Young Guns show their metal at Henlow

The Premius Henlow Puppy Derby started last night at the Bedfordshire track. All six heats looked very competitive but it would be a great chance to see how some of our new pups would fair against the best in the country.

Sharp Bullet was badly crowded in Heat 1 so never really got any sort of run behind Guinness Dusty. Both of our dogs qualified from Heat 2 which was very pleasing given the opposition included the highly rated Coolavanny Bert. Doobys Gone West gave Bert plenty to think about in the early stages however a bump on the corner let Penrhiw Guto force his way through. Bert kicked clear but I was really proud how Guto and Doobys stayed on to take places in the Semi Final line up. Fifis Legend (pictured) led all the way in Heat 3 and showed some stunning all round pace to to take the race in 27.69 by 4 1/2 lengths. I thought Smart Bid ran a superb race in Heat 4, he was very brave around the first and stayed on very well to finish in second place. I hope Taylors Ace was ok after his fall. In Heat 5 felt Sids Champ ran a lot better than his finishing position of 5th suggested, he was handily placed running into the third bend.

All three semis can be seen live on Racing Post Greyhound TV this coming Thursday. The £10,000 final will be shown on Sky Sports the following Tuesday (February 7).

Baines takes last share in Vedfield

Wheres Rooney ?

I've had a number of questions asking when Rooneys Lad will run again. We have actually entered him in the Puppy race at Monmore the last two Saturdays but unfortunately the race hasn't filled hence no race. I gave him a trial on Monday and he recorded a very pleasing 28.33.

Proud Perry continues to please in his trials, this week he recorded 28.53 in his first ever mixed three dog trial.

Who will be the final one in ?

Strong field set for Henlow Puppy Derby

The Primus Telecom Puppy Derby starts tomorrow at Henlow. Henlow is probably the most improved track in the country and its shows by the quality of the entries. We will be support the event by taking six of the kennels pups.

Drumcove Lad crowned Champion Sprinter at GBGB Awards

Well we all had an amazing evening at Sunday night GBGB awards held at the Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel in London. We will certainly be feeling the effects for a few days yet ! It was a great privilege to be crowned Champion Trainer of 2011 among my peers in the Industry. It was a very proud moment which wouldn't have been possible without such a great team committed to succeed, an amazing family who backed me all the way and the the continued faith of all my owners.

Drumcove Lad was crowned Champion Sprinter for the year after their dog completed the Scurry and National Sprint double in 2011. Congratulations to owners James Edwards, Neil Britton and Will Adamson. As you can see from the photos big Steve and Paul were very emotional !

We rounded off the evening with the Monmore team collecting the inaugural BAGS Champions. Well done to all the Monmore trainers including Kim Billingham our captain.

Boherna impresses at Notts

Boherna Bridge recorded his maiden career win for his connections last night when he took the Stadium Bookmakers 480 Maiden at Nottingham. The winning time was 28.84 and the margin being a huge 5 1/2 lengths. This lad has some genuine pace and I'm very hopeful this will be the first of many wins.

Team start work towards Trainers Championship

All our big guns Freds Champ, Brittons Empire, Ballymac Ace and Drumcove Lad have stepped up their work at the kennels this week and will soon be trialing back as we prepare for the Trainers Championship at Perry Barr. Other team contenders such as Ballymac Park, Maireads Hawk and newcomer Fifis Legend will be entered for the Ladbrokes Arc at Swindon.

The distance team for the Trainers Championship could be very interesting with new arrivals Peggys Style, Colmyaro Rebel, Fifis Romeo, Express Scene competing with great servants Yorkshire Lady and Skyline Amber. Fill yer Boots (ex Helmet Boy) is also back after a spell on the sidelines.

The place in the Puppy race is really up for grabs at the moment as we have a team of very strong pups to pick from.

The One in all in Syndicate today agreed terms to purchase Irish super pup Vedfield Solid. Vedfield Solid has had two races in his career to date winning them both including the Final of the Rising Kennels Open Unraced at Youghal. In truth the pup never really took to the track at Youghal which makes his wins even more remarkable. This lad has sheer class and pace.

He has clocked some serious unofficial times and with his blistering early pace he will be a big runner in the Monmore Puppy Derby.

Paul Scott's Daughter of Peg recorded her 21st career victory on Thursday night at Monmore when she added another A1 victory to her CV. Peg made the use of her early pace to steal an early lead and was never headed in the contest. Winning in 28.91 by 4 1/4 lengths.

I've been searching high and low for a new dog to offer to the One in All In Syndicate in recent months to possibly compete in the Monmore Puppy Derby. The syndicate came so close to landing the big puppy competition last year when Express Shuttle was just denied by Droopys Greg. The syndicate did have their big night when Shuttle won the Blue Riband at Hall Green.The syndicates second dog Maireads Hawk then took the Coral Puppy Trophy at Hove before reaching the Puppy Classic Final at Nottingham.

I have hopefully managed to find a suitable dog for them. All those members will be getting a text from me over the weekend to see if they wish to be involved.

