Jig takes Final and the Clock

Little Jig took the £1,500 Final of the Compton Bassett Pride of the West at Swindon this evening when recording a 4 1/2 length win in 29.65 and taking the track record. It was a super performance from the bitch who has been a revelation for the kennel since joining us. Our other runner Hollywood Idol finished a brave 4th and had it all do after Little Jig led the inside up. Congratulations to winning owners the Mclean family who had a wonderful night at the track.

One eye on the press

It was great to be featured in the Racing Post this morning. I hope the regular readers found my views an interesting read. It was also great to see Little Jig on the front page of the greyhound section. Fingers crossed for tonight.

Off Target

A night without a winner is always grim but sadly that's racing. Officer Donagh's wonderful winning run came to an end by the shortest of short heads when he finished second in 15.61. Neither Highview Lace, Brett Time or Centaur Marine made the frame.

Please remember all photographs are copyright and can not reproduced or used for other purposes without permission.

Can Idol stop us having a Jig

As always we will be putting plenty of miles on the van this week. On Tuesday we have entered Officer Donagh, Brett Time, Highview Lace and Centaur Marine at Hall Green. On Wednesday Little Jig (pictured) clashes with Hollywood Idol in the Pride of the West Final at Swindon. Lets hope they both fly to the corner and lead round. On Thursday we are heading back to Belle Vue with Rackethall Hero and Centaur Allstar.

Plums Anyone

He might be over four years old but old Gums N Plums (pictured) is still loving his racing at Monmore. The old boy made it 12 career wins from 66 races this afternoon when taking the afternoons A4 in 29.04. It was nice to see Bethanys Boy go down in a few of the punters notebooks as a dog to follow after finishing a strong second in his only second career race. Sadly we did not have any luck with our three runners at Coventry last night.

Paddy off to the Sofa

Head iton Paddy, one of our long time kennel stars has been retired after a fantastic career on the track. The son of Head for Glory x Caressing won 26 of his 98 races over a range of distances including wins at Monmore, Coventry, Sheffield, Belle Vue, Donaster, Perry Barr and Nottingham. I'm sure he will be well loved and cared for loyal owner Steve Dingley. Enjoy your retirement Paddy !

Sweet Sixteen for Officer

Kennel superstar Officer Donagh had his regular Sunday morning walk with owners this morning ahead of his next race at Hall Green on Tuesday where he will be attempting to back it six wins on the bounce. He already has won an amazing 16 races this year and it is a pleasure to train such a wonderful dog. Clearly the morning walks are doing the dog a world of good.

Bread and Butter

It is great to be charging aroung the country with top class dogs but we can never forget to ensure all our loyal owners are continuued to be welcomed on a Sunday morning. I have just agreed a new deal with our webmasters to continue with the website and refresh a number of the pages. This morning we have had over 100 photographs taken for site which will be intergrated into the main website and blog over coming weeks.

Ginger & Elsa Star

Micks Ginger bounced back from an enforced layoff with an injury to storm to 1 3/4 length win in the Ladbrokes 416 Open Race in 24.77. Highview Susie stunned the local punters when romping home by over 7 lengths in the A7 in 28.98. Our next winner came care of Prodigy Vampire who won his first race for us since switching from Hall Green when winning the A4 in 28.77. Our final winner of the night came from Bawna Elsa who landed the Duplicated 416 Open race in 24.83. Sin City Slicker was third at Sunderland in the Northern Puppy Derby Trial Stake.

Just Kurious

Kurious Incident finished a brave 4th in the Category 1 Romford Puppy Cup Final this evening. This was just her third race in her UK career and will hopefully become one of our kennel stars.

Broad lead a Thursday Treble

Broad World made it 4 career wins last night when taking the A4 in 28.90. Dads Fantasy ran very strongly to take the A7 in 28.88, a super performance. Highview Honda made it a night to remember when bringing the treble up in the second A4 in 28.71. It will be worth keeping an eye on the sale page as I been informed to drop the price to two current dogs and I have a nice prospect to add shortly.

Off to a Flyer

Snugfit Flyer recorded a 5 length win last night when winning the Walsall Ladies FC A2 in 28.53. He simply blasted out of the traps and never saw another dog in an impressive display.

