All rise to the five

Our team went to track with no excess Christmas pudding inside them as we stormed to a fabulous five winners. First to oblige was Bawna Gayle who took the A4 in 29.31. This bitch now has won an amazing 20 career races. Galtee Petal has been in the wars of late so it was great to see her get a confidence gaining win in the A6 in 29.27. Cooladerry Rise (pictured) recorded her maiden victory in the A3 in 28.91. She showed some real heart in the victory and I'm sure this bitch should have a great 2011. Fatboyz Romeo made it back to back wins in A1 when recording the fastest time of the time, 28.58. Our final winner was well worth the wait as Brittons Empire who strode out impressively in a four length victory. The 28.65 run in A3 and the even money starting price suggested a few of the local punters were trying to get the New Year beer money paid for!

New Owner added

Carl Collins has kindly given up ten minutes of his busy schedule to answer a few questions for our owners page profiles. Why not have a read. I hope he and his family have plenty of winners in 2011. Many thanks.

Gary Anderson on the march

Gforce Direct owner Gary Anderson stormed into the quarter-finals of the 2011 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship this afternoon when producing an incredible performance to end Andy Smith's hopes.

Anderson hit 10 maximums in a game that lasted just 16 legs and went on to end the match with a three-dart average of 108.39.

The Scotsman, competing in his second PDC World Championship will now face either Raymond van Barneveld or Colin Osborne on New Year's Day. Make sure you get behind Garry and cheer him on live on Sky Sports.

Bank Holiday Double

Pony Daisy (pictured) showed all her staying power when storming from the rear of the field to snatch victory in this afternoons A3. The 28.73 confirmed her well being and we will more than likely have a step up in distance again very soon when conditions are right. Ballymac Siobhan recorded her 7th career win when taking the afternoon opening contest, an A6, in 29.30.

Latest Trainers Championship Standings

Super Pups

I've just added three super pups to the website. I will post their trial times after each trial so you can monitor their progress. All three are very different and inspection is welcomed. The prices are subject to change after each trial.

Do you want a runner on Trainers Championship night?

I'm pleased to offer Uncle Rico, March 08, bk dog. He is bred out of Ace Hi Rumble x Rith Soar.

Uncle Rico is a proven top open race performer, with wins at Ireland's premier track, Shelbourne Park, 28.52 for the 525, 31.35 for the 575 yards.

If Rico was a pup he would be commanding a 20 K+ price tag. Rico has only had 16 races, but has some great lines of form, he was even money fav against new intake Townspark Eric but was baulked when leading !

Rico will definitely be a big player in all the Category 1 races in 2011, and will play at part in our Trainers Championship team.

Rico will be syndicated to 3 owners at £2300 each share, or 4 at £1725 each, this gives others opportunity to get involved in a top class dog at not silly money.

Don't think to long, these shares will go fast.

We have had many new owners joining us throughout the year so to help these new owners I have listed a few common questions and answers that may be worth regular visitors noting aswell. Christmas Reading

If you stuck with a bit of time on your hands over Christmas I'd urge you to look up the below licks. On the London Transport Museum site it shows some of the old greyhound posters that was designed to promote our sport on the underground. The other site worth looking up is Darrell Williams's articles on lost tracks of the past on the Betfair Greyhounds site. It's very sad to see all those tracks have long disappeared but I think they are great little articles.

Happy Christmas

Can I wish all my loyal owners and website followers a very Merry Christmas. I hope you get all you wished for and you have a fabulous day with your family and friends.

Ten to Follow for 2011

The staff and I have selected our dogs to follow for 2011 and they have been added to our personal profiles as always. My 10 to follow is on the main staff whilst I've also updated my own profile with some a couple of new questions. Have I named you dog ? I could only name ten and so please don't be offended if yours isn't in the list. I'm going to do a questions and answers page for the site over Christmas so why not post a question on the discussion board on the Facebook page.

Frankie takes Memorial

I'd like to congratulate Frank Wright on winning the Bobby Allsopp (my father) Memorial race last night at Monmore Green with Highview Shadow, he ran a blinder in a great time.

Bank Holiday Fixture

Just a reminder that Monmore Green will stage racing on Monday 27th December! Why not come along and bring a friend as its with free admission and 12 thrilling races. The first race 11.00am, gates open 10.00am. We should have plenty of runners and they will include stars such as Fayboyz Diva, Ballymac Celia and Pony Daisy. For those who are new to the site the Racing Information page always posts advance cards and trial results. One to add to add to your favourites.

Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou, Romeo

It was very ironic how Fatboyz Romeo bred out of Borna Fence took last nights A1 on the night the pup from the same dame was won by Neil Britton and Mike Gould. Romeo caught kennel mate Sandy Legend in the very last stride of the race in 28.69. After a slow start to his career Richter Corgan is picking up fast. His win last night was his second from three starts. The 28.65 win in A5 will surely give up another grade rise to cope with.

A Touch of Velvet for Britton

Reading was the team revealed at Monmore as the lucky team to win the Borna Fence pup. The team had been purchased by Neil Britton (pictured) in partnership with Mike Gould. Congratulations to you both. The lads will have have the opportunity to take their pick of four pups. Earlier in the day Neil had purchased the very promising Lemon Velvet who will be another strong addition to his team.

It was great to see some of the old kennel favourites back at kennels on Sunday. Its impossible to name them all. They all look to be enjoying their retirement. Pictured is Maria Dingley with Head iton Paddy. This is picture is now is use on our welfare page.

Wimbledon, Reading, Middlesboro, Southampton, Sunderland, Swindon, Hearts, Charlton, Barnsley, Fulham, Wigan, Sheff Utd, Blackburn, Bolton, Rangers, Oldham, Walsall, Huddersfield, Leicester, Southend, York, Grimsby, Cambridge and Bradford.

Owners Flock in to Owners Morning

Despite deep snow and shocking driving conditions around the Midlands, owners new and old flocked in to our annual Christmas Owners morning. I don't think I've seen so many owners. I've posted a couple of photos to wet your appetite for coming days when all the photos have been edited. Many thanks to all the staff and family who helped with the hot refreshments. It was a great team effort. I will post an update on the football card separately. I hope you all enjoyed the morning and thanks again for your continued support.

Weather Update - Owners Morning

Just to let you all know the owners morning should go ahead as planned tomorrow. Despite the snow all the roads around the kennels are fine and are operating as normal. Hope to see you all in the morning.

Monmore Off

Tonight's meeting has been cancelled off at Monmore due to the heavy snow at the track. You will have to enjoy the Strictly Come Dancing Final on the TV.

Finger in all the pies

Len Timmins has bought the final share in Townspark Eric. Len now has shares in some great dogs to look forward to in 2011 such as last nights A1 winner Gforce Direct, Cooladerry Rise and Ard Blossom. Good Luck Len and thank you for your support.

Best buy this year

How do you fancy owning a April 09 puppy, who has already won opens in Ireland, will stay further and has great breeding from the famous Lemon line.

I offer you Lemon Velvet, a blue bitch, only had 8 races, recording great times, 28.88 Lifford, 29.02 Drumbo. On Sunday this bitch won another open a Lifford over 550, beating a great field including current track record holder at Dundalk called Ballycanel Chief.

In her short racing career this bitch is already running agaisnt top class company and beating them.

Velvet will also qualify for the Monmore Puppy Derby in March.

Anyone interested please call, you will be surprised, as i think this could be the bargain of the year.

150 Not Out

Last night So Larry became our 150th Open Race Winner of 2010 when taking the Oxford Stadium Sprint in 14.97. This will hopefully the first of many wins for his new connections. Daughter of Peg suffered a surprise defeat, I'm sure a rest of the New Year will do her the world of good. Back at Monmore Gforce Direct put in a stunning run when taking the A1 in 28.57 making it back to back wins.

Ticket Update

Just so you all know it's all 100% genuine there will be a choice of football blackout cards to pick from before you choose your teams. All the card has to be filled in before we can peel back the sealed box to find out the lucky winner. I have have had many calls from those owners who can't make it on Sunday but still want a go ! It is a great chance to own a well bred sapling for just £20.Phone callers will only be accepted after 1pm on Sunday giving those who turn up on Sunday the first choice of teams. Phone callers can pick the remaining teams, any one can have a go. The sealed box will be opened in a live draw on Thursday 23rd December at Monmore by General Manager Richard Brankly.

Wednesday 15 December 2010

Ticket to ride

Ever consider invested £20 to win a Derby. That's just what may happen this Sunday ! The phone has not stopped ringing about the new pups that have arrived so I'm going to give all our blog readers and those coming on Sunday to take part in a football card style raffle to win the pup of their choice. There are 80 teams on the card which will be sold at £20 each. The person with the winning revealed team will win the dog pup of their choice off Westmead Joe x Borna Fence. I have four of the litter you can pick from of which the other will be available at £2,500 each once the winner has selected their pup. Borna Fence's first litter included Fatboyz Romeo, Borna Jessica and Andrees Diamond.