I am currently working on a exciting new project for the small owner. More details will be released in due course.

Highly rated Sion Black available for sale

Last year was a record breaking year for us as we landed the Champion Trainers Title. This year we are determined to try to and repeat last years success.

We are continuing to try and build up a major open race team to launch our 2012 bid.

We are pleased to announce that we have just secured the services of a young puppy that we believe that is going to develop into a major open race stayer. Sion Black is a beautiful 69lbs May 2010 puppy by champion stud dog of the year "Crash x Sion Sleek", who has already bred 28.60 winners Shelbourne Park.

"Sion Black" - has been competing in the one of the 'hottest' unraced stakes to be run this year in Ireland at Clonmel - It is an £8,000 competition. (Express Shuttle & Express Trend were in it last year) both sold for over £50,000. It is a competition which has some of the stars of the future running in it. For example "Skip soda" (28.85 - 28.81 Clonmel)

This gives you an example of the sort of Class of dogs in this hugely prestigious sweepstake. 60 of Irelands leading pups started the competition this year and Sion Black is the only surviving bitch which tells us how classy this pup is.

"Sion black" - has been competing in this competition. Despite running over a distance which is way too short for her 480m/525 yards she has shown some spellbinding pace.

In her latest run, on Sunday night - she came from out of the clouds to finish 2nd in a brilliant 28.88. The winner of the race was "Jacobs courage".

In her previous race, she was only beaten 3 1/2 lengths by "Jacobs courage" after coming from 8-10 lengths behind him.

You would not buy "Jacobs Courage" for £15,000 - On the run to the pick up which is another 150 yards "Sion black was in front.

"Sion Black" on Sunday night had an estimated time of 29.19 - The same night, some of the fastest all age bitches in Ireland or England were running. "Cabra Millie" who has 28.33 & 28.44 at Shelbourne Park won in 28.97 at Clonmel - which was only 3 lengths faster than "Sion black"

They have refused £30,000 for "Cabra Millie"

"Sion black" this Sunday night coming runs in the semi final of this tremendous competition - £4,500 to winner -

She will be competing against some of the fastest pups in Ireland or England but with her tremendous staying ability has every chance of making the final.

I've managed to complete the Ten to Follow for 2012. Rather than going for the easy selections that you all expect I tried to pick greyhounds that are unexposed. Our open race campaign hasn't really got going yet due to the developments at the kennels. We will however have runners tonight at Nottingham at at Henlow on Thursday.

It's been mighty cold up here at the kennels in recent days. For those who are not aware the team and I have been grafting all hours in the kennels that used to be used by Paddy Hancox and Martin Burt so we can relocate. The kennels have been redecorated and will have a fantastic new kitchen and office. The kennels are also slightly larger than our previous ones which will suit the dogs.

Although the dogs are moving less than 100 metres some will take some time to settle into their new surroundings, as strange as it might sound.

I'll get some new photos of the kennels when everything is complete. I know the web team are currently looking to change the gallery part of the website.

Hot sandwiches will be available every Sunday once we are all settled in !

Hawk on fire in Monmore Double

A cracking double for the team last night at Monmore. Ballymac Celia (pictured) had a tough second half of the year in 2011 so it was great to see her back to winning ways. Celia took the A4 in 29.52 setting up the win with some great early pace. Maireads Hawk made it two wins from two starts in 2012 when he took the 480 Open race in 28.28 Hawk had to dig deep off the final bend to hold on to win by one length.

Win 14 for Radnor Blue

Radnor Blue recorded his 14th career win this afternoon at Monmore. Blue came from behind today to snatch victory in the final strides of the S3 (38.81) It great to have the big open race stars in the kennels but dogs like Radnor are the corner stone of any good kennel.

Con Brio Destiny recorded his first win at Monmore last night when he took the A4 in 29.31. This dog hasn't been with us long since moving from Oxford. He looks to be a nice addition to the team and should win plenty of races with his early pace.

Moscaville on the march

The penny is now really starting to drop for our young puppy Moscaville. Today she recorded her third career victory of her career when she stayed on very well to take the A5 at Monmore today in 28.90. She has now risen from A8 and I'm sure there is plenty more to come.

Deal agreed to bring Champion Staying Puppy to head to Westview

Down through the years our 'main man' in Ireland has supplied us with some outstanding Category One event runners.Through his contacts we have just secured the services of another outstanding stayer /marathon runner for us at Westview Kennels called Colmyaro Rebel.

This young puppy has become 'hot' property on the Irish racing scene with her power packed finishes over the 480 metres, a distance which is way too short for her to show her true potential.

Racing at one of Irelands toughest tracks Clonmel she was racing over the 480m where she treated racegoers to some fantastic displays. Taking the lead at the half way mark she powered clear to win in times of 29.42 and 29.30 which was the fastest time of the night.