Laurals Round 1

A good night for our two representatives in the Laurels. Centaur Allstar recorded the fastest sectional of the competition when landing Heat 4 in 27.70. The 5 1/2 length win has but a marker down ahead of the Semi Finals next week. Joining him in the Semi Final is Rackethall Hero who finished a brace second to Target Brett. The draw for the Semi Finals is available by clicking here.

Pride of the West

We will have two representatives in Swindons "Pride of the West " Final over 509 metres next week. Hollywood Idol finished second behind Swift Dougal in 30.10. He suffered some crowding around the last two bends so could well improve given a good draw in the Final. He will however have to beat kennelmate Little Jig who won heat 3 in the fastest heat in 29.77 taking care of Highview Rocket who finished a brave third. It was nice to see former kennel mate Maltese Jim win and still looking in great heart.

Odds on Donagh

Officer Donagh made it an amazing 16 wins in 2009 when winning the Hall Green Septemper Sprint last night in 15.44 at the prohibitive odds of 1/7. This was his 5th win on the bounce. Centaur Marine made it two straight wins when taking the Standard Open in 28.82 by 2 1/2 lengths.

Fatboyz Joins

I am pleased to welcome and formally announce that Anthony Cameron of the Fatboyx prefix has purchased Quit Saving. It is pleasure to recruit another big owner to the kennel. Quit Saving looks to be a fantastic prospect and lets hope she can delivery Anthony plenty of big nights and lots of winners.

Teds Ace

Mr Megaw looks to have found a very nice prospect for himself. Ballymac Ace who is a son of Ace Hi Rumble out of Ballymac Mir, flew around Monmore before racing on Thursday in a stunning 15.25. Fingers crossed he can stay sound and give one of my most local owners plenty of success when hitting the track.

Licking Lips

We have an busy week of Open Racing ahead of us this week as we look to sustain our challenge in the Trainers Championship. The results this week are of the utmost importantance to us. On Tuesday we will cross the city to Hall Green with Officer Donagh, Brett Time, Fabulous Voyage and Centaur Marine. On Wednesday we have entered Little Jig, Highview Rocket and Hollywood Idol in the heats of the Pride of the West at Swindon. Thursday it will be Belle Vue with Centaur Allstar and Rackethall Hero who take part in the Laurals. Finally on Friday Kurious Incident takes her chance in the Romford Puppy Cup Final.

Romford Final Bound

Kurious Incident (24.12 sec) overcame trouble to win her Semi Final from Droopys Flo Jo in the Semi Final in the Romford Puppy Cup on Friday. Despite a great run Kurious (pictured) she will have it all to do to beat hot favourite Westmead Carl, who is even money favourite with the bookmakers. However she goes it was been a great performance by bitch who has has just two runs for us.

Draw for Friday's decider: 1 Westmead Carl 2 Kurious Incident 3 Dilton Eagle 4 Droopys Flo Jo (m) 5 Deanridge Gooner (m) 6 Lenson Bolt (m)

Strictly Anna

Bawna Anna glided around the Monmore bends better than Ola on Strictly last night as she recorded 28.44 when winning the Monmore Bitches 480 Open race. Dadleys Storm registered his second career win when taking the A9 in 29.17. This young pup was home bred by us and is creeping us the grades and is worth keeping an eye on. Out final winner of the evening was Bosscroker who made it two Open race wins on the trot. Despite finding trouble on the third bend he dug deep and got up in the last stride to win in 28.50.

Round Up

It is always great to have new dogs in the kennel. Flyingwithoutflo is a nice new bitch who made a stunning debut last night when getting up in the last stride to win the A5 in 29.00. Bargain buy Bawna Gayle won again this afternoon taking advantage of an easier race when taking the A3 in 28.73.

Hall Green Double

A tidy double for us last night across the city at Hall Green. Centaur Marine has had a difficult year with a lot of small niggles and no luck however he ran out an impressive 4 1/2 length winner in 28.49. The win machine known as Officer Donagh made it 15 open wins for the year and 4 on the bounce when winning in 15.49.

Quit Saving

The phone is always going with various offers from Ireland. So when the chance came to get Quit Saving into the kennel it was an opportunity not to be missed. I am pleased to be able to offer her for sale to our regular website followers. An August 2007 bitch bred Top Savings x Quit It, has the form and pedigree to make anyone sit up. Her dam Quit It is a daughter of Black Stone Lace that threw Irish Derby winner Like a Shot, Ja Man and Blacksone Gene. On the track she is a win machine. Second time over the trip at Thurles she was just 2 lengths of College Causeways track record !! She won a Novice Stake Final on Saturday by 6 lengths in 42.13. Whilst priced at £9,000 she will stay further and could be a marathon bitch of the highest class. I'm expecting to sell her very quickly for as always its first come first served.

