Usain Bolts To Arc Victory

Kippers Usain is crowned the 2015 Calne Racing Arc champion after a dazzling display of early-pace that his rivals just could not match to the delight of his owner Roly Woodcock and trainer Chris Allsopp.

He gave a display of his devastating early-pace in the first-round recording a mind boggling 2.32 split. He was 1L slower in the final stopping the sectional clock at 2.40 but that was good enough to see him turn in front. Evanta Evita gave chase but even a bitch of her quality never looked like reeling in this former top Irish tracker. Kippers Usain crossed the line 1.5L in front of Evanta Evita with a fast finishing Bubbly Gold a further 0.75L back to take third in 28.60 +10.

This was some performance by Kippers Usain but also by his trainer Chris Allsopp. The dog and the trainer will rightly grab the plaudits but it's worth mentioning his owner Roly Woodcock. There are not too many people who will stump up the cash to by an older greyhound with plenty of miles on the clock. This is not the first time he's done it and got huge success Ballycowen Dave (Kent Derby), Exocet (Kent Derby, Sussex Cup and Night Of Stars) and now Kippers Usain (Arc). All three greyhounds had plenty of experience and perhaps the doubters would be thinking their best days had been and gone. Roly Woodcock is such a positive man his love for the sport shines through in abundance and he's got his own recipe for success that is paying big dividends. I don't know about you but I'd not mind knowing who he's thinking of buying next.

Roly Woodcock Owner Of Kippers Usain

'Swindon is my local track and this was our Derby. He gave us all hope when put in a great performance in the first-round producing that blistering sectional of 2.32. To come out tonight and lead this top quality field up and win the Arc is amazing. I keep getting stick for saying I'm 'over the moon' so let's not say that but it really is such an amazing feeling. I might buy the dogs but all the credit must go to Chris Allsopp he did it with Ballycowen Dave, Exocet and now he's done it with Kippers Usain. The man is a genius what more can I say he just produces miracles and he gets the very best out of the dogs. We now head to the Derby and have a go, why not he owes us nothing and in this kind of form you never know what might happen. I'd like to thank everyone at Swindon and in particular Calne Racing for the amazing sponsorship but most of all I'd like to thank my wonderful trainer Chris Allsopp'.

Keep on punching

Great result for the kennel and Roly, another group one winner with a cheap old dog.
With only 5 open race dogs in the kennel these days, due to being not a fashionable kennel anymore, its a great achievement winning a big race again.
Would like to Steve, Martyn and New kennel hand Paul, for there hard work, and Roly for buying Kippers for us.

Done up like a kipper

We did it, the dog did it, the owner did it!
Kippers Usain bolted out again and led then all a merry dance in the Arc.
Owner Roly Woodcock is yet again rewarded with his faith and loyalty with this massive win

Swindon Arc Final Night Tonight

3 runners tonight on Sky from Swindon, European Queen kicks off in the 7.11 from T6, Domino Storm looks to have the strongest chance but we go there in top form and the big galloping track should suit her.
Lacken Jacksie runs in the next race and once again we bump into a real speedster in Target Harris, Jacksie is on an upward curve however and is not to be underestimated.
Finally in the big race at 9.08pm we have Kippers Usain going for us, Roly Woodcock will be praying for that smash break Kipper showed in the first round, if he does time it right im confident he will outrun his starting price...best of luck to all runners, should be a cracking night win lose or draw.

Calne Racing Arc - Swindon 480m (£8,000)

20/04/2015
Dec trained by Liz McNair is bidding to make Arc history by becoming the only greyhound in the history of the competition to win this great race back-to-back. He got his defence underway in spectacular fashion winning by 4L and stopping the clock in the fastest time of the day of 28.48. He is fast becoming the pin-up for British Breeding and looks set to put up a very big effort in attempting to defend his crown.

He was not the only impressive winner from round-one Millwards Whitey really caught the eye riding a bump at the first-bend and going on to beat the well regarded Evanta Evita 5L in a fast 28.59. Domino Storm put a smile back on the face of Mark Wallis by making all to score by 1.75L over Leamaneigh Turbo in 28.61. 2014 East-Anglian Derby champion Swift Keith got in on the act winning by 0.75L in 28.97. Droopys Jarrow showed all his battling qualities to overcome first-bend crowding to get up close home to beat Bromwich Tom 0.5L in 28.90.

In the last heat Kippers Usain showed explosive early-pace and enjoyed a trap-to-line success in 28.72. There are not many greyhounds capable of producing a 2.32 split and to put it in to prospective when Shaneboy Alley took this final by storm in 2013 breaking the track-record (28.18) he posted a 2.37 sectional.

First-Round Times At A Glance

Millwards Whitey: 2.43, 28.59.

King Dec: 2.48, 28.48.

Dominio Storm: 2.41, 28.61

Swift Keith: 2.45: 28.97

Droopys Jarrow: 2.45, 28.90

Kippers Usain: 2.32, 28.72

Roly Woodcock Owner Of Kippers Usain

'You have to give his trainer Chris Allsopp massive credit he is a genius and certainly knows how to bring a greyhound on. I've had a lot of success buying the older greyhound for not stupid money like Ballycowen Dave (Kent Derby winner) and probably most famous of all Exocet (winner of Kent Derby, Sussex Cup and Night Of Stars). I purchased Kippers Usain at Christmas and he developed a blood disorder, he was leading but getting caught. Chris looks to have worked his magic once more and if he keeps trapping like he did in the heats we are going to have a lot of fun with him this year including a crack at the Derby. He is not getting any younger but there is potentially a lot of improvement left in him judged on his heat run. It is great to be involved in the competition and i'd like to thank Swindon and the sponsor for putting on this great competition'.

Jessie robs them!

Curragh Jessie is flying high again, this time in an 8 dog race at Towcester today, she proved too strong from green jacket and swept into the lead off the last bend.

Curragh Jessie

He aint no Kipper!

Three corkers over the weekend so far, Friday saw Dubai Lassie finally hold on all the way to the line with a gritty win by a head in 28.89 at Towcester.
Saturday night saw Mattbeth get back on the winning trail with a deadheat victory in the D2.
The Arc heats took place at Swindon last night and our own Kippers Usain got the job done in blistering fashion, a sensational 2.32 split saw him rocket out for a trap to line win and at the rewarding odds of 10/1...in the hat for the next round.

Just a Friday double to report on

A quiet weekend by our recent standards, European Queen proved she's right back to form on Friday proper with another Perry Barr Open win, taking it up at the third bend she asserted her class with a cosy 28.57 win.
Also on Friday we saw Holdem Apache make it three wins from his last four 6 bend races with a fine display in S2 company at Towcester and is starting to shape up into a quality hound.

Weekend Round Up

Some weekend house keeping to catch up on, Friday saw a nice treble from the team, Curragh Jessie revealed her true self with a strong late run to get up on the line to win, Proud Charm went off an incredibly generous 6/1 for one so young and winning his first ever race and promises plenty more and then Droopys Portrush got off the mark for new owner Mark Lowther with an A4 victory and will surely scale the heights in 2015. Only one winner on Saturday but it was worth the wait, Holdem Apache scalped his rivals with another all the way win in S2 class.
