Pups with immense potential!

As we are all aware in the greyhound game today - there is a huge shortage of emerging young talent coming through - breeding figures in Ireland are at their lowest levels for a number of years.

Here in the UK - breeding levels are extremely low - its a costly and lengthy process.

As a result young pups emerging that look top open class are being snapped up very quickly for the likes of next years £250,000 English Derby.
We have recently received reports on three hugely promising young pups - two of them are only April 13 whelps and the other one is only a May 2013 whelp.
We are currently in negotiations for them and are monitoring their progress very carefully - One of them is a Crash pup and his dam won in 28.47 for the 525 yards. His dam line has already bred a Gold Cup winner at Monmore and an All England cup winner at Newcastle.

This pup in only is 2nd 525 yards ever recorded a brilliant 28.85 on one of the toughest tracks in Ireland

The 2nd pup is a Kinloch Brae whelp - his dam was also major open class and won in 28.60 for the 525 yards -  This pup recorded 29.15 in his 2nd ever 525yards. He comes from the famous 'Tyrur' damline

The 3rd pup  is only May 13, he  comes from the same people who launched 'You Mind Me' onto the English racing scene - He won the Pall mall and broke the track record at Sittingbourne and also won 3 rounds of the English derby before having to be withdrawn.

This pup has done a 17.78 for the sprint and 'You Mind Me' did a 17.95 at the same track. This pup has also recorded a brilliant 28.78 in his 2nd 525 yards and will easily go faster.
These pups look the real deal and are eligible for the likes of next years 2015 Midland Puppy Derby.

If they improve further which they should easily do - we will be looking to secure all 3 of them for our Open race team here at Westview Kennels and launching them at the Category One events next year.

Really pleased to welcome Mr Stuart Forsdike to the kennel, Stuart is one of the biggest owners in the UK and runs his dogs under the Aero prefix.
He has been thinking about joining the Kennel for some time now and when he spotted Capoola Chick on the website, he decided this was the right time to dive in.
Stuart has took 50 % of Chick with other leading owner Baz Knight, good luck to them both.

Latest on the Queen

Having spoken to Gerry Holian this morning and our EGRC Irish contacts

They both feel that 'European queen' (Hazel) faces an extremely tough & Hazaradous draw in the 3rd round of the Irish derby.

Gerry Holian has said she is in great form this morning although she was tired after the race she bounced back this morning and looks to be in tip top shape -

Having studied the draw - she has unluckily drawn one of the hottest heats of the 3rd round.

It contains an English derby 2nd in 'Droopys ward' - trap 2 is 'Metro Jack' - recent winner of the £25,000 Dundalk International.

Trap 3 is 'Paradise Maverik' - one of Pat Buckleys leading dogs - 29.59 in the 2nd round - Trap 4 is Homeless Boy - 29.36 for the 550 yards at Shelbourne -

Trap 5 is - 'Droopys nidge' - 28.00 at Shelbourne and the current Joint Fav for the Irish derby.

The real concern for our EGRC team is that they feel that 'Droopys Nidge' from trap 5 looks to move right on the run up and this could well hinder

queens chances of getting a clear run on the run to the 1st bend.

Hopefully this does not occur - as both Gerry and Chris feel that given a clear run -they  would be confident of her reaching the quarter finals and that she has the pace to qualify.

whatever happens - European queen has clearly demonstrated that she is one of the fastest 'females' in training in either Ireland or the UK.

Not many bitches can clock 29.56 for the 550 yards at Shelbourne park

why not become a member and owner and live the derby dream? All for a once off Payment of just £300.

After the derby, Possible targets include the English Oaks or even the £25,000 Irish St Ledger at Limerick in October and the Night of stars at Shelbourne for a £10,000 to winner one off race which is in November/December.

All these have to be confirmed but for a once off payment of £300 stg with no extra charges you will become the  proud owner of one seriously fast greyhound who has the pace to win major competitions.

Lynn is a little Gem!

More than a little housework to catch up on.
Last Saturday we had a double at Monmore with Larky Ego easily landing the S2 in 38.35 then Lynns Little Gem with an impressive win in A2 class (28.56). Monday saw Corley Snow victorious  in A8 (29.27) and Tiernans Choice then went and won the A2 Owners Bonus Series Final on Thursday.

Finally today at the Green on the Gold Cup card, Lynns Little Gem went in again when taking her heat of the Ladbrokes Puppy 480m Open Heat 1 in 28.73, her fastest of the heats 4.36 sectional should be a handy weapon in next weeks Final

Terrific Young Prospect to join us

One young dog we have just agreed terms on has clocked some flying times -CAPOOLA CHICK she has just recently finished 2nd in one of the most prestigious novice stakes in Ireland - which is worth over £8,000 euros in prizemoney -

The stake she was in, has been previously won by Irish puppy derby winners - & Irish oaks winners - top class open race dogs are specially kept for it every year.

This young bitch - has clocked some sensational times - *she has 4 races in a row won* - and her times include - *28.88 - 28.70* & a flying **28.55** for the 480m which was easily the fastest time of the night - these were achieved on one of Irelands slowest running tracks -which is officially given .30 slow by the Irish greyhound board. (Igb)

The winner of the stake £15,000 wouldn't buy her - and this bitch clocked faster times than her in the heats!

NB: We have agreed terms with the owner of this youngster and have achieved a 20% discount in the asking price - from what she was advertised at.

This youngster will only cost a low four figure sum and she will join our top open race team and we be aimed at the likes of all the oaks comps here in the UK including the English oaks.

£4000
