5 Alive

The dogs appear to be really bouncing at the moment, clearly they enjoy the sun on their backs. Last night we had 4 graded winners and an Open Race winner at Monmore. The very promising Sin City Slicker made it three wins from 3 starts when taking the Puppy Open in 28.67. Nats Jedi won the following race, an A2, in 28.58. Recondite then returned to his best when winning the following A2 in 28.49. Liscahane Mavis made a great start to her career over six bends when taking the S2 in 35.52. Bourne Cruiser made it a five timer when winning the A6 in 28.79.

Stadium of Light

Centaur Allstar (pictured) pushed himself to the front rank of the market for the upcoming William Hill Classic with a stunning 27.30 win at Sunderland last night. Droopys Tarzan and Turar Abit finished 4th whilst Micks Ginger was an unlucky 3rd. All will benefit from a good look round at the track.

All good in the sun

Tipperary Dahlia landed her 9th career win from 51 starts yesterday afternoon when taking the opening A6 in 29.40. The veteran Sunrise, a August 2005 bitch, showed the youngsters how to run when winning the S5 in 39.36. Sunrise has never failed to give her best in any of her 78 career races to win and probably the reason she has now won 11 races.

Open Race Entries

Sin City Slicker heads to Monmore tomorrow for his debut in Open Race company. Highview Rocket returns to 480 metre action in the Standard Open. We are also taking four dogs to Newcastle for competition Trial Stakes, these are new intake Droopys Tarzan, Micks Ginger, Centaur Allstar and Turar Abit. On Sunday we have five runners at Coventry - Rackethall Hero, Indigo King, Rev Counter, Scotties Warrior and Highview Gold. Finally Officer Donagh will run at Oxford on Tuesday, live on Sky.

Thurdsay Winners

Three winners on the graded scene at Monmore last night. Borna Edge was the first to oblige when taking the A3 in 29.18. Highview Honda is a model of consistency and got rewarded again when taking the second A3 of the night in 29.03. Rackethall Hero made it 2 wins from third starts when recording the fastest time of the night, 28.43, when taking the A1.

No luck up north

Sadly we had to settle for a 2nd and a 3rd on the Sky televised card from Newcastle on Wednesday. Droopys Jervis was beaten by a smart performance by Ballymac Well and Officer Donagh went down by the shortest of short heads after suffering serious traffic problems in running.

Sales News

Both Moscow Becks and Duke were both sold yesterday, many thanks to those made a purchase. I'm adding a super bitch to the Sale page within the next hour that I expect to sell very quickly. It will be a case of first come first served.

Robin Hood Raid

Turar Abit brought home the Grolsch Standard Trophy last night at Nottingham when getting up in the final stride to win the 500 metre contest in 30.36. Turar Abit's win was a great wedding present for owners Alun and Tanya Johnson.

Night out with Sky

Wednesday will see us head to Newcastle with Officer Donagh and Droopys Jervis. You will be able the watch the races live on Sky Sports as they are on the undercard of the William Hill TV Trophy.

Bend it like Beckham

Bookem Danno (pictured)bounced back to form this afternoon when recording an amazing 9 length win in S2 in 38.12. Danno's win was part of a fantastic treble. Highview Susie clearly benefited from her owners walk down the lanes yesterday as she romped to a win at 6/1 in the A6 (28.85). Finally, I did advise just yesterday that the Moscow pups are still on the massive upgrade and Moscow Becks confirmed this when winning the A6 in 28.90, powering away at the pick up.

Rolling back the years

The old guard kept up our momentum in the Trainers Championship last night as we landed a Coventry Open Race Treble. Out first winner came care of Indigo King who made it 2 wins from 2 starts when winning in 29.52. Winner 2 was over 680 metre when Head iton Paddy (pictured) ran out a comfortable winner in 43.58. Finally Rev Counter made it a hatrick of wins when taking Division B in 29.53.

What ever the weather

Sunday mornings are as busy as ever at the kennels. It is great to see so many of our loyal owners turn up what ever the weather to walk their beloved dogs. Pictures are :- Pikers Lane, Owners Chat, Micks Ginger close up and Micks Ginger profile.

Moscow Cold Snaps

We have just added a photograph of each of the Moscow pups that are currently for sale. Mark my words these pups are great value for money. If interested please call me.

Warrior and Sin Very Slick

Sadly Centaur Allstar was crowded early on in his Trial Stake at Sunderland last night and could only finish third behind Fargo Star. He will benefit for the experience at the track and go back as the dog to beat. Sin City Slicker, highlighted by Steve Jennings as a dog to follow for 2009, caught the eye on a graded card on Monmore. Recording his second win from two starts his 28.45 in A3 ( 2 grade rise) was one of the fastest times of the night, a super prospect. Scotties Warrior made it back to back wins when taking the nights A1 in 28.50.