Some tempting offers were refused for this young puppy on the staying poential she showed in Clonmel. It was then decided to bring her to Irelands Premier track, Shelbourne Park, for a race over the 686m - 750 yards. Having her first look at the track and her first ever time over the 6 bends, she delivered on all the promise she had shown in earlier races. Racing against all age dogs she tracked the early leaders and came home like an express train as she won by 7 1/2 lengths in a very good time of 42.50.

Her form lines include -

1st in 29.42 525 yards Clonmel

1st in 29.30 525 yards Clonmel(FTON)

1st in 42.50 750 yards Shelbourne Park (FTON)

These are fantastic runs from this very exciting staying puppy. Her style of running suggests she will have no problem in staying up to 800 - 900 yards. All she can do is improve further from this, she wont be 2 years of age until next June and has been recording 29.20 in trials at Thurles - which is one of the biggest galloping tracks in Ireland.

She come from a proven open race dam line as her dam "Sion Sleek" - has already produced "Domestic Lily" - 28.67 Shelbourne Park - "Sion Swift" - 28.85 Clonmel.

Make no mistake this young stayer has major open class stamped all over her. How good is she only time will tell but her future career is going to be watched with great interest with what she has shown so far.

I believe that she is going to become a top open race/marathon star on the open race circuit in the UK. She is rated in the same class as the likes of "Rosshill View" who was one of the best marathon runners in the UK when here at Westview Kennels. (Winner of the Bet Mcauley Marathon winner Midland Flat at Hall Green) We refused £25,000 for her at Sittingbourne one night.

This pup wont cost anything near that price. She is available for £6,000 and sold with full vets certificate. Please contact me further to discuss this young puppy. As always the puppy will be sold on a first come first served basis.

To make things easy you just need to post your weekly NAP on the Facebook page where I post link for that particular week. NAP's will be worked out to a £1 stake and who ever makes the most profit will be declared the winner following the Final SKY meeting of 2012. 7 Up at Monmore

Well the Saturday night racing in 2012 couldn't have started any better as we recorded an amazing 7 winners including one open race winner.

Agony Aunt got the ball rolling for us as she took the opener with a battling performance to take the A8 in 29.35. Maireads Hawk became our first open race winner of 2012 when he went off a very warm favourite for the 480 race. Hawk burst clear going around the first bend to showed some superb back straight pace to set up at 28.21 win by 3/4 length. Doobys Gone West recorded the third consecutive win on the night as he blasted away from traps again to set up his 4th victory from just 5 starts. This A3 victory was in 28.57.

New Boss delivered the next win for us when he took the A4 in 28.54. This dog has a super attitude and will surely add to first perfect CV of two races and two wins.

Paul Scott looks to have another fantastic prospect on his hand by the name of Rooneys Lad (pictured). This pup is only a June 2010 yet took last nights A2 in 28.55. This pup looks to have all the skills to be campaigned at a higher level so lets hope "Rooney" can deliver !

Townspark Eric can an inconsistent 2011 however he started 2012 with a real bang when she showed us all his true ability when taking the second A2 in 28.37 by 4 1/2 lengths.

Paul Scott's Daughter of Peg then brought up our final and seventh winner of the evening when she took a very competitive A1 in 28.53.

Cracking double for the team last night at Monmore. Sids Champ didn't let the step to to A3 stop him recording his second career victory. He showed some great early pace to take the a competitive looking race by 2 3/4 lengths in 28.59. Newinn Diva then recorded her first win when she took the A5 in 29.08. I do like this bitch and this could the first of many victories.

Cooladerry and Amber in charge at Monmore

As the regular racing programme return to normal it was great to be among the winners at Monmore. Cooladerry Rise took the kennel bragging right as he got up in the shadow of the line to deny Corrig Blue by a length in the S2 (38.68). It was a cracking race between to honest and eager to please dogs.

The stayer to beat at the moment is Skyline Amber who won the S1 today by 2 1/4 lengths in 38.43. It has been rare Amber has even run in graded company and is was great to see her get a deserved victory as she runs so many consistent races.

Open Race team warming up for 2012

We will be having our first open race runners this weekend as we start the defence of the Trainers Championship. Delightful Aine will take her chance in a very competitive Local Parking Security Prestige over 645 metre. Aine clashes with Aero Majestic and Fleeting Image.

Back on home ground at Monmore on Saturday where Maireads Hawk, Are We Dancers, Gagys Classic, Jennas Pony and Head Iton Eion will all take their chance.

Mike sadly lost his beloved Galtee Petal on Tuesday after the bitch sadly collapsed on Tuesday. Mike is of the kennels most loyal owners who rarely misses an opportunity to walk any of his dogs. Betfair Trainers Championship heading to Perry Barr

It was great to hear today that the 2012 Betfair Trainers Championship will be held at Perry Barr on 21st March. It's a great result for our local supporters who were certainly the loudest at Wimbledon last year when we led the big night only to be denied by the great Charlie Lister. I'm sure our local supporters will again be our in force again.

We will be adding some top class dogs to the West View team very soon as I'll be going all out to add another title to our CV.

