connections. I will be posting Aprils "Trainers" Special and one other dog tomorrow evening. Please ensure you check back on the site at regular intervals.

Vampire Strikes

Prodigy Vampire ran out an impressive six length winner this afternoon when taking the A3 in 28.78. This was her third career success for us. Fatboyz Rocky was another easy winner when taking the other A3 in 28.98. This lad has plenty of early toe and should continue to win many races. Swift Tinto took the closing race on the card, an A1, when staying on very strongly to win in 28.87. A return to open racing beckons for this kennel star.

Officer hoping to be King

Officer Donagh will be bidding to end his losing run this evening at Nottingham. After a wonderful year in 2009 it has taken him a while to find his feet this year. Tonight he goes from trap 5 in the Sprint Trophy. Also running is Cohen Silver who runs in the first open race of the night.

Long odds for Riband

Stan James have given our two contenders for the Blue Riband very little chance at all in tomorrow nights Semi Finals. Bosscroker is quoted at 25/1 for his Semi Final whilst Ballymac Ace is 16/1.

Sunday, 4 April 2010

Pony Trek

On an evening of mixes fortunes for the kennel, Pony Sheila (pictured) made a stunning debut when taking the Ladbrokes.com 630 by 6 lengths in 38.59. A promising future beckons. Our only other runner to hit the target was Hiho Harry who won the A4 in 29.10. Best of our other runners was Micks Ginger who was second.

Ace and Bosscroker progress in Riband

Both our Blue Riband contenders progressed to Tuesday Semi Finals at Hall Green last night. This years competition looks to be seriously tough to win with the likes of Fear Zafonic and Eye on the Storm among those still in contention. Bosscroker stuck to his guns very well to snatch the third qualifying place behind Eye Eye Pickle. Ballymac Ace was third being Derby favourite Eye on the Storm. Both our runners will did to record personal bests in next Tuesdays Semi Finals. The draws are as follows :-

First: 1 Moneygall Obama, 2 Eye Eye Pickle, 3 Coolavanny Rock, 4 Dalcash Scolari, 5 Frisby Fontenblu (m), 6 Carden Bert (w).

Second: 1 Eye Onthe Storm, 2 Barnfield Rocky, 3 Freedom Emma (m), 4 Bosscroker (m), 5 Driving Up Ben (w), 6 Klockwork Kyla (w).

Third: 1 Fear Zafonic, 2 Lodgeview, 3 Ballymac Ace, 4 Jogadusc Ace, 5 Lenson Bolt (m), 6 Karma Obama (w).

Widtink is star turn

Townhill Widtink made it four wins from five starts when recording the fastest time of the night when running out a comfortable A1 winner in 28.51. Fast Bond landed her first win at Monmore when taking the A5 in 29.02. Another bitch winning her first race was Andrees Diamond who recorded a success in the A4 in 29.00. Swift Tinto seemed to enjoy the step back in trip when taking the scalp of kennel mates Fatboyz Eagle and Mallogs Toby in 29.06. Spruce Storm opened his Monmore account for us when winning the closing A1 of the evening in 29.36, running on very well.