Windy Nights

Bawna Gayle brought home the winners medal for us last night when winning last nights A4 in 28.98. Quickly away from traps Gayle ran out a three length winner.

Chips for Tea

The GBGB's pilot project to evaluate microchipping as a permanent method of greyhound identification has entered its second stage with chipping now complete at our home track of Monmore Green. The microchips are the size of rice grain and its a great opportunity to get all the dogs done whilst the programme is free.

The chips have all been implanted by a trained Paddock Steward and the process is very quick and pain-free to the greyhounds. Importantly, there do not appear to be any adverse affects of microchipping on greyhound welfare or race performance. In fact, quite a few greyhounds representing a variety of trainers have won first time out after being chipped!"

Meeting Steve

We have just added our last staff profile to the "Our Team" section of the website. Steve has a wealth of experience in the sport and is a valuable asset to our current team.

Officer Shines on Sky

Officer Donagh put in another star turn on the undercard of the Gymcrack Final night live on Sky yesterday. He showed some rapid pace around the two tight bends to win in 15.43. This was his 10th win of 2009 and 5th win from 6 starts. Turar Abit was a brave second to the tough Mark Wallis trained Directors Chair.

Calling Moscow

I've have just added three November 2007 pups to the for sale section of the website. I've priced all three at just £1,000 and it is a case of first come first served. I'm expecting all three to win their share of races and perhaps we might have another Centaur Bliss amongst them !

Mixed Fortunes

It was an afternoon of mixed fortunes for us all yesterday. Ten Yards made it back to back wins when taking the opening A4 in 29.54. In the Bitches competition Bawna Anna, Centaur Bliss and Cabra Fly were all eliminated. In the Dog competition Rackethalll Hero put in a stunning display to run away from a good field in 28.36 at a huge 9/1. Townhill Widtink finished second in his heat to join his kennelmate in Fridays Final whilst Vancouver Dylan was unplaced. In the competition over 416 metres Micks Ginger was badly impeded twice and could only finish 5th. Mark my words, this lad can run and is one to follow.

Indigo is King

Indigo King won his first race for us on Sunday when taking the opening Open Race at Coventry. Staying in touch early on, he stormed home off the last bend to win in an impressive 29.53 by 4 lengths.

Open Race Update

Droopys Jervis was sadly eliminated from the Gymcrack this week. Sadly when you are bumped out of the race there is very little you can do, it's a real shame as this dog deserves to reach a big Final. Sunday will see us head to Coventry with Indigo King and Liscahane Mavis.

Ladbrokes have sponsored three competitions that run along side with the Summer Stayers Classic. We appear to hold particularly strong claims for the Bitches contest where we have entered 5-2 favourite Cabra Fly, Centaur Bliss also Bawna Anna, who only last week completed a hat-trick of open-race wins when landing the Puppy Oaks over Nottingham's 480-metres. In the Dogs competition we will have Vancouver Dylan, Rackethall Hero and Townhill Hoodwink. Micks Ginger will make his debut in the 416 competition.

Thursday Slickers

Two winners on the Thursday night graded card. Ten Yards landed the opening heat of the night when taking the A5 in 29.02. Sin City Slicker then made a superb debut when winning the second A5 of the night in 28.85.

Scurry Glory

Centaur Allstar landed the Showsec Security Scurry this evening at Belle Vue in 15.10. Having two runners in a big Final live on Sky brings it's own pressures but thankfully all the hard work we all put in to the dogs paid dividends as both our runners broke fast to lead home a kennel 1st and 2nd. I was over the moon for the connections of Allstar who purchased the dog who was not cheap off our own Sale page. These big wins could be impossible without good owners like I have throughout the kennel. Officer Donagh ran a stormer of a race to chase Allstar home. That's one Final win each ! A great night.

Anna takes Puppy Oaks

Bawna Anna captured the Peter Derrick Puppy Oaks at Nottingham last night. Quickly in to her stride she showed some super pace to win in 28.95. Anna has now won three of her four races in the England and is a serious prospect for the future. Liscahane Mavis finished a brave 5th. Rev Counter is clearly on top form again and he won the Steve Charlesworth Standard in 30.47. Our other runners were unplaced. At Monmore none of our runners qualified for the Semi Finals of the Summer Classic.

Headlines News

It was great to see Centaur Allstar and Officer Donagh capturing the eye of the national press after their great wins in the Semi Finals of the Scurry. Both dogs are bouncing ahead of Tuesday's Final live on Sky Sports.