Drumcove Lad nominated for Sprinter of the Year

Drumcove Lad is one of three nominees for the 2011 BGRB Sprinter of the Year. Lad will be up against Lil Risky and Jimmy Lollie. Fingers crossed for the big night on 22nd January held Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel. It was a shame Brittons Empire and Ballymac Ace were nominated but both were against Taylors Sky who looks to the favourite for greyhound of the year.

Champion Trainer Title Confirmed

We were finally confirmed today formally as GTA Champion Trainer of 2011. Its been an amazing year with many highs including competition wins in all twelve months of the year. We finished the campaign with 164 Open Race Winners and over £89,000 in prize money. I would like to record a few notes of thanks for record :-

King Charlie Lister honoured

It was fantastic to hear that the great Charlie Lister was to be awarded the OBE in the New Year Honours List. It's a fantastic achievement and fully deserved as he's been the King of greyhound racing for many years. Charlie actually phoned me the other day to congratulate me on my year and didn't let on on his own wonderful news. He is just a legend and if I can achieve held of what he has I'll be very happy, actually a quarter will do ! This takes the sport to a whole new level.

Driving into New Year

The last meeting at Monmore in 2011 gave us another two nice winners. The pictured Drive on Pal took the A4 with gutsy display to take the contest in 29.62 whilst I was really pleased Head Iton Woodie got another deserved win. This time he took a tough looked S1 in 39.01 by three lengths.

Although we had two winners on Thursday evening I just had to use Rooney as the blog headline. Rooneys Lad (pictured) proved his promise ahead of 2012 when he blasted out to take a difficult A2 on debut in an impressive 28.56. Sharp Bullet, who is also by Ninja Jamie, took the second A2 but this time coming from the rear of the field to get up by a head in 28.52. Exciting times for the connections of this two new dogs.

Pots and Pans heading to breeding paddocks

All the team have had a few days off over Christmas to recharge our batteries for the New Year this included Neil who manages our website and social media. Normal service will now be resumed. I do need to start with some bad news as unfortunately Pots and Pans suffered a broken hock and shoulder place injury at Monmore on Thursday. The injury has ended her career which is a real shame for owner Paul Scott and the team at Westview as the bitch had some real star quality about her and could have reached the very top. I know winning the competition meant so much to you in winning your late brothers competition. Over sixty regulars from the Royal Hotel Pub play in the annual event every year in memory of my Dad Bobby Allsopp and it was great to see my Uncle Steve lift the winners trophy today. He has joined other family members Carl and Paul who have previously won.

Scott's Pans seals it for Magnificent Monmore

Our home track of Monmore Green put a thrilling Bags Championship Grand Final on Friday afternoon when Pots And Pans sealed the fifth of the six legs, for pups, to seal the Championship for Monmore. After scoring steadily throughout, finishing no worse than third throughout, that combination was enough to allow Monmore an unassailable advantage.

Kim Billingham, our team captain, accepted the extraordinarily large winning cup. Jim Woods, Racing Manager, said total team prizes of £9,000[£6,000 as champs, and £3,000 from the regional stage] would be equally divided among all 12 Monmore trainers. Monmore also get £12,500 to add to Bags prize-money next month.

Pots And Pans had to battle to see off a pacey Judys Bloom, and then held a running on Bonamassa Buddy by nearly two lengths in 28.70. Pots and Pans is owned by loyal owner Paul Scott. The event proved more nerve-wracking that a Category One, it’s been a fantastic year for us all, now for the track too.

Final scores Monmore 42, Hall Green 37, Romford 27, Hove 24 (fourth on wins count-back), Belle Vue 24, Newcastle 13

Kennels closed for next two Sundays

The kennels will be closed for the next two Sundays as this will enable me to give the hard working staff a few days off over the Christmas and New Year period. The kennel staff put in some extreme hours throughout the year and I'm sure you all will be fine with the decision. Christmas presents at Monmore

The last evening meeting at Monmore before Christmas was certainly kind to us as we recorded a fanatic six victories. Marazion Magic got the ball rolling when she took the A3 in 28.67, this was her second win in succession. Cooladerry Rise is in great heart at the moment as he recorded another great when took the S2 in 38.68. Gagsys Classic is one of the unsung stars of year and he added another win to his CV when he took the A2 in 28.53. I was really pleased the Skyline Syndicates Skyline Fleck won her first race which was an A6 in 29.18. Another nice dog for 2012 is New Boss, he showed his potential when taking the A5 on debut in 29.01. Our final winner of the evening was Bawna Major who took advantage of a drop in grade to record is first race, A7, in 29.17.

It was a great night for every one last night connected with the kennel. The win pushes us 26 points clear in the Trainers Championship which should wrap it up all bar the shouting. On personal note I have a stinking cold to deal with with is not the best. I'd to thank every one for their texts, messages and phone calls. I'm still trying to keep up with those mixed in with the media requests. The title would not have been possible without my loyal owners, hard working staff and loving family.