Owners Sale

A couple of my owners are selling a couple of their lesser lights as they have younger dogs on the way from Ireland. When this happens it does give the opportunity for other owners or new owners to pick up a bargain or two. Officer Donagh was a similar opportunity this year. This time around we have :- Townhill Widtink (Produce Stakes Finalist) £1,500, Ballymac Bound (A2/A3, very well bred) £1,500, Swift Empire (A2, still on upgrade £750) and the pictured Vancouver Dylan (From a superstar litter, multiple open race winner) £3,000. If you are interested please call, as ideally I'd like to keep these dogs in the kennel.

Tooty Fruity

Burnpark Champ has returned to Ireland to stand at stud. This dog was blessed with rapid pace and will be remembed by all the team as one of the fastest dogs we will ever train. Sadly despite all our efforts Champ would not stay sound to race. Good luck to him in his new career.

No Jig at Nottingham

Sadly Little Jig could only finish 4th in the National Oaks at Nottingham last night behind the super bitch Special Liberty. She plugged on gamely however crowding on the second corner really ended her chance.

Swift Success

Swift Empire landed this afternoons A3 at Monmore when staying on strong to win by 3/4 length in 28.75. Empire who struggled to find his feet early in his career and took 17 races to get off the mark now is starting to look the real deal with 3 wins out of the last 7 and is creeping up the grades.

X Factor

Plenty more excitement at Monmore rather than the TV on Saturday as we registered a quick fire treble. Bosscroker got the ball rolling when taking the Maiden in 28.48. After finding traffic problems in his first two runs we should now see what the dog is really capable of. The step up to A3 did not stop Nats Warrior winning as he romped to a 3 3/4 length win in 28.42, running on strongly. Our final winner was the ever improving Hollywood Idol who recorded 27.98 when winning the A1. Centaur Allstar was unplaced at Shelbourne Park.

On the bunny

Kurious Incident made a pleasing debut in the Romford Puppy Cup when finishing third to the experienced Westmead Carl. In finishing third she will progress to next weeks Semi Final. This evening we are heading to Dublin with Centaur Allstar who takes on the best in Ireland. The race is part of the undercard for the Irish Derby Final. Bosscroker, Brett Time, Centaur Bliss and Bawna Gayle are all in Maiden Opens at Monmore on Saturday. The start of next week already looks busy as Little Jig is at Nottingham in the National Oaks whilst we visit Hall Green on Tuesday with Officer Donagh, Centaur Marine and Teds Fizz.

22 for Nicky

Blue Fox Nicky made in 22 career wins yesterday when beating kennelmate Highview Lace in yesterdays S2 in 38.67.

Broad World wins again

Broad World made it back to back wins on Thursday when running out a 2 1/2 length winner in 28.84 in the A5 grade. She was remarkably brave when forcing her way through on the inner on the third corner. With three wins on her card I think she is still one to follow.

Tuesday, 8 September 2009

National Oaks

Little Jig progressed to the Semi Final of the National Oaks at Nottingham last night when finishing second behind Britania Flyer in 30.81 over 500 metres. Bosscroker finished unplaced after suffereing serious traffic problems in running. Finally Turar Abit finished a brave third behind Farloe Rocket in the Standard.

Injury Update

Our sport is best described as a roller coaster and ups and downs can happen most weeks. I am sad to report we have lost Mashed Potatoes (pictured) and Maylin to injuries in the last week. Both are likely to be out of action for a minimum of 3 months. It very tough to take for the owners of such super dogs.

Officer's win in just bliss

Officer Donagh (pictured) led the way for us to land a treble on Saturday. The win was his 14th win of 2009, an amazing return for any dog. In winning he beat Monmore Gold Cup Finalist Aulton George in 15.36. Gums N Plums took advantage of a grade drop when taking the A5 in 28.76 (+30). This was his 11th career win and has he has been a great dog to train and gives his owners a lot of pleasure. Finally there was another win for Centaur Bliss who landed the A2 in 28.72.