Saturday Night Fever

A lovely treble for us last night on the graded scene at Monmore. Highview Honda made it two wins from three starts when taking the A4 in 28.90. Then the consistant Scotties Warrior showed some rapid early race to win the A3 in 28.50. Direct View on the final race on the card when taking advantage of the drop in grade to A6 to win in 29.14. Apologies to all those who tried to access the site mid evening last night. We had a server issue but it was all sorted quickly so hopefully not many of you were inconvenienced.

Do you want another Centaur Allstar ?

I have just been offered a fantastic dog from Ireland called Curlew Mountain. This dog has a 28.54 around Shelbourne park on his card. He was held up for a long time as the trainer wanted him in an A2 stake which he won every round. He landed a major coup taking over 25,000 euro out of the betting ring. Bred by Droopys Vieri x Odette, he should keep on improving. His sectional times compare with vey best around Shelbourne. If we manage to get this dog he will be aimed at all the major competitions. Please call me straight away if interested.

Ladbrokes Summer Stayers

We have three runners in the Monmore Ladbrokes Summer Stayers on Monday afternoon. New recruit Highview Rocket will be looking to build on his tremendous start to his career in England however this is a major step up in class. BookemDanno and Head iton Paddy will look to show him the way to qualification.

Friday Double

Moscow Duke, a November 2007 pup, won his second race this afternoon. Slow away he ran through dogs showing real guts and bravery to get up on the line in 29.70. Highview Success, currently for sale at £300, won yet again this afternoon when taking the A7 in 29.38. Success has now won two of her last three starts.

Meet Dave

Two new members of staff have joined us in recent months. We have added the first of the two new profiles (Dave Bonser) to the "Our Team" section of the main website.

Zoo Track Record

Last night at Belle Vue, Centaur Allstar took the Sprint Track Record when winning the Showsec Security Scurry Cup 1st Semi Final in 15.00. After having a rushed Derby preparation he now looks to be flying and should have a great chance in the Final. Officer Donagh will do doubt be not letting him have it his own way as he won the third Semi Final in 15.13 by a head. The "Officer" has now won his last four races on the bounce.
Trap draw for Tuesday’s live on Sky £6,000 Showsec Security Scurry final: 1 Jethard Jackie 2 Farloe Ferdinand 3 Matts Mentor 4 Centaur Allstar (m) 5 Ping The Lids (m) 6 Officer Donagh (m)

Turar Abit was sadly eliminated from the Cock O' the North at the Semi Final stage after finishing a brave 4th.

Tyrur Partnership

I am pleased to announce a new partnership with the legendary PJ Fahy. PJ's breeding is one of the most respected across the Irish Sea and he has dam lines of the highest quality. We will be having a number of his pups arriving over coming months and most will be available for sale. For further details please call me or speak to me either at the track or at the kennels.

On the edge

Droopys Jervis stands on the edge of reaching his first major final. The August 2007 pup ,out of Droopys Scolari x Classic Wings, has a drawn trap 6 in next weeks Gymcrack Semi Final at Hall Green after finishing second behind Droopys Bogart on Tuesday night in 28.52.

Tuesday, 2 June 2009

Red Hot Anna

The Rob Bayliss owned Bawna Anna put in a stunning performance at Nottingham last night when winning Heat 3 of the Puppy Oaks in 28.88. She will be joined in the Final by Liscahane Mavis who finished second in Heat 1 in 29.30. We have managed to win the Puppy Oaks in the last two years with Cabra Fly and Swift Pat. On the undercard Head iton Paddy was a brave second whilst Centaur Marine and Rackethall Hero were both unplaced after suffered trouble in running.

66/1 Derby Winner Advised

The blog followers were rewarded on Saturday as Kinda Ready won the Blue Square Derby at Wimbledon on Saturday night. Steve was named Derby King after tipping 3 of which all three reached the Final (Ballymacc Ruso & Farloe Reason) including the winner, Kinda Ready, at 66/1. Matt also tipped Kinda Ready, great tipster in the kennel!

Rocket Man

On a busy weekend of racing we had plenty of winners. Saturday's card at Monmore was very competitive with us having three winners which the highlight was Highview Rocket (pictured) winning an Open Race in 28.59, our other winners were Cohen Silver 29.27 A4 and Highview Gold 28.98 A2. Down at Wimbledon Cabra Fly finished a brave third in the bitches race. On Sunday Rev Counter won the Division C Open at Coventry in 29.51, whilst Vancouver Dylan finished 3rd in Division A.