I would like to acknowledge what a great race it has been for the title and it couldn't have such a great race without opposition. It's a great honour to up against Mark Wallis and Charlie Lister both are legends of the sport and they have set the level to what we all need to aim at the sport. I'm sure both with be as keen as ever to the title back next year.

Drumcove seals National Sprint and Championship

Drumcove Lad sealed his second big competition this evening when taking the Stadium Bookmakers National Sprint at Nottingham tonight in 17.91. I must thank the winning owners of Will Adamson (pictured with Drumcove Lad yesterday), Neil Britton and James Edwards for buying this dog for me to train as hopefully this win has sealed our mission to win the Trainers Championship.

Lad pinged from traps only to see Outbound Conka push through to take the lead, however as in the Semi Final, Lad fought back up to home straight to take the £2,000 prize by 1/2 length with Fifis Rocket running a stormer to take third place.

The win will hopefully push Drumcove Lads credentials towards a nomination for Sprinter of Year as he have now taken the two biggest sprint competitions of the year. More reaction tomorrow.

12 Point Lead in Trainers Championship

Following last nights racing at Sittingbourne we have a twelve point lead going into tonight racing at Nottingham where we have Fifis Rocket and Drumcove Lad in the National Sprint Final. We will pick up another 10 points even if both finish unplaced but lets hope for even better. Both dogs are in great form with themselves and either could win given a sharp break. Regarding the dangers Trap 1 looked to be a fast improving sprinter whilst Magna Buddy has a handy draw in trap 4.

Stunning turnout for Christmas Owners Morning

I hope all those came to our third Christmas Owners Morning today had a fantastic time. Despite it being cold, the forecast showers stayed away to enable over 100 owners and family come up to Westview Kennels to enjoy some seasonal hospitality. All the dogs enjoyed their walks and treats almost as much as the owners enjoyed the hot breakfast sandwiches ! On behalf of the staff I'd like to thank all owners for their cards and gifts. I also like to thank my army of volunteers who always come out and help on the morning and finally magic man Paul Stevenson who went down a storm with everyone.

Pans and George set for BAGS Championship Final

Hawk swoops to glory

Maireads Hawk took the scalp of the highly rated Longwood Fantasy last night when taking the Ladbrokes.com 480 in a very tidy 28.19. This dog is a serious greyhound and just needs a bit of luck going round the first bend of a race. Fingers crossed this victory will get him back on track to his very best.

Our first winner of the night was Sids Champ who was well supported by his connections as he took the A4 in 28.54. No doubt the 4 3/4 winning margin will result with a move up the grades. They can't be many better starts to careers at Monmore than Doobys Gone West. Doobys made it three wins from his first three starts as he showed some rapid early pace to take the second A4 in 28.70.

Despite not winning on her first three starts Solid Merlot didn't let the step up to A5 stop her recording her first victory. She was quickly away from traps and took the contest in 28.88.

If you are not one of his followers it might be worth it as the old boys seems to have the inside track on the kennels news. The runners at Sheffield in fair didn't have much luck last night however Freds Champ (pictured) will return for Harry Holmes Memorial Final after finishing second in Heat 2 in 30.72.

Back at Monmore my confidence before racing of having a couple of winners was rewarded with 5 fantastic winners. Gagsys Classic started the ball rolling and his own amazing form when he took the opening A2 in 28.53. Marazion Magic was not to oblige when he recorded his first Monmore win in 28.50 when taking the A4. Lady Ballyglass brought the treble up when she made it three wins from her last four starts when she took the the second A4 in 28.84. Are We Dancers is another inform dog in the kennel at the moment and he added another A1 to his CV when romped to a 3 1/4 length win in 28.06. Our final winner of the evening was Agony Aunt who took the A9 when winning her first race in 29.18.

Foot staying hard on the pedal

With Mark Wallis only picking up five points at Romford last night we go into the final weeks of year holding a fourteen point advantage in the Trainers Championship. Mark is in three minor Finals at Romford whilst we have two in the Nationsl Sprint Final on Monday. We look to be very strong favourites to win our first Championship.

Tonight we will be at three different tracks. Monmore host a very trappy graded card which I'd be hopeful of landing a winner to two. Over at Perry Barr we have Derrynaflan Dude, Head Iton Woodie, Jungleland, Yorskshire Lady and Townspark Eric. Finally we have sent a team to Sheffield where they have put a couple of great little competitions. In the Dual Distance we have Brittons Empire. Jennas Pony and Daughter of Peg. The big competition, the Harry Holmes Memorial, will see Freds Champ and Ballymac Ace in action.

Drumcove and Fifis make National Sprint Final

Drumcove Lad (Pictured) and Fifis Rocket finished first and second to each other last night at Nottingham to seal a place in the National Sprint Final next Monday. Drumcove Lad pinged from the boxes and looked to have stolen the race only to swing wide off the last bend which saw Fifis Rocket to sneak through on the inner. Drumcove Lad rallied well and held off the Rocket by 1/2 length in 17.94. I think the draw for next weeks Final is fair to both dogs and either could win if they produce their best.