Team Building for Trainers Championship

I'm already thinking ahead to next year. I'm keen to get another category one greyhound into the kennels to strengthen our all round team. With us travelling the miles we do and an appearance at the Trainers Championship it could be perfect for everyone. If you have dog that needs a change of scenery or are looking to purchase a new dog please give me a ring and you would be very welcome to come and meet the team.

Don't forget Sunday

Don't forget it's Christmas Owners Morning this Sunday from 10.00am. Hot food and drinks will be available to all my loyal owners as a thank you for your continued support. If you have a friend or mate who has always fancied owning a dog why not bring them along. It would also be great to any old faces.Try and make sure you make and it would be great to attract even more people than last year. It will the final chance to walk your dog on a Sunday before the New Year as kennels will be closed to owners on the 26th December and 2nd January to enable the staff to have a couple of early finishes for their hard graft throughout the year.

Monday 13 December 2010

Flying Jack

Fatboyz Jack provided us with our only winner at Monmore this afternoon. The Anthony Cameron owned son of Top Honcho landed his second victory from just three races. The two length win in A5 grade in 28.98 will do doubt give him another grade rise to cope with but I can't see why this lad won't keep improving.

Woody snaps up the Ranger

Loyal owner Rich Wood struck early yesterday when securing the purchase of one of the seven new pups that arrived from Ireland. Curra Ranger (Black Shaw x Traffic Eclipse) is an unraced April 09 who recorded a nice trial at Clonmel. It would be great if he could turn into a pup cabale of running in Monmore Puppy Derby. Good luck Rich !

Townspark Eric joins the team

Townspark Eric is joining the team here at Corley. Eric has been purchased by a select syndicate of Ted Megaw, Neil Britton and Will Adamson. Eric is a top class top who has won 7 of his 18 starts. Will a 28.42 on his card he looks like a top class addition and will be targeted at the Trainers Championship and then the Scottish Derby. There is a 25% share remaining in this dog for any one interested. First come first served.

Sunday 12 December 2010

Saturday Double

It was nice to get back among the winners last night. Direct Angie had to dig really deep as she took the A6 by the shortest of short head in 29.28. Radnor Blue is running well at the moment and added another win on his CV after taking the evenings S2 in 38.68.

Saturday 11 December 2010

Bad day at the office

It was a grim day for us on the track yesterday. After already suffering a tough week on the injury front it would have been nice to land a big winner to pick up everyones spirits. At Monmore in the Bitches Final Daughter of Peg was caught up in early pace trouble which cost her in chance, Fatboyz Diva took advantage of the trouble and ran on well to finish 2nd. To make it worse we had no graded winners either. Down at Wimbledon both our runners Borna Jessica and Ballymac Farrah both finished a very frustrating 4th in their respective Semi Finals, one place from qualifying ! It is a case a dust ourselves down a graft as hard as normal today.

Friday 10 December 2010

Ace and Rumble on Christmas Holiday

Both Ballymac Ace and Ballymac Rumble have been retired for the year and will not appear until January. Both dogs have been a model of consistency all season and fully deserve a winter rest. Both have been major contributors to our 5th position in the Trainers Championship. Pat Rosney has sneaked past us in recent days so lets hope we can take a Final before Christmas. I have some nice pups arriving in next 10 days so please keep your eyes peeled to the website. If everything goes to plan you will be able to see them at our Christmas Owners Morning on Sunday 19th December. Hope that date in in your diary's ! I'm hoping for a big turn out, it's a great chance to meet some of the other owners and share a breakfast sardie cooked by your truly.

Monday debut for So Larry

Neil Britton's new dog So Larry will make his debut at Nottingham on Monday night. A winner of 7 of his 24 races in Ireland we are hopeful he will make a nice sprinting type. Pony Daisy will also be running as she returns to open racing.

Delta rising fast

Bawna Delta continued his rapid rise through the Monmore grades last night when taking the evenings A6 in 28.77. Quickly in to the lead he never saw another dog in the 2 1/2 length win. This pup started in A10 and has now won 3 of her 6 races. I'm confident there is plenty more grades of improvement to come over the coming months.
