Super Yankee at Monmore Tonight!

I wish!, it was 5 winners though
Tonetta Bound kicked it off with a good win in A2 (28.82), Recent purchase from our website didn't take long to get off the mark when despite a rough ride showed guts to win an A6 in 29.33.
Next came Borna Empress with a 28.97 win in A5 followed by the fastest win of the night by Start Itup Sooty taking care of his A3 in a rapid 28.44.
Proud Barney sealed a great night at Monmore when winning his A2 in 28.51.
Hall Green is forgotten already!

Slight distraction at Hall Green dogs last night, trying to get Patsy to buy a dog, what do you say sweedie?

No luck on a rain soaked night at Hall Green

The weather was shocking and we couldn't get one over the line tonight at Hall Green, we live to fight another day however.

Exocet...your turn now!

Exocet gets recognised at last! He finally receives his dog of the month award for October 2013 live on Sky on Wednesday night at Hall Green

It was disappointing for us all that Exocet wasn't considered in the category of Newcomer of the Year for his fantastic efforts in winning the Kent Derby where he went unbeaten throughout the competition, and was just outside the track record when winning the final and finishing ahead of bitch of the year Droopys Daneel.

Exocet went onto the Eclipse at Nottingham where he won heat and semi final and was beaten in the final from a bad draw as 6/4F

More pups arriving for sale

The start of the 2014  brings the new arrivals in!
We are constantly looking at fresh young talent that emerges from the Emerald Isle, a lot of these pups are way over priced for what times they have been achieving -  for example only at Clonmel on Sunday night we were asked £50,000 euros for a pup!
Our 'main man' in Ireland has just secured three young pups for us here at Westview Kennels - His proven track record in supplying major category event winners is unquestionable.
He has been Involved in supplying Derby winners, Oaks winners Laurels winners in fact all the major event winners have been supplied by him.

These pups will cost nowhere near five figures even though they have proven top open class winning breeding -

Lot 1 -  WAJAS WAY - June 12 whelp - Black dog - Slip the Lark x Wajas Tail

This pup has phenomenal early pace and will make top open class up to 400m - In his latest trial at Clonmel for the 300 yards he clocked 16.36 - This pup has huge early. To put his run into perspective new wonder pup 'Sir Paddy' - clocked 16.37 at Clonmel & they want £50,000 for him.
His sire (Slip the Lark) has produced such flyers as 'Droopys Jet' - English Derby finalist - Irish champion stakes winner - 'Jumeriah dubai' - one of the best sprinters seen in English racing -  The National sprint winner - track record holder at Notts for the 305m.

This dogs dam has already produced crack open racers such as - 'Wajas Trump' - 2013 National sprint finalist at Notts over 305m rated 120 on G.Data - 17.63 at Notts - winner of over 12 opens already.

This pup can only improve further and will win numerous top open races - He represents massive value at the asking price for a dog with his early pace and breeding. - £3,000

Lot 2 - WAJAS SPECKLE - This pup is a full litter brother to Wajas Way - He is a White and Black dog

In his latest run on a trial track (when the going was slow compared to a racetrack) he ran over the 480 metres at Clonmel -  Showing top class all round pace for a pup he recorded an excellent time of 29.37
This pup like his brother can only improve further and will win plenty of top class puppy open races

Once again very extremely reasonably priced - £2,500

Lot 3 - DIXIES HOPE - Droopys Kewell x Pedro on Air - May 12 whelp - Bitch
This young pup has only one race on her card where she was 2nd in a flying time of 28.78 for the 525 yards at Limerick

Brilliantly bred as her dam - is by 'Wheres Pedro' x Always on air' - who has of course produced such flying machines as the legendary 'Barnfield on Air' & 'Lenson Joker'
His litter brother 'Dixies Rocket' also joined us here at Westview Kennels just before Christmas

Dixies Hope has been doing 29.10 for the 525 yards at Limerick and will win top grade races at Monmore once she gets more age on her side and experience.
With her breeding and the times she has been recording already she is an absolute steal at the asking price. - £1,000
Owners are welcome to visit the kennels to walk these young pups this Sunday.

As always these pups are sold on a first come first served basis - Please phone me direct to discuss them further.

Summary of 2013

Another fantastic year for the kennel, winning some big races once again, safely finishes in the all important top six in the country.
Eventually after a terrific four way battle with Mark Wallis, Charlie Lister and Paul Young we ran out of dogs and luck when Exocet was 3rd in the
Eclispe Final at Nottingham, after that we knew we could not win the title, So decided to go to Ireland with our best dogs.
Exocet obliged by winning the NIGHT OF THE STARS 575 and Cluxtons Free ran a brave 2nd in the sprint. This was a very proud moment for the kennel as it was the first ever British trained dog to win on this big night of racing.
Our main aim each year is to win the Monmore Puppy Derby, after many years of trying and runner up with Express Shuttle, we finally won it this year with Cluxtons Free and
home reared Strategic Review was only 1/2 length behind in 2nd.
Overall we  probably had our best ever year finishes 4th in the Country with 809 points, winning 162 open races and earning £84,655.00 not forgetting the 10,000 euros in Ireland.
When winning the title in 2011 we reached 887 points, 164 wins and £89405.00 in prize money, but back then there was far more races to go for, so personally I think in 2013 we over achieved again and had a real good go at the winning the title, but sadly just fell short.
We won four Category One races, six Cat two's and seven Cat three finals in 2013, my biggest mistake in 2013 was letting my graded strength fall, mainly down to injury, for many many weeks we went below 20 dogs available at Monmore, which led us having many Monday and Friday bags races with no runners.
This lack of numbers is the reason Paul Sallis just snatched the title away from me and prevented the kennel winning it for the eighth year running and becoming the first trainer ever to beat me at Monmore Green it was that close it come down to the last meeting of the year.
Fair play to Paul though, he is a very good trainer and had a great year at Monmore, but Mr Sallis a warning, I WILL BE BACK!!!!!!!!!

I would like to congratulate Mark Wallis who is a true gentleman on winning the title once again, the man came back from the dead and went out to 16/1 at one stage after being as short as 2/7 to land the 2013 trainers championship title. Mark had an unbelievable last few months of the year and eventually won quite comfortably with Charlie back in second.
Paul Young had a great year also back in 3rd, winning many Cat 2&3  finals, making loads of Cat 1 finals and the Derby, but strangely never won a Cat 1 all year, if he had a bit of luck in some Cat 1 finals, I have no doubt with his fire power and his huge kennel,  Paul would of won the title but fair play to Mark he dug in and his dogs done him proud.

Charlie had another terrific year  landing many big races and another Derby final with Sidaz Jack, the boys from Leicester had great year also with Farloe Tango taking staying racing to another level, with some outrageous displays of pace and staying power, he made some great dogs look average and his St Ledger victory was the best i've ever seen!