The Trainers Championship continues to be amazing to be involved in. The current table sees us in first place with 860 points, Charlie Lister sits 2nd with 848 whilst Mark Wallis is still the biggest danger with 836 points. Mark has Aero Majestic in tomorrow nights Essex Vase Final. A win for Aero Majestic would give him 50 points or 20 points for second. If this happened we would have to win National Sprint to stay in the race. Should Aero Majestic not finish in the first two then it would be very difficult for the Wallis team to catch us !! Nervous times for both camps and the big winner has been the sport and its followers what ever the result.

Tonight we are heading to Hall Green hoping to pick up a couple of valuable points.

This will be our third Christmas event and hopefully we can build on the success of the previous events and yet our biggest turn out to date. Every one will be welcome from 10 am to share a seasonal drink and a snack to eat but only when you have walked your dog ! Our kennel photographer will be around for the most of the morning so its your chance to be photographed with your dog and hopefully that shot will be used on the website when your dog wins.

I have managed to organise another pup to raffle. This year we have a 5 month old dog pup out of Ninja Jamie x Cabra Fly. The dog will be fully reared as part of prize to 12 months. Ninja Jamie was an amazing dog trained by Charlie Lister (Winner 2008 Gr 1 East Anglian Derby in track record, 27.40. 2nd 2008 Gr 1 Select Stakes. Winner Gr 2 Ladbrokes Summer Festival 480 (Dogs) & 2008 Gr 3 Derby Plate. Wimbledon 27.21, 28.31) whilst as you all know Cabra Fly was trained here and was an amazing servant for the kennel winning a number of major races for us. Our 'Main Man' in Ireland - who has already supplied us with numeorus category one event winners including this years Midland Flat winner & Pall Mall winner has just secured us the services of a top young class puppy who made a fantastic racing debut winning by 14 lengths!

Paidis Peata is only a June 2010 baby, she is by Express Ego who won the Racing Post Juvenile at Wimbledon and Irish Derby consolation - He also reached the Irish Derby final. Ego won over £44,000 in Prizemoney.

This pups dam "Dark Gypsy" ran in opens over 6 bends - she is a full litter sister to "Cash dream" - winner of the £25,000 race of champions at Tralee.
As the above clearly shows "Paidis Peata" - was bred to have pace and she demonstrated this only last week. Having the 1st race of her life - when most dogs her age are still being schooled - she showed remarkable pace for one so young.

Breaking in front -she left her field trailing in her slipstream - and couldnt have been more impressive as she roared home to win by 14 lengths in 29.26 - A brilliant effort for a pup of her age.

Make no mistake - All this puppy can do is improve once she gets more racing experience and is allowed to develop.Her style of running suggests she will have no problem in getting further - remember her dam ran over 6 bends.

Rocket and Lad move forward in National Sprint

The competition at Nottingham was red hot last night but it looked that Mark Wallis might be holding the trump card of Lil Risky in the National Sprint. Our two contenders clashed in Heat 5 but both were surprised by Slick City who took the race in 17.82. Fifis Rocket and Drumcove Lad took the qualifying places for the Semi Final of which two from each Semi Final will contest the last big race of 2011. Believe it or not our two will meet again in Heat !

Gagsys Classic was narrowly beaten in the Maiden Sprint Final by just 1 1/2 lengths in 18.09. Second place was very hard on the team as we have finished up in five final within the last two weeks.

George wins again as Monmore romp home to seal Final place

Perry Barr staged the sixth and final match in the Midlands division of the Bags Track Championship on Tuesday lunchtime and it was Monmore and Hall Green that held their nerve to book their places in the Grand Finalon 23rd December at Monmore Green.

Hall Green, who were attempting to peg back league leaders Monmore, got off to a flier when Paul Sallis's Klockwork Krai produced a bold front-running display to bag ten valuable points and reduce the overnight deficit to just 3 1/2 points.

Monmore hit back in leg two (Sprint) when Corren Price's Sanantone Jack blasted from the boxes and held out for the victory. Hall Green's Ballymac Gain finished third to bag five points while Swindon finished fifth and slipped further behind the front two teams. Heat three (Dogs) saw a terrific buckle between runners that had already won two previous legs in the competition.

Monmore got the maximum out of Kim Billingham's Cape Maldini who held a determined challenge from Kevin Hutton's Ding Hero, and with Hall Green finishing fifth, Swindon again had a shot at second place.
However, Hall Green fought back when Gerry Ballentine's Around Corners, already a winner at Oxford and Swindon, recorded her third success in the competition when making all in the Bitches leg at 12.12.
Leg five, the Puppies contest, saw Monmore finally wrap up the this Midlands title when our Borna George recorded his fourth successive win and guarantee Monmore the £3,000 prize for winning the division.
Although Hall Green finished down the field they had done enough to secure secondplace behind Monmore and book their place in the Grand Final alongside the hosts.

The sixth leg, for Stayers, had become a dead rubber but there was still pride to play for plus a matter of £200 for winning the race.

It was like a lap of honour for Monmore who recorded their fourth win of the match when Kim Billingham's Farloe Gambit made all of the running for an easy success and give team Monmore a brilliant 46 point haul on the day. Well done to all the trainers involved and and special well done to Kim Billingham who kept the team going well after a difficult start.

Ladbrokes Festival Review

On very cold afternoon at Monmore the racing certainly warmed up those in attendance and those watching in the betting shops. I'll hopefully be getting a few shots of our dogs in action from our photographers trackside. I'll post them when I can.

Starting off with the Bitches competition in which two of our team qualified for the Final. Daughter of Peg dead heated in first place in Heat 3 in a 28.57. She will be joining in the Final by Pots and Pans whose winning run came to an end as her scalp was taken by the much more experienced Ballymac Eugine. Her second place was a fantastic effort for such a young bitch.

Maireads Hawk will be our one and only representative the Dogs Final as he finished second in 28.37. Ballymac Ace was surprisingly knocked out alongside Freds Champ and Are We Dancers.

Both Yorkshire Lady and Skyline Amber were both eliminated in the 630 contest.

Brittons Empire continued to show his great form as he took the closing Heat of the 416 competition in a very rapid 24.42 and should go into the Final with a favourites chance.

Young pups give us heart for 2012

Doobys Gone West made a stunning start to his Monmore career last night when he took the A6 in 29.08. The August 2010 pup by Ballymac Ruso could be worth following over coming months. Another dog to note is Sids Champ was was second in the A4. I like this lad a lot and I'm sure it won't be long until he moves up the grades. We managed to record a double when Edgars Champ dead heated in the A4 in a pleasing 28.87.

Ladbrokes Winter Festival Preview

We will be hoping for a strong showing in the winter festival that starts at Monmore tomorrow afternoon. The four competitions are always hotly contested and this year its no different.

In the 480 Bitches we have Ballcasey Lady, the fast improving Pots and Pans and Daughter of Peg.

In the 480 dogs with have Ballymac Ace who looks to have a tricky draw, recent Sky winner Freds Champ, Maireads Hawk whilst Are We Dancers gets his chance to mix it with the big boys.

With most of our stayers finished for the year Skyline Amber will be our only entry in the 630 competition.

Finally in the 416 we have Tullna Rose, Jennas Pony and Brittons Empire. Good luck to all connections who have a runner.

Kennels closed on Sunday

Due to more sicknes again today and the importance of Mondays card at Monmore the kennels will be closed again this Sunday. I'm very sorry as I know many of you love your morning with the dogs but this is a ctritical time and I need to get all of Monday runners perpared and can not risk the spread of sickness. I'll try and blog a preview of our chances in the Festival when I can get a spare moment.

Rugby sponsor needed

As many of you know who come to kennels our son Sean is a budding Rugby player who represents the local Coventry based team Old Coventrian Under 11's. We are seeking an urgent sponsor for the team. The company name will be printed on all the squad shirts.

They play all around the midlands and are planning to tour in Torquay April 2012. We are looking for a minimum sponsor fee of £200 (More than one sponsor welcome). Donations will also be gladly accepted.

They are very good team and have been in the press three times this year and have played at Welford Road. We also came runners up at the Burnham-On-Sea tour this year. We are playing Oakham after Christmas and are playing in the Worcester Tournament on 1st April 2012 amongst other tournaments.

Moscaville proves he is pup to follow

Moscaville didn't let a 2 grade rise stop him at Monmore last night. After finishing 5th in his first race he has since gone 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 1st and 1st ! Out of the super Bitch Cabra Fly this pup is showing some real heart and I so pleased for the connection who put a lot of time and effort into the sport. Hopefully the grader will be kind on the young pup after his 28.84 win. On today's card Head Iton Nancy recorded her first win when she took the S4 in 39.14.

Drumcove and Fred combine for Sky Double

We recorded a top class double on the under card of the Befair Eclipse on Wednesday evening at Nottingham. Scurry winner Drumcove Lad (presentation photo) thew his hand in the ring for the National Sprint when taking the sprint in an impressive 17.77 by 3 1/4 lengths. Freds Champ (action photo) was rewarded for his consistency when he took the 500 metre contest in an equally impressive 29.78 by 2 lengths. Those Facebook followers were rewarded as I posted my NAP of my night which was Champ who won at a very tasty 3/1.

Lady wins but Ace is denied

Ballycasey Lady (pictured) took the team honours last night at Hall Green when she took the Bitches race in 28.78 by 2 1/4 lengths. Our army of away supporters sent Lady off a warm 7/4 favourite after running so well the week before at the same venue.

Sadly there was no fairytale in the Midland Flat Championship are Ballymac Ace could only finish second to Farloe Luigi in 28.64. Bandicoot Fionn tried his best but couldn't get on terms with the front two. Head Iton Tom was unplaced in the Stayers race.

Up at Sheffield Express Gear was a solid third and Head Iton Eion was unplaced.

Pony and Classic move into Finals

Gagsys Classic sealed a place in next weeks Maiden Sprint Final after taking Heat 3 last night at Nottingham in 18.25. Sadly Bawna Antarctic just missed out on a place in the Final after finishing third in Heat 1. The Maiden 480 Final was marred with traffic problems. Jungleland ran very well to finish second whilst Scarty Paddys chances ended on the first two bends. Jennas Pony was back on her favoured track of Romford as her took heat 1 of the Coral on TV Bitches Trophy in 23.99. Shinners Princess won't be joining Pony in the Final as she was eliminated after suffering crowding throughout the race.

Christmas Owners Morning Announced

I can confirm our Annual Christmas Owners Morning will take place on Sunday 18th December 10.00am-12.30pm. All the big names dogs will be out for walk including Ballymac Ace ! You might be even get your chance to have your photo taken with him ! All owners will be welcome to come and share a seasonal drink and a snack to eat with all team. Our team photographer will be on hand to snap you with your dogs and I do need a few of you to answer a few questions for our owners page. No need to confirm attendance but I'm sure we can beat last years record attendance.I'm trying to secure another nice pup to raffle off during the morning.(More details to follow)

Website Updates

I've started updating a number of pages on the main website. I think we probably post more updates than any other trainer however things are always changing and I'd noticed a couple of pages needed amending on the normal static pages. A couple of the staff have moved on to pastures new and we wish them all the best. I've updated the owners pages and I've got plenty of new recruits to add once we have the photos completed.

With Brittons Empire's win in the Super Paws we have taken over at the top of the Trainers Championship. Whilst the small lead is handy over Mark Wallis, Charlie Lister is now looking a serious treat given he looks to have two big competitions at his mercy.

Tonight Scarty Paddy and Jungleland are up against each other in a Maiden Final at Nottingham. In the supporting open Dixies Craft makes her debut, Cooladery Rise in a Maiden 500 whilst Gagsys Classic and Bawna Antarctic goes in the Sprint competition.We will also be in Romford where Jennas Pony and Shiners Princess run in 400 metre competition.

I'm sure the team will be supported well at Hall Green tomorrow where Ballymac Ace will be taken by Bandicoot Fionn in the Midland Flat Champions Final. Head Iton Tom runs in the Maiden Stayers and Ballycasey Lady is in the Bitches race. Two runners head to Sheffield these are Head Iton Eion, Head It and Express Gear.

It's Sky night on Wednesday as Nottingham host the Betfred Eclipse. Freds Champ was very unlucky not to qualify for the final. Maireads Hawk will be hoping for a clear run in the Puppy contest, Daughter of Peg looks to have a difficult draw in the Bitches race, Drumcove Lad clashes with multiple Sky winner Lil Risky, whilst Freds Champ will be looking for compensation in the 500 metre standard, finally Skyline Amber take her chance in the distance race. Cheer the team on ! We need you !

Scott's Pots and Pans is A1 at Monmore

Paul Scott's April 2010 pup, Pots and Pans, brought up her hatrick at Monmore this afternoon. Racing from trap 4 against a much more experienced field she over came a hold up on the first bend to show some fantastic pace and real courage to get up and win by 1 1/2 lengths in 28.74. No doubt she will be one of the star attractions at our Christmas owners morning which I'm currently finalising.

Another bitch heading in the right direction is Lady Ballyglass who took the afternoon A5 in 28.71. I think connections can expect another rise in grades.

Eric and Gforce on podium at Monmore

Whilst Brittons Empire was away taking the Super Paws title at Poole, Monmore staged a competitive night of racing. Townspark Eric (pictured) won his second race for us when he took the A3 in an impressive 28.47. I'm hoping this win will increase the dogs confidence and we can get in back up to top grade. Other second winner of the evening was Gforce Direct who took advantage of a drop down to A3 to win by a convincing 2 1/2 lengths in 28.30. Sadly Tullna Rose was eliminated in the Oaks Quarter Finals at Wimbledon. She ran well after leading early but sadly couldn't hold on to a qualifying spot.

Brittons Empire takes Super Paws Title

Brittons Empire took the £3,000 Category Two Jem Racing Super Paws Final at Poole last night. After fluffing his lines in the Semi Final he made no mistake in the Final and to be honest wasn't troubled as he strode to a 1 1/4 length win in 26.44.

Empire has now won 21 of his 50 races and has had an awesome career. In addition to last nights title he had previously won the 2011 Pall Mall. What a year !!!! Congratulations to his connections. Its worth noting that a 50% share in this dog was advertised on his blog a couple of months ago.

Monmore on the charge in Midlands BAGS Championship

Monmore have moved up to third place in the Midland BAGS Championship after todays meeting. With two meetings to go there is everything to play for. We managed to contribute two winners at todays meeting at Swindon. Borna George made it three wins on the bounce when he took the Puppy race in 29.17 and then Gagsys Classic took the Sprint in 16.33.

Sickness forces kennel closure on Sunday
